She did not turn face or back away while Raines looked down through her shirt, and seemed to otherwise oblivious to his gaze from his perspective, only when he had mentioned the fact of her ink did she finally say something. She pushed off from the chair and once more grabbed the bottle from his hand, he had all but give up trying to stop her at this point. She gulped down a rather large swig before tossing the bottle back to the captain and turning around to face the desk. She took off her tunic and tossed it upon the table.
It was clear to Raines now how much her body was covered into ink, as the wide range of tattoos was plastered upon her back. She started to slowly explain what each of them meant. A few of the markings he had recognized as the property marks of Mo’mey slavers. A few of the crew had some of the same markings themselves, but he did not realize that she herself had been sold to the slavers. The nautical ones wrapped around her waist and she turned herself to face him and show where they stopped along her stomach.
Compared to his own life, she had it far worse that much was for sure. It probably was what gave her attitude and strength. She could have boarded any ship, but she apparently had chosen Raines’ he couldn’t understand why.
”Aye I did put up with ya well ‘nough, and here ye be the quartermaster of this vessel,” He finally spoke. She reached down for the bottle and he just handed it to her after taking what he wanted. She jumped up upon the desk to sit down.
”So now we know, a slave that escaped. A past fit for a pirate,” He made light at the situation and tossed his pipe down onto the table.
”Yet the ship’s captain is nothing but a dockhand, who stole from the Adelunan regime to make this fine vessel. Course it wasn’t easy in the end, their mages almost ended everything for me. The freedom I wished fer, to take what I wanted…Lives were lost to make this ship. The misery I had to deal with hiding ‘mongst the shadows…waiting” He laughed remembering his own past. He did not know why he started to share his own with the woman.
”More than seven years it took, and the end to my misery was complete. Blood was already on my hands then…some of the crew were from back then, not much of the original is left.” He said and snatched the bottle from her this time and finished off the remaining amount. He placed the empty bottle on the ground.
”Empty again,” He growled and tried to get up from the chair he was in. It did not hit him how much he had drunk until he got fully upright. He tried to take a step and just tumbled forward. He crashed into his quartermaster and tried to brace himself upon the desk but hand slipped upon her water-soaked tunic and he fell forward before finally pushing against the desk with his other hand.
After the shock of almost falling, he realized where he was now, his lips just centimeters away from Raleighs as she lay beneath him his leg between her own. He looked down to see she has completely exposed her arm moved away from her bosom.
”I…sorry,” He did not have a witty comeback this time for the situation and he pushed himself off of her turning to not face her.
”We should..retire for the night.”

Raleigh did nothing to respond to Raines’ threat of her owing him for the now destroyed tobacco in his pipe other than smirk a bit, still clearly finding what she had done to be rather funny. After a moment she noticed the smirk on Raines’ own face and realized where his gaze was fixed. Rather than straighten up and make an attempt to cover herself, she remained in her position with one hand on either side of the chair, her eyes fixed on his face. It was a strange situation that she seemed to have found herself in this particular evening, and his most recent comment only furthered that. The thought to kiss him again crossed her mind, and she felt herself leaning ever so slightly closer to him before she was brought back to her senses by his question about her tattoos.
”Oh,” she said, realizing that, yes, Raines had seen the tattoos on her arms and shoulders, but he had never seen the ones covering her abdomen, her sides, and her back. His question of whether or not the tattoos had any meaning brought a barrage of memories back to her, but fortunately enough she was in an inebriated enough state where the sadness that some of them brought would be subdued.
She braced herself on the arms of the chair and pushed herself back up into a standing position. She snatched the bottle of rum out of his hands and took a rather impressive gulp before handing it back to him.
”There’s a reason for all of them. Maybe not a special meaning, but there’s a reason… But I don’t know that they’re all that exciting,” she said. Without another word she turned around, her back now to Raines as she stood next to the desk. She crossed her arms and grabbed the hem on either side of the tunic, tossing it onto the desk next to her.
Her back was now completely exposed, and it was covered in a series of intricate patterns and designs. Intermingled throughout the expansive inking on her back seemed to be a rather innumerable amount of scars.
”Up at the top here, just below my neck - I suspect I was ‘round thirteen when I got those ones,” she said, reaching over her shoulder to tap at the top of the ink.
