The festival hadn't piqued his interest at first; a scary time would come hard for a deity of
his position. But the idea warmed up for him enough to send his avatar down there to investigate how it was thriving. It seemed to be doing very well and although he very much doubted that fear would strike him, it did hold claim to many thrill-seekers and the masses as a whole. Such a feat stirred his appetite and so Nemesis went to personally see this chain of establishments. It had been ages since he saw the outside world as he had been busy tending to more personal matters as of late.
He ventured onto the lonely road leading up to the swamp and soon the fair stood insight. There would be no disguises this time, he had no reason to mask his identity and freely walked among the mortals present. He wanted to see how he would stack up against these challenges and more so, feed upon the frightened flock that was trying to brave this night. His crimson eyes fell upon the treats and games that grasp at the visitors as soon as they arrived, but his interest fell elsewhere. He felt an immense deal of fear gathering from an attraction he hadn’t seen before in his life- and it was from a maze of corn of all places. Inhaling, the god could smell the succulent amora deep within it as terrifying screams greeting his ears.
What on earth could possibly be scary about corn?
Nemesis couldn’t fathom it and shrugged a little. It wasn’t like he had anywhere to be and the night was still young. Therefore the most logical thing to do in his shoes was to venture onward, and so he did. It appeared simple enough as he started but soon learned his folly once he reached a dead end and tried to double back. Where he had once seen a statue remembering two lovers embracing one another in a hug prior to making that turn into the dead end, had vanished but in its place was a scarecrow? As eerie as it appeared, Nemesis only mildly annoyed as he figured that some sort of magic was changing this place, or perhaps even making things appear that weren’t there.
