When Jet spoke of the loneliness without his twin, she knew she had felt the same. Her brother was a moron and her father was sweet but she never had the feeling that the both of them were on the same level. Now she had someone to talk with and somebody to keep her company as she would do the same for him. Iona knew she would be more than willing to beat back the pains of loneliness that would try to claim him. He then joked, claiming he would make her his dinner.

"Is that a promise?" She challenged with a smile.

Jet's mother, Angela approached the both of them and promised her a long happy life. Then she mentioned a gift in the form of a honeymoon in her realm whenever they wanted it. A month to spend with just each other. It sounded like the perfect vacation but she would have to speak about it with Jet. Iona didn't know if his responsibilities would allow him for so much time away.

"Thank you." Iona spoke warmly to his mother.

Getting on the mother's good side was always the best way to get along with in-laws. And now she was family, which made her wonder more about the rest of the family. The only one she got a good read on was Hana. Jet's mother vanished as quickly as she came and Iona turned back to Jet. She nodded to his question and hoped his comment was true. Only time would really tell. They traveled to Trygve and a stranger covered in tattoos. Jet then stripped his tunic off and Iona's attention quickly turned back to him. She was just admiring the view as she thought about where to have her own marking. She watched as Jet's mark was finished. She was a little surprised when he growled at her after the guy suggested that she strip. Then again, if somebody had asked him to take off his pants, she might have had the same reaction.

"The upper back in the center." Iona said.

To anybody else that wouldn't be a significant space. But to her and her people, it was believed that the upper back was one of the most important parts of the body. It was where the strength came from and it was believed that the soul's endurance came from the back. Placing something on the back, whether it was a piercing or a tattoo was a way to induce strength whatever it may be. Once he was done, she walked over to Jet and showed him, beaming with pride. Once she repositioned her dress, she was scooped up and hoisted above. Laughter escaped her as she looked over the massive tribe. Suddenly, she felt a part of the tribe. There was still more to learn but she was excited to embrace her new life with Jet and with the tribe.

The magic that bound the tribes together in the tribal land was legendary. It bound mates together often for life unless something could be argued otherwise. Those who accepted the mark… They gained new senses. Angela knew this and she was fine with it, which gave Trygve some room to breathe that he hadn’t sacrificed his son.

If Jet had a moment to think past everything he was feeling he would have realized how familiar she felt now to him. A lifelong friend, a destiny for him to grab hold of. This magic was incredibly dangerous. He had a grin as he lifted her up for the kiss, he was excited that she was happy. He couldn’t just see it but now he could feel it in his bride as well.

He listened to her as he used a free hand to move back some of her black locks. “I am very happy to hear that… Maybe it won’t be so lonely now when the beast is gone…” He gave a small smile that showed just how lonely he could be when Hana wasn’t around.

“Keep smelling as good as you do… and you might just be my dinner,” Jet made the joke as he kissed her ear and put her down. “Come on there’s a party.” He brought her down into the crowd. Angela was near by and did a minor wave.

“You will have a long happy life. I’ll make sure of that,” the Mother’s eyes sparkled towards Iona before giving the bride a forehead kiss. “I do believe your father is looking for you though. We will have plenty of time to talk later. I have to go back to Elysia. My gift to you~ A month in my realm. Whenever you are ready for it.” The goddess disappeared as fast as she had appeared in front of them.

Jet didn’t know what to make of it, “Did she gift us a honeymoon?” He tilted his head. “Guess she really does like you.” Leading her to Trygve he stood next to a man with many tattoos. “Ma said you were looking for us?”

“You did promise to get the mark. No time like the present before you do it drunk. You know you don’t handle your alcohol well at all,” Trygve gruffed before laughing. “Iona, this is Ake, he is our tattoo specialist. If that’s the name for it. He will be putting your marks on you.”

Jet was quick to strip his tunic off, “No time like the present.” Taking a seat the warrior rolled his shoulders as if he was stiff from anxiety and stress. “Put it next to my shifting one ah?”

“Important is it?” Ake smirked a bit before starting the mark on Jet’s chest after getting Jet to lay down.

“Fuck off Ake,” Jet smirked and looked up at Iona. “Why wouldn’t she be?”

“Okay, loverboy fuck yer wife later. Tattoo now,” Ake flicked Jet’s nose before finishing the mark. It took him no time at all and the lines were nice and good. “Now for yer wife. Where are you going to get it? Might have to stri–”

Jet growled lightly and before long looked away, “So-sorry.”

“Nah, all the bonded do it. I should have thought about it,” Ake smirked. “Now where do you want it?”

After Iona got her mark Jet kept his shirt off as not to agitate the new mark. During the music, he scooped Iona up and hoisted her above everyone else. Everyone in the Lunar Sun tribe yelled up at her in celebration. They gained a new member today too.

Finally, their moment came. The moment of the truest of vows. The oaths made under the moon would as long as they lived.

"I am fully prepared to take on any duties needed from my husband or the tribe." Iona responded to the Shaman, "I am more than prepared for the path ahead."

