The snow was still crisp the following morning after the two vixens stepped out of the hotel. The evening before had been unforgettable, at least to Aspect it was. She felt like she'd connected with her on a level in a way she hadn't with anyone else before. Akori understood her life and her struggles on a personal level, having lived through similar experiences herself, due to her abilities. It was so nice and refreshing to meet someone like her. She was unlike anyone else she'd ever met. Being with her made her feel at peace and confident in herself. It made her feel like she walking on air. She was quickly falling hard for the fellow fox next to her.
She glanced at her eagerly and flashed her a smile before she jumped through the doorway. Before her feet hit the ground, she'd turned into a stunning red fox, her dainty paws leaving prints in the snow. In a quick spin that sent the white stuff flying, she turned to her companion, the smile still plastered on her face like a fool as she waited for her to join her. In no time, the pair were trotting side by side down the alley. Though of average size for a natural fox, she was dwarfed slightly in size by the magically enhanced kitsune and her very many gorgeous tails.
They had only gotten a short distance before they had to turn in either direction around a building to go down the street. Once they got the end of the wall voices could be heard around the corner. Aspect stopped and perked her ears forward, curious to which the men were talking about. She crept quietly forward, her ears ever focused on the conversation. She'd never been above light eavesdropping in the past, and this wasn't likely an exception now. She looked at Akori out of the corner of her eye, sure she was doing the same. It wasn't the most polite or respectable thing in the world, but then again, it was only frowned upon if they got caught. Until then they were fine.
In the street nearby she could see what was likely a newsstand, there were papers hanging up on the cart with words written on them. Around the stand were a few people talking, some louder than others, evidently about what was in the news that morning. Even from here she could read the two main headlines on the front page. The first was "STRAY DOGS HAVE A BALL AT PALACE" and she couldn't help but smile wildly. She gestured to Akori so she could see it too. "Look," she said in an excited whisper, her eyes sparkling. "Our first outing and we already reached front page status! Can you believe it!"
She continued reading the paper, the smaller print below the headline was unfortunately too small to read from this distance. She would make an effort later to grab a paper so that they could read the full story. She was very eager to see how their misadventure was glorified in print. The second headline she could read was more depressing and definitely less exciting than the first. "YOUNG HEIRESS DIES UNEXPECTEDLY." It was this second headline that the majority of people were talking about. The woman was young and unmarried, the only child of her parents, both of whom were old and elderly at the present.
Supposedly, there was hidden money or treasured buried at the estate, and now that the heiress had passed away, there was a vacancy that needed to be filled. Until then, the grounds and building weren't likely to be as guarded as heavily, since most were out looking for other heirs to the wealthy family. She gave her friend a smirk. "Would you be interested in another adventure?" She asked with a sneaky smile. "How do you feel about digging?"
