Listed below is a list of all known unique plants that can be found on the Mamlak Peninsula -
Mwanzi wa Pamba: Called Cotton Reed in the common tongue, this plant can be found growing along the edges of the Achwa River just as it begins to flow southward out from the Mabira Forest in the northern portion of the peninsula. This fast-growing reed is greenish-brown in color and can grow up to 12 feet in height. Thick around as a man's thumb at maturity, Cotton Reed can be broken open to reveal the reason for its name. Within can be found a white fibrous material that can be used to produce many textiles including clothing and blankets.