”My parents passed when I was around nine, I think? I was sent to an orphanage, but I was too old for anyone to take me. Not long after my thirteenth birthday, the orphanage sold me to some slavers from Mo’mey,” she began explaining. It didn’t seem as though the memory seemed to be affecting her too much.
”If you look close, you’ll see they’re actually runic symbols - it’s describing where I was purchased and my identifying number, all that kind of thing,” she said.
”Now, just below my shoulder blades, I got those when I was… fifteen, maybe?” she continued. The design in question now seemed to be a pattern of a sun coupled with angel wings and several items that looked like daggers.
”That one was my idea, after I killed the slavers and escaped to Abed,” she said. The lack of emotion in her voice gave way to the fact that she wasn’t overly affected by it any longer.
”I was there for about a year before I made my way to Adeluna, which is where the rest of that one came from,” she said, indicating the designs that covered the rest of her back. They were nautical in nature, finished at the bottom with a design that seemed to be like waves.
She crossed an arm across her chest, and turned around, showing how the wave design wrapped all the way around her sides and her stomach. Her side also had runic writing scrawled across her ribs and hips, along with some of the same faded scarring that was across her back. She stopped when she was facing Raines again, leaning back against the desk somewhat.
”I worked on the docks in Adeluna, scrubbing ships and loading cargo, once I got there,” she said. She shrugged her shoulders for a moment, her arm still folded across her.
”Did that for… three years, before I came across you and took up with your crew. I knew I belonged on a ship, I knew I belonged on the sea - I was just waiting for the right captain, and you were it,” she said rather simply, as though it was a fact and not something she believed.
”Two years later and you’re still putting up with me, so I guess it was the right choice,” she said with a laugh.
Her laughter died off slightly as it dawned upon her just what sort of predicament she had gotten herself into now. Her tunic lay discarded on the desk, the contents of which were in disarray from both she and Raines having sat upon the desktop. Were one of the crew to walk in, surely there would be assumptions made - though with the storm raging on the way it was, having picked up in its ferocity, the likelihood of that was very low. Beside that point, Raleigh wasn’t sure she would mind if those assumptions
were made… But that was neither here nor there at that moment.
”Told you - not all that interesting of a story,” she finished. Keeping her arm crossed over her chest she leaned forward to grab the rum from him again, waiting for his reaction to the information she had just shared with him.

”Till we put back three?! Aye that usually be a good plan an’ all but I am sure ye have already knocked back ‘lenty more than three.” Raines exclaimed as he took another draft of his pipe. He then took a look around the dimly lit room at the small pools of water where she had been standing along where she had planted herself upon the table.
”Aye you are right, absolutely dry what was I thinking.” He retorted after he blew the smoke away from the both of them.
He went to take another drink, but just like clockwork Raleigh has hopped down from the desk and and snatched the bottle from his hand.
”One of these times woman, I’m gonna bite that hand.” he growled. He rolled his eyes as she handed the bottle back to him commenting that nothing was easy.
”When ya run a ship full o’ blood thirsty and greedy men ya can’t take it easy. Every single moment they could stab you in the back and take everything away.” Words that would have darkened the mood if they both weren’t under the influence of alcohol.
Her words were quick followed by a series of giggles as she ran out of the cabin, Raines honestly more surprised that she could still stand after all they had drank while in here. As he brought up his pipe to take another drag of it she bursted back in, far more soaked from the rain which had picked up and ran over to him. Both hands were placed on the arms and she shook her head sending the water that she had picked up flying everywhere. If the cabin had not been soaked the first time it most definitely was now.
”Fucking hell woman! Now you are for sure cleaning this mess the hell up!” He brought the pipe to his lips and tried to take a drag and nothing. He looked over at the end of the pipe and saw that the ember was gone and the substance in it water soaked. He turned it over and tapped it, and the large chunk came falling out.
”And ye will owe me part of yer share for that!” He then got a little smirk on his face. His eyes were clearly not looking at hers, but more in front of him. Clearly it seemed that Raleigh had not realized she had been showing more of herself to her captain that what she knew.
”Or perhaps you won’t have to, if ya keep leaning over like that I could be inclined to forgive ya for it.” he spoke, he had remembered how embarrassed she had got when she had given him a kiss. He wondered how she would react knowing that he was staring at her shown cleavage and had almost a perfect view of her body through the almost transparent white tunic.
