“And now, where is that marketplace?”, Nemesis spoke calmly, even though the walking city was in turmoil due to the indirect actions of his beloved ex-wife. The world spiraled into a particular madness where lewd and devious behaviors were rewarded and the streets were littered with murderers, exhibitionists, and everything in between. Those that either still retained some sort of self-control or had never even touched the tainted wine were trying to preserve what dignity the city had left while God carried him through. In one of his hands was a leash which at the other end was that of a large, copper-coated wolf with ocean-like eyes. The hulking beast leads the way and his master looked on as if he was walking a normal dog, aside from when someone got too close to them and the wolf would snap and swipe at them.
“Now, now. No need to be in a sour mood. This wasn’t what either of us wanted.”Which was true- it was a mere inconvenience for him that this situation occurred yet he couldn’t let this stir him from his true focus. Whatever unworldly things were out there, he was still determined to learn more about them and Hoja Mesto was one of the few areas left to check for information that could lead to the eldritch. After all, a gathering from all corners of the realm would suit such a purpose just fine. Unfortunately with everything that was occurring, he would still have to keep up appearances and nearly everything in his fold was busy here or there. Except for Ivan. His wife’s beta, though an annoyance under literally any other scenario, would prove to be capable of bodyguarding him. But he made him shift because that last thing he wanted was for the man to talk his head off.
To say that the Beta was crossed was an understatement but he couldn’t go against the Alpha. As they walked, Nemesis stopped for a moment and swiped a bottle from the hands of one of the men that were partaking in “no pants roulette” with one another. Dark in both scent and color, God shook his head and immediately let it drop freely onto the ground. “Hey, you!”, cried the man once he got his senses back together enough to see his drink gone. “Bastard, you gonna go get me another one!”
Under normal circumstances, watching a man trying to act tough while his pants were around his ankles would have brought
slight amusement from Nemesis, his stony face said otherwise and gave a quick whistle. “Huh? What’s that…”
His new friend hadn’t paid attention at all to the wolf as he pounced onto him and more senses came back to him. What was once a man of drunken stupor was know as the one that was panicking but to avail as the others continued to entertain themselves with one another. He was reeking of fear and desperation as Ivan mauled him and Lord Volkov embraced the sensation hungrily. But Ivan was smart enough not to feast from the blood and flesh of the man, lest he would get caught up in the curse. Instead, he elected to maul him down before taking to his throat and with a quick yank, delivered death to the unfortunate fool.
“Come, Ivan, we have to find the marketplace, or whatever’s left of it.” Dropping the man, the lupine trotted aside him as they made their way through the discordance.