She resisted sending a glance at her father who was already looking at his feet. Her words were an embarrassing reminder of how much of his work had often been handed to Iona. Once she agreed the Shaman began to tell her more of their traditions in a  tone that indicated a dislike of their speed. Iona simply smiled but took a mental note of the shaman's behavior in case it ever became a problem in the future. She moved her veil to reveal her neck, the weakest point of a wolf's body. When she looked up she saw Jet's beautiful eyes and his calmness, which dissolved any fear of pain. Iona did flinch, but it wasn't as painful as she had expected.

A surge of magic ran through her veins as the bond she shared with Jet became less like a dream and instead shifted into reality. She could hear every single breath, his strong scent, and every single thing about him somehow became… not desirable as she had already desired him. It was like she had known him forever yet only recently looked at him. Every part of him became more lovely, even the parts she hadn't noticed before. She burst into a smile and held out her arms for Jet to take her up. He embraced her and gave her a kiss. A kiss that was real and a kiss that both her and Jet were hoping for.

"I have always wondered where my place was in the world." She secretly admitted to him in a low voice, "Whatever it may be, I know it'll be with you."

Her eyes revealed she wasn't just talking about a job or duty or destiny. It was all of those things but so much more. Iona was young and she knew she had a bright future ahead of her. And now she wouldn't have to travel that path alone. Now, she had somebody who would be by her side for the rest of her life. Suddenly the scents of freshly baked pastries, roasted meats, delicate fruits, and spiced alcohol hit her nose.

"I hope we eat soon." She half-jokingly whispered to Jet.

Jet was more than happy to hear that Iona would bear the mark representing the two of them. If they were going to give it their all they needed to respect traditions for such things. His eyes looked down at the ring and they lit up. He knew Tempest’s work anywhere. The half lycanthrope was going places for sure. The brooch was just as impressive and he knew it would fit his cloak just fine.

A smirk came to his lips as he got called a hound. This would be their life then. The shaman looked between them and nodded as the drums of the tribe grew more intense. “These two wolves are mated for life unless they cannot get over their differences. Iona Ravin, do you promise to always put the tribe first and work as the beta’s wife to resolve any and all issues that you should find? You must remember that soon we will pass the torch and the chief will change. This also means that your time is coming as well Jet… Are you prepared?”

“I am,” Jet nodded and looked to Iona to make sure she was ready for such a thing too. Though he guessed she was used to the responsibility from being the Broken Ember chief’s daughter. Once Iona had said her peace the shaman took the blood of a fresh kill from the day.

“This is Jet’s kill. He demonstrated his skill to us from an early age. Know that the bloodline you are joining is fierce. The first to shift of his age. The first to take his own kill in battle. The first to hunt. The traditions in our tribe dictate that these be drawn upon the body as you will see once he is marked for marriage,” the shaman educated Iona softly. “If you were part of this tribe you would know this but since this was pushed fast…” The shaman held a glare at first. “However, it will be Jet’s job to fill you in on everything you need to know.”

Jet could feel the shaman’s hate for their decision. These things were often taken slowly, however, he had no issue teaching Iona. “I swear I will teach her our traditions and learn her own as well. Don’t fret too much.”

The shaman released a sigh and shook her head, “I’m not worried too much about you.” Hana put her hands on her hips as their eyes met. Clearly, the shaman was worried about the other half. “Going back to the task at hand… I will now mark you both with the blood of Jet’s offering.” The Shaman moved quick to draw symbols on both of their necks. The symbol of marriage that they would later tattoo somewhere else. “A wolf’s weak point is their neck. I choose this spot to bless you by the Mother Moon.”

Jet moved his neck when he had to but he kept his eyes on Iona. There was a calm to his eyes even when he flinched as the shaman drew her mark. He was cautious and hardly let anyone that close. Iona would be his exception. Once the mark was done the shaman lifted the bowl and let out a loud chant. Magic bound them and Jet became extremely aware of Iona’s existence. Her scent, her breathing, anything that was her… It made him freeze up. The tribes blew up in celebration as everyone got up, the music shifted to a lively celebration, and Jet scooped Iona up to give her their first real kiss.

“If I didn’t want you back then… I certainly do now,” Jet whispered into her ear as he hadn’t put her down. The calm in his eyes was filled with anxiety of what would come.

Iona had been fortunate that Tempest was suck a workaholic as she had been able to forge her two gifts in a matter of moments. She had pulled Tempest aside earlier and asked her to melt down some of her other silver jewelry to make something better than a piece of lace or an axe for his sister. Something that he would able to wear on him whenever he went and in whatever form he took. The ceremony was begun with a brilliant speech about joining of the two tribes. The Shaman then turned to Jet to ask her what he would offer. Then he spoke of bearing the mark of marriage on his body. Iona's tribe had their own version of this. Instead of tattoos it would take form of a piercing. But the message was still the same either way. On the outside, Iona was calm and happy. On the inside she was squealing with joy.