”The tattoos, are there some meaning behind them? Or did ya just fancy marking up yerself?” The ones on her shoulders were visible but her was more pointing out ones that were more visible now.

Raines’ offhanded remarks were enough to solidify to Raleigh that he was not going to let her forget about her little transgression any time soon. However, the quartermaster was rather relieved to see that he was at least taking the situation with a bit of humor. She chose not to respond to his jabbing little comment, instead just arching an eyebrow at him with a sideways glance. There was a small part of her that wanted to catch him off guard again, but she was unsure how well that would go over.
She watched with anticipation as Raines contemplated the idea she had presented, finding herself more than a little entertained by the small mannerisms he took up while thinking. They were things she had come to recognize over the time she had spent on his crew. After all, he
was her captain, and as quartermaster she spent an awful lot of time watching him, waiting for orders. Of course, there had been a fair amount of time she had watched him that wasn’t due to her waiting for orders, but she was always sure to do that sort of thing when Raines was otherwise occupied and wouldn’t be able to see such a thing.
As Raines leaned across her to retrieve the rum, she felt that same jolt run through her body again, her heart momentarily racing. Now, she was just getting confused. Why was this happening
now? She had spent plenty of time in close proximity to him, and of course the underlying affection and attraction she felt towards him had always been there, but she had always been able to suppress it and had never tried to act on it. She tried to blame it on the rum, but it wasn’t the first time the pair had drank around one another.
There was a split moment where she thought of taking advantage of the moment, but before she could decide whether or not that was what she wanted to do, he had already straightened back up and was drinking the rum he had retrieved.
When Raines expressed the fact that he seemed to approve of her idea, save the fact that it was going to require a bit of tweaking and fine tuning to make it deplorable, she grinned. It was a bit more of a grin that she would usually display, considering how much rum she had consumed that night.
She opened her mouth to snap back at his comment on her being hammered, but snapped it shut again as he continued to speak after taking a seat in the chair again. She shook her head slightly, laughing at what he said. Of course she knew that it was mostly in jest, but probably partially true - he wouldn’t be overly happy about the water getting tracked into the cabin, but at that point she didn’t care.
”Aye, but won’t be a competed evening ‘til we’ve put down at least three!” she said with a laugh.
”And the cabin’s not that wet!” she added.
She hopped up from the desk with a devilish grin on her own face and snatched the bottle out of his hands, taking a drink. She tapped the bottle against his boot before handing it back to him.
”Nothing is ever that simple with you!” she said in response to his asking if she thought it was going to be that easy.
”Hang on, I know how to remedy this,” she said with a giggle, before darting barefoot across the cabin to the door and disappearing into the black of the night for a moment. Seconds later she came back in, completely soaked from having ran out into the rain, which was now coming down even more heavily than it had been earlier. She pranced back over to him and placed one arm on either side of his chair and proceeded to shake her soaking wet hair all over him.
”Now you’re the one getting the chair all wet,” she quipped, still leaning over him with a cheeky smirk on her face.

Rainea furrowed his brow as Raleigh once again got up from her seat in front of him. He had to wonder if something in her mind told her to get up from the chair every time he told her to sit. She placed the bottle of rum to the other side of her and make a quick retort about how the kiss wasn’t long enough for her to pass judgement on how it was. He snarky attitude was back, that was a good sign. The captain though could not help but to pass up the opportunity to poke the beast a little more.
”Yer th’ one who quit it. Ye has ample time to get a good one in while I was dumbfounded.”She went on to finally explain what she had thought up. Her gaze was fixated on the map for a while before she finally met his gaze. She had brought up a good point and one that he had never thought to consider himself. They indeed did have a woman amongst theme and even though Raines treated her like every member of the crew he had never thought to use the assets that she brought with her. Her speech was probably about the best of any pirate would hear and she would definitely fit amongst the dresses of Adeluna giving her a more noble appearance. She tapped the the captain on the chest finally explaining his part of the plan.
He hunched over as she made herself a seat next to him on the table. He stroked his chin, playing out the plan in his mind over and over. He seen nothing wrong with it at the current moment and the more stealthy option would mean less risk for them getting caught again. The only issue was finding members of the crew they currently had that wouldn’t go mad and take more than what was targeted by Raleigh’s infiltration. He sat back up.