An excited shiver ran down her spine as he pulled close to her and asked if he could call her his little fox. Starting with nicknames already? Iona smiled at him, knowing she would have to come up with something clever later. The ring he handed her was gorgeous. The Lapis Lazuli was a deep blue with speckles of gold hidden inside. The symbolic nature of the ring and its connections to his life, to his history and to his identity was as valuable as the actual gemstone. Soon it was her turn and the Shaman asked her what she had to offer. She turned and one of her friends handed her a small wooden box. The wooden box was carved by the people of her tribe, showing symbols of flames and the shattering of the sun. All symbols with deep-rooted traditions and memories. Before she lifted the lid, she turned to the Shaman.

"I too will bear the mark of marriage." She announced before lifting the lid.

Inside was a ring made up of the silver from her melted down jewelry pieces. The image of a threaded wolf paw was on the front and sides of the ring. It was something she asked Tempest to do personally, as it represented the thread of life mixed with the life of a wolf. The brooch held the symbols of fate which bound and moved everything in the known and unknown universe. She reached for his hand and placed the ring on him. Then she took the silver brooch and placed it in his hand.

"The ring symbolizes life in both forms and offers you protection in whatever form you take." She explained, "The brooch represents the threads of fate which bind us to every destiny and destroys every path."

She leaned in for a moment, for barely a second and was able to whisper a phrase.

"If I am the fox, then you must be the hound." She smirked.

Soon the Shaman continued with the ceremony.

Jet had been flustered since Iona left him. He had never paid attention to the women kin of his tribe. He was always working to make his father proud and the one woman he had been interested in… He couldn’t have so he let it all go. Iona was awakening it all in him. Angela was finding it all amusing. Jet knew where the lace was from. He kept it with him for the next day thinking about it.

Angela did Jet’s hair for him. It looked so neat compared to how it normally was. He wore a deep blue tunic that had sleeves rolled up to his elbows. It wasn’t fancy but it didn’t outshine Iona or the night. He looked well put together for how the men of tribes normally were. He was clearly groomed. His eyes were glued to Iona. The tribes stood up together as Iona came through with her father.

Angela stood off to the side with Trygve and gave Iona a nod. They would be blessed by the Mother Moon tonight and not her. This was tribal tradition. Iona was handed over to Jet and they stood in front of the tribe’s shaman. She gave a great speech about the joining of tribes. While Jet and Iona weren’t marrying for love they were for their respective tribes.

“Jet, have you decided what you will offer Iona?” The Shaman looked at him.

“I will bear the mark of marriage on my body for her.” There was an audible gasp. There was whispering. They were a political marriage and they must not have expected it. “But also… For my wife to be.” He motioned to Hana who was dressed like a proper lady. “The symbol of my mother’s people. The lapis lazuli…” He pulled out a beautifully crafted ring. “Your dress was crafted by the first part of the pair so I thought it was only fitting that the second part of the pair craft your ring. From Sularia, made by the blacksmith Tempest… I give you your band. The most precious stone in all of Sularia.” He slid it onto her finger and it fit perfectly.

He leaned in and put his mouth to her ear, “You really shouldn’t tease me. I’ll think of you more as a fox than a wolf… Should I call you my little fox?” It wasn’t loud for anyone else to hear thankfully. He pulled back with a grin.

“Iona, do you have something to offer Jet?” The shaman seemed pleased with all of it.

She only realized after the fact how much of a distraction she'd be the moment she stepped in the room. Iona couldn't help but smirk at the fact that her mere presence was more than enough to distract him. Perhaps he would be this shy later on when there were less clothes involved. Now that she had secured his oath, she felt confident in his honesty and in herself being honest to him. She was determined to avoid the trappings of her parent's temporary marriage.

"Excellent. Now I want to give you something. The gift I gave to you ended up going to your sister." Iona said with a small smile, "So I have something else to offer you."

Reaching into her sleeve, she pulled out a piece of lace that had been untied from somewhere. It was too small to be something from her hair. Too long for socks or shoes. Placing the item in his hand, she moved in close, inches away from his ears.

"I'll let you guess where it came from." Iona whispered.

With that, she left the axe throwing competition and headed to her own tent for some rest. It was only in her tent that her face turned pink as she realized exactly what she had done. Iona wanted to give him the lace but the delivery and behavior were all completely improvised. Slamming her head into her pillow, she gave out a little squeal of excitement. Had she known this was how it would have turned out, she wouldn't have been as worried before.
—————————–
The day passed quickly and before she knew it, she was dressed in a new lighter wedding gown with a veil tucked underneath a crown of flowers. Her makeup and hair had been prepared to perfection. Beautiful and enchanting music flowed from outside her tent as she stared at the mirror that was provided for her. Iona's stomach was in knots and her face was like a stone statue. For some reason she felt nervous. It was the exact opposite of the confidence she had brought earlier. Perhaps now… now she had something to lose. Something was at risk.

The bride took a few moments to breathe and walked around the small tent, wondering when they would call her to step into the night of marriage and festivity. Her two friends had left to go join the rest of the crowd, leaving her to her thoughts. Iona remembered the promises that Jet had made to her. The oaths sworn to her and only her. And she too had sworn the same. She couldn't doubt him now. With a sense of regained confidence, she continued to wait for her cue.