”Aye the finer details will need to be worked out. Other then that it sounds like a solid plan. People would not expect the outcasts o’ the sea to strike from land.”He reached across the front of her, leaning over to grab the bottle of rum again. He had a devilish grin on his face as their faces were close again. He was not going to be the one to let her live that moment down, at least while the two of them were alone together that is. He took a drink from the bottle which would be depleted rather quickly he figured between the two of them.
”A rather impressive plan to come up with while so hammered I must say. Yet!” He broke off his statement and jumped down off the table and took a set in his chair again. The fabric was damp from the rain water on her tunic.
”That’s going to be two bottles down, and this office be soaked. Now ‘ow I sees it you ought to clean it. And pay me back for them bottles.” He knew well enough that he gave her one of the bottles he was just having a little fun of his own now. He put his legs up on the table next to her crossing them. The positions of the both of them had changed now.
”Didn’t think that a brilliant plan like that would be all it took eh?”

Raleigh allowed herself to be righted and pushed back into the chair, still looking a bit dumbstruck at what had occurred.
”Yes, you did,” she said, though her words came out as though she were in a bit of a daze. The tone of Raines’ voice did nothing to sway her in one direction or another as to a guess of what he was thinking or how he was going to react to the events that had just unfolded. She assumed that since he had stopped her from falling backwards, he wasn’t overly upset - probably just chalked it up to the amount she had already drank.
She watched Raines as he drained the rum that was left in the first bottle and as he moved to obtain a second bottle. For a brief moment while his back was turned to her, she raised a hand to her mouth, brushing her lips with her fingers, a look of incredulity on her face. She still could not believe what she had done, and it was clear.
She dropped her hand before he turned back around, and when he gave her the open bottle of rum, she gave him a nod as well as murmured something incoherent, most likely just a word of thanks for the bottle. She took a large swig of the rum, her gaze still on the Captain. She just stared at him blankly as he told her to elaborate on whatever epiphany his words had given her, not reacting to the latter half of his statement - not right away, at least. She got up, even though Raines had suggested she stay sitting, and took the step that closed the distance between her and the edge of the table. She took another drink of the fresh bottle and set it on the table to her right - Raines, where he was seated, was to her left.
”Not enough of a kiss to pass that judgment, unfortunately,” she said off handedly, giving him a sideways glance. The way she looked at him and the way she spoke sounded much like her old self - a bit of playful chiding masked into the words - though this time, it sounded like she might have been a bit disappointed that it hadn’t been - though she most certainly did not say that.
”So, you said routes, and you said avenues… and we’re always starting our raids at sea, are we not?” she said, her eyes fixated at the map below them.
”What if - you’ll have to follow me here - we start the raid on land?” she said.
”Hear me out,” she added, looking up at him.
”It’s not too often you see a crew with a woman, or at least with a learned one,” she said, a bit of her pride showing through her words.
”If I cleaned myself up really well and put on one of those fancy dressed we got from that ship leaving Abed a ways back, I could pass as someone higher than a commoner I would think,” she went on. She paused, taking another swig of rum. She set the bottle down with a soft clunk on the desk.
”We don’t make full port at Egjora - stay about a mile off the coast. Myself along with one or two others will take one of the rowboats to shore just outside of town,” she began.
”They can leave me in the surf at night and take the rowboat back here,” she continued. She glanced up at Raines for a moment, and seemed to lose her train of thought, her gaze shifting from his eyes briefly down to his lips, where she felt a little jolt that reminded her of what had just happened moments ago. She pulled her eyes away and cleared her throat before taking a small sip of rum.
”I’ll get into town, convince one of the merchant vessels leaving that I work for one of the Adelunan nobles and missed my ship out of Egjora,” she went on.
”Then, as they’re sailing towards Adeluna, in the middle of the night, you lot-” she broke off, reaching up and tapping Raines on the chest a few times with a playful expression.
”-can come aboard from a few small rowboats. We’ll liberate the coin while the merchants are asleep and be gone before they wake, and I’ll be gone. We can rip up the dress a bit and leave it on board along with a bit of blood so it looks like I was a victim of the raiders, and we’ll be well enough off with the coin we’ve taken,” she said.
She drew in a sharp breath and hoisted herself up onto the table so she was seated next to Raines, shoulder to shoulder - though he sat a bit higher than she, of course.
”The finer details will need to be worked out of course, and yes, I am well aware that it certainly puts me in harm’s way… but I think it will work,” she concluded.