Then she saw her father step into the room. His eyes grew wide with amazement at his daughters shining beauty. Yet in his heart he knew he would miss her dearly. Her father cleaned up his watered eyes and held out his hand for Iona. She took it eagerly and stepped out from the tent and into the moonlight. The sky above was a tapestry of diamonds and light. The path before her that lead to the pavilion was surrounded by paper lanterns. Each tree had a shining lantern of blue, purple, white, or some other color that represented a night theme. A bonfire had been prepared for dancing and warmth while clean wooden tables were prepared with dishes yet to be touched.

The pavilion was the shining jewel of the space. White little cosmos flowers surrounded the pavilion's grass while the roof of the pavilion left a circle just fit for the full moon to shine through. Each column of the pavilion had fairy lights wrapped around it while the view from the pavilion showed a beautiful grassy field embraced by the stars. The sight of everything left her breathless. His mother certainly knew what she was doing. She followed her father's guidance up to the pavilion where he handed her off to the most wonderful sight of all. Jet in an outfit that his mother picked for him.

This was it.

Kite sat in front of Iona and sketched loosely the dress she wanted. A fox woman was with him looking over his shoulder. There was obvious romantic signs between them as Kite would reach up and take her hand whenever she gave him a good idea. He showed her the sketches and let Iona pick one. “I can have it done no problem. Anythings for a favorite cousin~”

Jet was busy trying to get his nerves down. He had his shirt off and he was hurling axes into a target. Once he saw Iona he stumbled a bit and missed his target. “HOLY SHIT JET!” One of the men yelled as the axe was implanted above his head with force.

“Sorry!” Jet yelled with a cringe before looked at Iona as she took his hands. “I was… trying to not be nervous.” He tilted his head as he held her hand to his face. “You can trust that I’m not going to lie to you, Iona. I promise on my name as the warrior of this tribe.” That meant a lot especially since he was a leading position. It was a promise on his life. “Hana was right. I am loyal and you give me no reason to doubt you.”

He leaned down and kissed her forehead. “Don’t you worry about none of that with me. My mother would fucking kill me before you ever had to.”

Her eyes widened with surprise at the number of siblings. Over a hundred?! Iona knew right there and then that she would never volunteer to host any family gathering events. Angela approached them, still holding onto Trygve's beard, and calmly spoke about getting Iona a new dress. Then she mentioned a bitch and how she told her she was fat. Iona's brow furrowed in confusion until she heard a booming voice from above.

A group of dragons approached with a red dragon as it's leader. The first thing the dragon rider did was punching Angela in the face. Jet then told her that woman was his aunt Toya. She could only see the family resemblance with Hana. Iona looked around and spotted Hana who was holding a mini funeral. She was holding a funeral for Jet's balls. Iona covered her mouth to keep herself from bursting with laughter.

Eventually preparations for the wedding continued and Iona was introduced to a tall blonde man named Kite, the person Angela got punched in the face for. Iona sat him down and talked with him over the dress. She wanted something loose and more comfortable than her last gown. Iona wanted to keep the lace but add a new veil that incorperated flowers. Iona gave him her measurements and anything else that was needed.

After dealing with the dress situation, she went in search of Jet. It hadn't been long since they parted but she had a few things to ask him. Once she found him, she grabbed his hand and began to inspect it.

"Your hands are warm." She observed before putting his face next to her hand, "Can we agree not to have any secrets between us? Honesty is important to me and I've seen what can happen when a couple lies. Even the little white lies."

Author: Jet, Posted: Sun Jul 11, 2021 8:06 PM, Post Subject: The True Beast [P][R]

Jet held a look for a moment, “Not all of them will be here. A lot of them are busy but I have… over one hundred siblings…” He looked at his mother who was scolding Trygve by grabbing his beard.

“When was the last time you washed this?”

“You aren’t my wife.”

“You damn well need one,” Angela said with concern as she waggled his head around holding his beard.

“You need a new dress since Jet ruined yours~” Angela spoke calmly as she kept pulling on Trygve’s beard. “Luckily for us… The bitch is doing her rounds.” It was clear who they got their attitudes from. “So I told her she was fat~”

“ANGELA YOU OLD FUCKING HAG,” the voice thundered from the horizon as a group of dragons appeared.

“Oh good, you’re here.” Toya flew down on a red dragon as she landed skidded off and decked her sister in the face.

“That’s for calling me fat!” Toya yelled angrily. “What the fuck do you want?” A ten-year-old boy with blonde curls hopped off of the dragon and came over near Toya.

“Well, Jet is getting married… I need to borrow Kite for his wife. She wants to be married tomorrow.” Angela huffed a bit. “I wouldn’t have called you for any old reason.”

“Oh… could have said that instead of being a bitch.”

“It’s for the boulder that went through my window this morning.”

“Oh… AURORA YOU LITTLE SHIT,” Toya screamed and a woman who looked like Toya hid behind the dragons that landed. “STOP PESTERING YOUR COUSIN! PUNCH HER IN THE FACE LIKE I DO YOUR AUNT!” Toya screamed.

Jet leaned over and whispered to his bride-to-be, “That’s my aunt Toya.”

Hana was over on the ground with a small grave the size of her shoe. Jet quirked an eyebrow.

“Hana? What are you doing?”

“I’m holding a funeral for your balls now that you are getting married.” Hana was praying and clapping her hands. “Please grant Jet’s balls a new lease on life in his next life. Thank you.”

To her surprise, Jet seemed to have a plan. He shouted at the top of his lungs at the air. Then she remembered how Angela was always there to keep Hana in line. Perhaps she always had an eye on her kids. Suddenly a portal appeared with an explosion as an upset Angela stepped through. Jet played her like a fiddle and got her to take up the mantel of preparing the ceremony herself. Jet gave her a kiss on the head and asked if she chose tomorrow on purpose.

"Of course!" She smirked, "I knew it would be more fun that way."

Iona had her doubts on whether a legitimate ceremony could be pulled together by tomorrow night but chose to say nothing. Either way, she was determined that she would be a wife by tomorrow night. Ceremony or no ceremony. However the fact that all of Jet's siblings would be showing up made her wonder how many people would be at the wedding.

"Jet, out of pure curiousity, how many siblings do you have?" Iona asked.

She had to guess at least seven, six, eight or possibly even ten. His family seemed like it was a large one. Since she was going to be his wife, she also wanted to know this information in case they chose to visit in the future.

Author: Jet, Posted: Sun Jul 11, 2021 7:34 PM, Post Subject: The True Beast [P][R]

Jet put his arm around Iona’s waist. “I think I can solve the issue of the ceremony.” He waved his hand.

“MA! I’m not having a wedding and you have to deal with it!” Jet yelled at seemingly nothing.

There was a portal with an explosion as Angela came through. Angela was coughing and waving her hand, “What?! What do you mean?!” Trygve ran over and helped her through the portal.

“Iona wants to get married tomorrow. So, there’s no time.” Jet waved his finger.

“No son of mine is just going to elope!” Angela got red in the face. “WHAT DO YOU NEED?!” Angela got with the elders and she gave them everything they would need. “NO, SON OF MINE IS NOT HAVING HIS WEDDING BECAUSE OF ILL-PREPAREDNESS.” Angela put her hands on her hips.

“Ma, your hair is smoking…” Jet pointed.

Angela picked up her long hair and blew on it. “It’s fine. Alchemy. It happens. I have to inform your siblings of the wedding.” Angela put up her hand. “We don’t miss a party. None of us.”

“She’s the master of weddings… and she hates it when her sons just elope,” Jet whispered to Iona before kissing her temple. “So? Tomorrow night? Tomorrow is a full moon… Did you do that on purpose?” He looked at Iona.

"It's good they get a little scared now and then. Otherwise they'll get too comfortable."

They needed to return at some point, much to her disappointment. She swam to the edge of the pool and dragged herself out. Her clothes made her a heavy stone but she managed. They made their way back to camp and Jet offered one of Hana's clothes to borrow. She would have to thank Hana later and possibly apologize for borrowing without asking. Iona took the dress and changed into it in Hana's tent then came back out. The dress fit her fairly well, though loose around her arms since she lacked the arm muscles.

Once she came back she listened as Jet explained the next step and what they would be discussing. He told her about how he would be fine with whatever she wanted. A smile formed on her face as an idea popped into her head. The elders were all together and she had Jet by her side.

"Tomorrow. I want to marry him tomorrow." She boldly declared.

The elders were frozen with shock and even her own father seemed flabbergasted. They clearly had been expecting some sort of resistance and far more time.

"We can't do tomorrow." One of the elders protested, "There wouldn't be time to prepare a ceremony or-"

"Forget the ceremony!" Iona asserted, "I'd like to be married as soon as possible."

She turned to Jet and gave him a little smooch on the cheek.

"I won't get a catch like him in a hundred years."

Jet was normally the good one but for Iona, he was acting out. It made Trygve relax a bit more about the boy. He had always been the one who cleaned up after Hana. Always the one who didn’t get a say in how things were happening. He looked happy for once. “Well, it wasn’t what I intended to do but I guess it got the point across,” he gave Iona a grin as they were left alone.

He circled his arms around her and floated on the surface of the water. “We can’t stay here long buttttt…. Your clothes are wet. I bet Hana has something you can borrow.” Jet whistled and Rune came down and around for them and before long Jet was putting her back up and taking her back to the camp. “Will take two seconds.” He went into the smaller tent and rummaged around before offering her up a short dress. “It’s the only thing that might fit you. You can get changed in her tent.”

Jet himself got changed and made his way back over to Rune waiting for her. “They are going to want up to make our case for being married. In this case, I suppose when we’re going to do it.” He was looking at her almost as if he was being sucked in by her eyes. “You can tell them whatever you want. I’ll be okay with it.” He wasn’t about to force her into anything.

Getting back to the elders Jet and Iona stood side by side. “I’m turning over all decisions for the date to Iona and I’ll respect her wishes.” He spoke easily before stepping back to let Iona say her peace. He didn’t know what she would do but his father nodded to him as if its what he would have done too.