”What do you think?” she asked, and looked up at him sideways, biting at her lower lip ever so slightly as she awaited his response - and hoping that the idea she had presented was enough to make the tension that she had created in the room a little less suffocating.

Raleigh kicked her legs up next to him, leaning back into the chair contemplating what Raines had told her about back up plans and escape routes. Honestly he was just impressed that she was evening thinking about stuff like this in her current drunken state. Raines himself could barely keep it together when he was in a state of deep drinking.
” ‘xactly. We are already thin as is, due to that incident. We need more of a plan to make this work.” he spoke to her. He had calmed a little from being annoyed, as the idea of another raid got him a little excited.
He tried to take another hit from his pipe when she suddenly stood up in front of him. He barely managed to keep the pipe from dropping from his hand. The laughter rang out through his ears as she called him a genius. He couldn’t speak a word though before he felt her hands on the sides of his face and she quickly kissed him. Stunned was not the word that he would describe the situation he was in, hell he did not even know what happened until it had already came to pass. It seems they bother we’re in the same state as the realization of what she had done washed over the woman.
They stared at each other before Raleigh finally broke the silence, apologizing and stuttering over her own words. Taking a step back, not realizing the chair was there she stumbled and Raines reached out and grabbed onto her arm pulling her up. He stepped back onto the ground and lined her up with the chair again before sitting her back down in it.
”Told ya, to stay sittin’” he told her his voice pretty flat. He then turned to the table and grabbed the bottle of rum and downed the rest of it in one large swig. Probably the largest drink he had ever took. He took the bottle and shook it before rest the empty container back on the maps corner.
Silently he walked over and grabbed another bottle and walked back to his quartermaster and placed the bottle in her lap. He undid the cork for her and sat down on the table again.
”Drink,” not the best advice he could have given someone already tipsy from drinking through out the night already.
”Once ya can speak again continue on with why I am a genius, I doubt it is because I am the best kisser in the world.” the words he spoke were probably like salt in a wound for her, but the atmosphere had changed in the room and both of them knew it.

”Hey!” she exclaimed, frowning as Raines snatched the bottle out of her hands.
”You really ought to learn how to share, you heathen,” she said, though she could hardly get the last words out through her laughter. When he wrapped his arm around her to relocate her, however, she fell silent, looking at him with a confused expression on her face as she felt herself be pulled into him as he twisted the two of them around, as though she was not entirely sure what was happening - which she wasn’t. She emitted a small noise of surprise as the action took place. Her expression almost seemed disappointed as he pushed her back into the chair.
Raleigh watched Raines with slightly narrowed eyes from her now seated position, and the moment his back was turned to her while he retrieved something from the drawer, she quickly darted up, took a fast drink of the rum (even though she was well aware that he knew that was exactly what she was going to do), set it back down and flopped back into the chair, snickering to herself. She was not attempting to be defiant - she was having a good time and she wasn’t about to let him ruin that!
”Hmm..” She quietly contemplated a bit further on the idea now that Raines seemed at least interested in what she had to say regarding the idea.
”That’s a good point,” she added, thinking. She leaned back in the chair and brought her legs up to rest right beside Raines, one ankle crossed over the other.
”Routes and avenues,” she said, quietly, and suddenly, as though she had an epiphany, she pulled her legs down from the edge of the desk and sprung up out of the chair, the movement dispersing his most recently exhaled cloud of smoke.
She moved right up to the edge of the desk, positioning herself in front of Raines. The way he was sitting allowed her to get directly up against the desk, just mere inches away from him. She looked absolutely delighted and let out a musical bit of laughter.
”Raines, you’re a damned genius!” she said, and without warning her hands reached up to lay her palm on either side of his face and she kissed him straight on the mouth - it was nothing overly intimate, just a fairly quick peck, but it seemed that Raleigh hadn’t quite realized what she was about to do until she had already done it.
She dropped her hands from his face and stared at him with wide eyes. Several things ran through her mind. The first was how incredibly pissed she though Raines was going to be for her doing what she had just done. The second was how many times she had thought about doing such a thing before, but had always quashed the impulse down. The next thought was how quickly she could snacth the rum back off the table and down it so she would forget what she had just done.
”Um. I… I mean. Your questions just gave me an idea and I… well, sorry,” she said, stuttering slightly and struggling to find out what she wanted to say. She moved to take a step backward, and bumped into the chair she had leaped out of, causing her to stumble back.