Iona laughed as she watched the shamans and her father grow into a panic. They shouted and demanded but Jet refused to turn around and take her back. This was one of the few times she enjoyed the rules of pillaging. They galloped off together as her father's face grew a pale white. He almost looked like he was about to faint. The horse was fast and it felt like they were riding on the wind.

"My intelligent sweet daughter!" The chief despaired, "I should have married Kylan off instead!"

Meanwhile Jet and Iona approached a swimming hole they had for summer. The swimming hole looked beautiful but the water would likely be icy below. She peered over the edge when she was suddenly picked up in Jet's arms. It didn't take her more than two seconds to understand what he was going to try. Iona screeched as they ran and jumped off into the cold water. The screech carried back to the campsite. Her panicked father, her brother, the group of ladies, all ran in their direction. Iona resurfaced and splashed Jet several times. The group finally made it to the couple and was surprised to see them splashing each other. Iona looked up at her father and everyone else inquisitively.

"I know running off was unexpected but you all need to calm down," Iona said with a small smile.

"I'm sorry my dear. I just thought." The chief began then stopped.

"Father go back to your tent, meditate, and relax." Iona instructed, "At this rate, you'll be jumping at every shadow you see."

Her father gave her a nod. Iona looked to everyone else and gave them a little shoo with her hands before swimming back to Jet.

"You scared them half to death." She said with a smirk.

“JET ARNE THURGOOD YOU BRING HER BACK,” some of the older shamans yelled.

“Nah, rules of pillaging are in effect. She is mine~” Jet yelled back and he made Rune gallop away.

“DID YOU SEE THAT CHIEFS? He took off with the bride to be!”

“Looked like he saved her to me~” Trygve said. “My boy wouldn’t do anything he shouldn’t with her.”

Jet was taking her to the swimming hole they had for the summer, “See? Isn’t it great?” He had her above it and getting off Rune he pulled her off. “Doesn’t it look cold?” His voice was trying not to laugh as he gripped her in his arms and ran off the edge. “HERE WE COME!” They splashed into the cold water below.

Kylan, embarrassed by the whole situation, ran off to go sulk somewhere. Meanwhile, Iona was busy trying to focus on something more entertaining. Jet had run off somewhere, leaving her to the mercy of the gossips. Normally she enjoyed gossip but when it came to discussing the horrors of childbirth, it somehow did not entertain her. Rune suddenly made a noise and she spotted Jet's impressive return and those impressive abs. Hana sighed at the fact that she had no horse to compete with. It didn't surprise her, knowing Hana's disposition.

"You need a good horse to show off your talents. Not just any steed." She said to Hana, trying to make her feel better.

The gossiping woman tried to continue their conversation but Jet had stolen her focus completely. The jumping and stunts along with the cheer of the men was impossible to ignore, and she'd rather not try.

"Iona! You simply must listen. We are trying to help you learn about the future of womanhood!" The orange lady exclaimed as she moved, happening to block her view of Jet, "You can always ogle men later."

Iona was doing everything in her power to stop herself from rolling her eyes. There was a certain level of politeness she felt she should show to these women and the rest of the tribe. Suddenly, Jet rammed his horse carefully into the group of women. She reached out for him with a smile as he scooped her off and they rode off. As they rode, she looked to the women and flashed them a devious smile, as if she had planned for this somehow.

"I daresay I collected a fine prize too." She said with a smirk.

He put his lips to her ear and a delightful shiver ran down her spine.

"Yes. Show me anything as long as I don't have to hear dreary birthing tales." She whispered back.

Jet listened to Iona scold her father. “And for the love of god do not let him try and force a woman into marriage. The Lord Dipshit whos taking over here… I should say Former Dipshit…” Jet joked at the chief’s son’s expense. “Tried to make Hana marry him. Hana kicked his ass here to the river eight miles. Literally. AND THROUGH A HOUSE.”

Jet looked disappointed when Iona was stolen from him. “Guess you’ll have to party alone Jet.”

“Nah, she doesn’t want to go. I know what to do. Rune is going to hate me.” He went back got the horse and luckily their was a few jumps set up near where Iona was. Rune had listened to Jet. “Listen man, they took Iona and looked how miserable she is.” He turned Rune’s head to look at Iona. “Now we like Iona right?” Rune let out a noise that made all the women look in his direction and Jet winked towards Iona.

He took off his shirt and got up on the horse. “I say we have a competition boys. Like we used to when we were younger.” The men cheered and they got their horses as Jet began to show off on the horse. He was standing up on Rune doing a variety of high-risk tricks. When his turn was over there was cheering and he back-flipped off Rune.

“God damn show off,” Hana mumbled. “I don’t got no horse I would shove the whole competition up their asses.” Somehow she ended up next to Iona and she was pouting about it. The men were cheering on Jet’s name now as he got back up on Rune just by jumping and stunting. However, the man did something weird as he noticed someone cut Iona’s view off of him.

He rammed the horse through the crowd. All the ladies were screaming, “The first rule of pillaging ladies. The victor gets the spoils.” He yelled it as he scooped Iona up and took off with her. “And what a fine prize I have.”

“You looked bored~ so I decided to save you," he put his lips to her ear. "Wanna see our swimming hole?"

"Thank you for the warning." Iona sighed, "My aunts do the same thing, but maybe less fear-mongering. I'll be fine."

Her aunts did have the talk with her and explained how childbirth would work. The discussion was meant to prepare her for a raging beast who had a threat of brutality. They simply didn't know what to expect from the beastly suitor. So they carefully explained what may happen while trying not to scare her. Iona wasn't thrilled about a conversation with the women but she knew she could smile through it. She was lifted onto Rune and she gently held onto the mane. They trotted to the camp as the grand celebrations continued. A sea of women had gathered closer to them, staring at Iona like a cat would at a bird.

"The biggest traitor but easy to manage." She laughed.

Hana and the families were waiting for their return, though it was mostly her father and brother. Once she was on the ground, Jet smacked the back of Rune and sent him right off towards the grain at home. Her father walked up to her, clearly concerned about something.

"Iona I-" He began.

"Kylan needs some severe improvements." Iona said getting to the heart of the issue, "I've carried out my duties and it's time he completed his. Additional lessons, more training, harsher teachers, and anything else that will get the stupid out of him."

"Hey!" Kylan protested.

"When you finally realize that he is unsuited for the role of leadership then it's your duty to find someone else. Your personal affections for him can never get in the way of the tribe's future. Remember that, father."

Her words were cutting and harsh but her father and chief listened to them silently. The truth of her words, however painful they were, rang sharp and clear as any bell. Despite her serious expression, there was a sense of satisfaction in her mind. Her father had asked her to risk her love life and future happiness for her tribe. She obliged but she was determined to make sure he wouldn't ignore his own duties in turn. Kylan was a fool and she fully knew he wouldn't be able to handle the position, no matter the teachings. He lacked wisdom and the self-awareness that made a true leader. But her father knew the alternative family members who would be able to take his place.

Before she could say anything else, a group of women interrupted and whisked her away to have their own conversations with her. They were a bubbly gossiping group of women of all ages. They had her sit down with them and began their discussion. First, they discussed the ceremony, what they liked about it, their own ceremonies, their own marriages, marriage in general, then finally settled on the topic of childbirth.

"I don't mean to scare you, my dear," A woman in orange began, "But childbirth is one of the most painful experiences you'll ever find."

"Yes. It may seem nice and sweet at first but then you get to the birthing and the sickness before that." Another woman spoke, "I once had a cousin's cousin's twice removed sister who was very weak. She was so weak that when she gave birth to a child, she almost died! Thankfully the midwife saved her but she was never able to sit down after that."

"She was lucky! I've had a friend who had a miscarriage then died!" A woman in purple exclaimed.

"She can't have been a part of our tribe!" Someone jumped in.

"Well…no. But it was still grisly." The woman in purple admitted, "Oh and then there's the chance of illness. My great aunt-"

Iona began to scan the crowd of women for something else to pay attention to. She spotted Jet. He had a nice butt.

“The only stress this bad boy feels is when he isn’t allowed his grain for kicking the stable boy after war. He gets rowdy just like I do. We like riding into war… Don’t we boy?” Rune let out a high pitched neigh as he shook his mane.

“Well, we can make our case for when we want to get married. They will come looking for us~ Then after that, it’s up to the tradition. I bet the women will steal you. I heard they do this gross things where they discuss childbirth… Listen, I’ve helped my mother deliver babies. It’s not as bloody as they try to say since they are scaring you.” Jet rolled his eyes. “Only sometimes. However, my mother is a trained doctor so I wish they would leave you alone~ but they do love gossip.”

Not even getting a saddle for Rune he put Iona upon him. “Hold onto his mane gently. Sif stay like a good girl.” Sif was already resting. They made it back to the party and girls on both sides were taking a gander at the way they were acting together.

Jet had his arms around Iona’s waist helping her direct Rune. “Just give him little tugs here or there and he’ll listen to you. He listens to anyone who gives him grain… Which might make him the biggest traitor we have in this camp.”

“There you are~ We thought you ran off with Iona!” Hana yelled up.

“And even if I did… Isn’t that the point?” Jet gave a smirk. “I was showing her Rune.” Jet helped her guide Rune over to where their families were. He could see her father and brother looking them over in surprise. Jet got off effortlessly before picking Iona up off Rune. “Okay.” Rune looked at Jet. “Go home.” He smacked the back of Rune who yelled at him before galloping back into the camp. “See? Anything for the grain we left.”

Without a single word, she was lifted into the air and on the golden saddle. She held onto the golden thing as Jet led Sif around. He explained what she liked to eat, the cream puffs being the most surprising snack, and the stables near the tent. When they were near the stables she jumped down with Jet's help. Iona noticed his comfort and smiled as she realized her own easyness around him. Sif walked off to take a rest in the hay bed as they approached Rune. A beautiful black horse with multiple braids approached them and nipped at Jet's hair. Iona reached up to the horse, letting it sniff her hand first before she made an effort to stroke its neck. The horse was strong and beautiful, though she felt that her Sif was uncomparable.