He was rather irked when she was dismissing the fact that he wouldn’t punish her like he had threatened to. He had never done so in the past because she had always came up with some way to turn it around into a blessing that she had broken a rule of his. All this time she was getting lucky and pressing the right buttons so that she slid by scratch free. She may be the next in command, but she was just prone to disciplinary actions like anyone else amongst the ship.
She walked up next to him turning the map to face the both of them. He would hear her out on this raid plan of hers, dismissing one of his crew members ideas on how to benefit the ship would cause him to lose trust in those around him even if came out of the mouth of his drunken quartermaster. She tried to explain to him, showing him the pathing the path with a finger, but her words were interrupted by giggles. Much to the captains surprise the idea that she had, had sound logic to it.
Yet again it would seem that she weaseled her way out of punishment.
He strokes his chin as he looked over the map to see other routes if they needed to escape. She told him to think about it and waved her hand, since the map wasn’t anchored down to the tabletop it started to move across. He tried to reach for it when one of her legs shot up and almost nailed him in the chin which caused him to stumble back into his chair. He caught a full view up beneath her tunic, the woman probably not even noticing in her intoxicated stupor. He shook his head and took another drink of the rum putting it on the ground so that way she would kick it on her way down.
This did not stop the woman, because when she got back down she lunges over him to get to the bottles
”Bloody fuckin’ hell,” She was giggling again as she was sprawled over his lap. His arms was up as he didn’t know what to do to get her off of him, and just allowed her to finish grabbing for the rum bottle.
She managed to finally stand up and leaned up against the table and used his leg to also support her. He should have taken the rum bottle from her, but he allowed her to get one more swig in before snatching it from her hand. He then stood up from his chair, clearly getting annoyed by her drunken behavior. He turned his head to take a drink from the bottle as to not hit her as they weren’t more than a few inches from each other.
After taking a drink he wrapped his arm around her placing his hand on the curve of her back. He turned the both of them so that they switched positions and pushed her down in the chair.
”You will be the one sittin’ seen more than enough.” Again normally he would enjoy a woman in the position she was but his annoyance was about the break. He then placed down the rum bottle at the corner of the map away from her reach and to anchor it.
”Aye you are lucky you actually were able to make a competent plan in that mind set o’yers.” He then walked over to another drawer of his.
”Don’t dare touch that bottle. he spoke without even looking at her. He was sure she would be trying to go after it with his back turned. He then walked back over and hoped onto the table with his pipe and lit again.
”So is there anymore to this plan of yours? Escape routes? Other avenues to go if we are entrapped again? he said as he blew out a stream of smoke above her.

Raleigh was clearly oblivious to any annoyance that Raines held at her presence in his quarters. In fact, she exuded no emotions other than drunken excitement, as she was clearly very excited about whatever idea it was that she had and sharing said idea with the Captain… though she was not doing the best job of it.
”Oh, is it really barging in if its me?” she said, tilting her head slightly and giving him a crooked smile from behind a few ringlets of hair.
”I had an idea, and I needed to look at the maps to think about it more… and I did not want to wait until morning. Besides, I ran out of rum, and you clearly have no shortage,” she said, nodding her head towards the shelf full of rum bottles that she had liberated one from moments earlier.
His next comment regarding her clothing, or rather lack thereof, caused her to raise an eyebrow at him.
”When in the hell have you ever cared or even noticed what I’ve been wearing?” she asked him, though it was clear the question was a rhetoric.
”I don’t sleep in my leathers,” she said rather flatly, as though she did not understand what could be seen as inappropriate in the way she was dressed. If something had previously occurred between the two, or had Raines ever expressed any interest in her as a woman, she probably would have put more thought to her appearance. But as it stood, she felt no need to put on airs.
She heard his thread of the brig, and to her, it was an empty threat.
”Oh, come off it, you know you aren’t going to do that,” she said dismissively. She ran her finger along one of the routes plotted out on the map – a route that would take them past Egjora, but out of the eyes of the fleets of vessels that patrolled the waters.
”We’ve never gone this route before,” she said, and as she did she snaked around the table so she was standing next to Raines’ chair, twisting the map so they were looking at it from the same perspective.
”If we follow the southern route to this edge and then cut straight up, out of the shipping line, we can head off the vessels on their way out of port rather than in,” she added.
”That way, we won’t be liberating goods from the vessel – we’ll be liberating the coin they’ve taken in for the goods,” she said, and it was clear that she was rather proud of herself for coming up with this option. She was also rather focused on her words, every so often pausing slightly to make sure she pronounced them correctly, which would result in a soft giggle from her breaking up the sentence.
”Think about it,” she said, with a wave of her hand. The sudden gesture sent the map she had been pointing at sliding across the edge of the table. She leaned forward across the table with her back to Raines to fetch it, her feet coming up off the floor and legs jutting out behind her. When she had grabbed the edge of the paper and pulled it back towards them, her feet landed back on the floor and she turned around. Having watched him take a swig of the rum and set the bottle back down on the floor on the side opposite to him, she took the opportunity to lean across him and reach down to grab the bottle, chuckling to herself as she did so. In no way at all did she realize she had essentially laid across her Captain’s lap just to retrieve a bottle of rum, which he would most likely snatch back out of her hands before she had the opportunity to take a drink.
She straightened back up and faced Raines, leaning back against the table, close enough to him that the outside of her leg was against his, clearly attempting to use both his leg and the edge of the table for stability so she did not waver while she stood there.
”What do you think?” she asked, lifting the bottle of rum to her lips to take a drink.

The puttering sound of the rain on the ship boards did not help the pirate captain as he tried to sleep. The night had been one of those sleepless nights as he laid on his bed, his hands behind his head staring up at the ceiling. Normal the rain on the ocean front was one of the few things that managed to put him to sleep, or drinking himself into a stupor with the rum that he had stored in his two rooms. He let out a small grunt and sat up on the edge of his bed and reached down for his tunic and belt. Getting up and putting them both, making final adjustments to his belt and axes as he walked out.
He decided it was no use to try and sleep, so he would make himself useful and patrol the ship just in case anyone decided to sneak aboard or tried to steal from them. The hall of the ship was silent as he exited his room. He knew no one would be wise enough to steal something on this level because of Raines private quarters being here.
Top from bottom stop there he thought to himself and made his ways up to the deck of the ship.
The rain was coming down pretty decently, and the waters were raging against the side of the ship. It was a minor rainfall compared to the storms that could happen in the middle of the seas. Looking around in the darkness he could see that the stuff was tied down and fastened like he had ordered before he went to rest. The crew had been far more obedient as of late, mainly due to the fact of what happened with Raleigh. The blood that was spilt that day showed that Raines meant business on the laws of his ship. Crew was hard to find he was aware of that, but he would not have disobedience on his ship.
A small glow caught his eye from the side though. He growled softly, putting his hand on the handle of one of his axes and walked over softly so that way whoever was inside would hear him. They had an intruder to his top quarters that he used as an office and staging area for raids that the ship went through, and whoever dared stepped foot into that room was an idiot. He slowly turned the handle of the door and gripped his Aze tighter before pushing hit in hastily.
He was about to throw the axe when he saw the slender figure of a woman standing over his desk. He let out a very audible sigh and closed the door behind him as Raleigh spoke. He saw the bottle of rum in her hand, and he gritted his teeth some. Once again she decided to take another bottle from him, and he doubted it would be the last as no matter where he tries to hide it she found it. He drenched footprints line the floor as she had a couple of his naps sprawled out on the table. With her fiery locks soaked like that he was sure they too were also feeling the effects of the water. He was not pleased and he would make sure that she knew that.
Before he could speak though she had waltzed over and grabbed him and brought him to the table and pushed him into his chair. A confused looked was apparent on his face. While normally if a woman had done something like this he would be all for the game, yet something that was not the reason why Raleigh had brought him over. He quickly snatched the bottle away as she slammed it on the table. He could smell alcohol on her breath as he leaned over and pointed to the table.
Raines sat the bottle on the floor beside him and turned his head to look at Raleigh.
”So ye barged in ‘ere to ‘ave me look at a map did ya.” it just occurred to the pirate how little his quartermaster was wearing. The white tunic sticking to every feature of her body and hanging off her shoulders.
”Also in if you would even call that an outfit.” he spoke picking up the bottle of rum again and taking a swig from it. She had already opened it, might as well take the opportunity. He knew though, if any of the crew saw her like that the whispers would start flying again.
”Now what makes ya think I shouldn’t throw ya to the brig? Or do you ‘ave sum plan in that crazy red head of yers thinking that I would punish ur for this?” of course he was irritated at the woman, but slightly grateful that she was acting more like herself after all that had happened.

Raleigh’s footfalls were silent and masked by the pouring rain as she darted barefoot across the deck of the ship. She had just exited her quarters, having been struck with the wonderful idea (thanks to the bottle of rum she had finished off) to check some of the maps that she knew the Captain had strewn about in one of his cabins. It was dark, and nearly all the crew was asleep, or passed out from drink, or hiding from the heavy rain, so she knew this would be the safest time to traverse the ship without being caught. It wasn’t that she was afraid of Raines catching her sneaking into his cabin, but rather she was trying to avoid any of the other members of the crew seeing such a thing. There was nothing to hide, of course, but the crew did tend to talk. After the debacle that had taken place a few weeks previous, she had been avoiding the majority of the crew when it was not necessary for her to be around them. The only remaining crewmember’s of the Misery’s End were those who had been supportive of Raines and his decision to punish those members of the crew who had committed unspeakable acts against his Quartermaster. However, Raleigh felt that they looked at her with a hint of pity in their eyes, though she knew she could just be imagining it. Avoidance just seemed to be the easiest way for her to not have to come to terms with whether or not it was true.
The Quartermaster had been successful in making her way to the cabin that doubled as an office of sorts for the Captain, and she crept her way inside. She couldn’t see any lamps burning, but she used caution upon entering in case Raines had been in there. She opened the door and stepped inside. He was not there, and she took a moment to shake out the water from her red hair, which had waved up slightly in the rain as she had made her way to the cabin. She traversed over to the desk, fumbling about before managing to light one of the oil lamps that was present. When she had sufficiently turned the knob on the lamp to give her just enough light to see, she first traipsed over to the shelf on the side of the room, scooping one of the bottles of rum from its home and pulling the cork out. She took a pull of the liquor and walked back over to the table, setting the bottle down.
It was clear that Raleigh had not originally been intending on leaving her cabin that evening. None of her hair was secured by any leather ties, and she wore a plain white tunic which was untied at the neck, falling off of one of her shoulders, revealing the intricate tattoos covering her skin. The thin cloth of the tunic had gotten rather damp on her journey to the cabin, clinging to her skin. The hem of the shirt hung midway down her thighs, keeping whether or not she wore anything beneath it a bit of a mystery – though she did wear a small pair of something resembling shorts beneath them. It was the first time in a long time she had ventured out of her cabin without any sort of weapon on her, having even left her small daggers back near her bed.
”Let’s see,” she said to herself as she found the maps she had been searching for. She took another drink of the rum with one hand, while the other spread the pages out in front of her, her fingers dragging along different shipping routes that had been plotted out.
”Might be too risky, getting that close to Sularia so soon… wonder if we should head towards Adeluna, instead,” she thought aloud, leaning forward across the table to get a better look in the dim light.
Just then, she heard the door handle move to the cabin and turned her attention to the doorway. The door opened, and Raines stood in the doorway, one hand on the handle of his axe – it was clear that he had seen the lights on in his cabin and was prepared to see who was going through his things. Raleigh, however, was clearly not concerned in the slightest.
”Now Raines I doubt you’re going to throw that axe at my head so get your hand off the handle and come here,” she said with a crooked smile, straightening up and padding barefoot across the floor towards him, the commandeered bottle of rum still in one hand. The tone of her voice gave way to the fact that the barely touched bottle of rum she held now was most certainly not the first she had imbibed from. She took a drink as she made her way toward him, and when she reached him she wrapped her hand around his forearm, as much as she could.
”Come on,” she said, and pulled him rather forcefully towards the chair at his desk, which she sort of forced him into to sit down.
”Have a drink,” she said, setting down the bottle of his rum she had taken in front of him. She went back over to the table and scooped up some of the maps, setting them on the desk in front of Raines. She went back to grab one of the lamps she had lit and brought it back over to the table so that the pages were illuminated.
”Look,” she said, pointedly, though her voice had a bit of excitement to it. She pointed at a particular route on the page leaning across the desk towards him as though she thought it was going to get her point across more, though offered no explanation. The liquor had clouded her mind enough where she did not connect to the fact that Raines would have no clue what she was talking about, instead just jabbing her finger down at the map again.