"The horse is beautiful." She said with a smile then leaned in to inspect its mane, "Fascinating. Sometimes black horses will have a grey or white hair either due to stress or age, but he must have had a good life."

In the back of her mind, she was thinking about the lackluster gift she had given, no it never even got to Jet. She would have to find a gift for him later. Something that he would truly like. It would take time for her to find an item like and figure out his tastes. Maybe decoration for the horse? Iona pushed those thoughts aside and turned her attention to Jet with a curious look on her face.

"What happens now?" Iona asked.

The looked of amazement on Iona’s face was worth everything. Sif was gentle as Jet had taught her to be. What surprised Jet was Iona suddenly pulling him down into a kiss. The tribes broke out into a celebration. The hollering and the partying were starting to begin again.

Jet was speechless as he kissed her back. His arm went around her waist like an expert and his face was flush. Easily and without words he picked her up with one arm and put her up on the saddle like an expert. “Here. Hold on here.” He pointed to something on the saddle for her to hold while he led Sif.

“She likes to eat the grass of the plains and wildflowers are some of her favorite snacks compared to her siblings. Though we did find out she goes apeshit over cream puffs from Sularia. My sister Wisteria had been snacking on them while I was feeding her and she got a hold of one. I’ve never seen her get so excited. Wouldn’t recommend giving them to her often though. As for shelter. Near my tent is a nice stable. She can stay in there with my horse. My horse Rune and Sif are familiar with each other.”

The stable was built sturdy and a beautiful all-black horse with many braids came to the gate as Jet got near. “He heard us coming~” Jet smirked a bit. “I think you’ll like Rune too.” He helped her off and got a bucket of grain. “He goes nuts for this… Be careful he also likes hair.” Now that he was more comfortable he kissed the top of her forehead and moved her towards Rune with the bucket after opening the gate. Sif led herself in and laid down in the hay bed.

“Come here you asshole,” Jet laughed as Rune ran around them and took a nip at his hair. “Oh thank you. Now please be obedient. Look what we have for you.” Rune looked over Iona’s shoulder and got excited as he made a noise.

Iona was glad that the axe would get used by somebody. Perhaps it wasn't a mistake that they brought the axe. Her sister-in-law was swinging it around like it was her new favorite toy. At least it would be put in good…. maybe not good use but it would be used.

"Well the axe was made to win over the beast." She said with a small chuckle, "At least we know the design would attract the beast."

Suddenly he requested for Angela to open a gate. His mother obliged and he returned with a gorgeous elk. Iona's hands flew to her mouth as she gasped at the sight. The elk was as white as snow and its massive antlers were decorated with sparkling crystals. On its back was a golden saddle and its size was massive, even for an elk. For a moment Iona just stood there in shock. Then she slowly made her way to it. She reached out her hand for the elk to sniff it, so it would get familiar with her. Iona knew little about taming animals since she always just observed them. The elks sniffed her hand then seemed to move forwards, as if wanting her to touch it already.

"Her name is Sif." Iona repeated with a smile.

In all her life, she had never seen such a beautiful animal. She gently touched its silk fur and slowly stroke its neck. The creature was gentle and patient with her, as if she was the one who needed to be tamed instead of Sif. Iona couldn't stop smiling. Then she suddenly turned to Jet, grabbed his face and pulled him in for a kiss. She'd never kissed someone like that in her life but she was surprisingly good at it. All the joy, happiness, and surprise from the wonderful gift was poured into that kiss. Then she finally freed him and turned back to the elk, starting to ask all sorts of questions about it.

"What does she eat?" She asked, "And where should she sleep? I've never had a steed of my own. I know how to ride of course."

Jet flushed a bit at her friends and rubbed the back of his neck carefully. “Thanks, ladies… I think.”

Once the ceremony started he looked nervous but taking a breathe he held a smile towards her. She was up first in reciting the vows. He was glad he got to know who she was at least a little bit. “I, Jet Arne Rose-Thurgood, swear not only to the Mother Moon of my fatherland but also the Soul-stream of my motherland. I swear not only in life to take this woman as my wife but also to keep this promise in death. I will watch over her, protect her, and support her in everything she does. She will be my partner and not considered below me but as my companion in life. She will always have my shield should she need it.”

Once the dancing begun Jet showed some skills that most from the other tribe had no idea about. Thanks to Sularia he excelled in it as Sularia was the land of parties. His mother made sure he knew how to dance well. He would be ready to court when the time came. If anything he was the only one who paid attention out of the twins. “It’s alright. Hana still steps on toes.” Hana was dancing like a maniac trying to seduce Wesley and it looked like she knew she had no idea what she was doing.

Once the gift giving was ready Jet started to laugh. “I can see who this was for.” Hana ran over and grabbed it.

“I LOVE IT. Okay, we’re keeping her. You better not fuck this up,” Hana was poking his chest.

“Yeah, yeah. I like her too.” Jet said with a blush and Hana was waving the ax around. “Well, you won the beast over.”

Angela standing with Trygve and they were whispering about something. Looking at Jet who had no one nearby with a gift. “Mother? Can you open a gate to Elysia?” Jet looked up at Angela with a nod.

“Ohhh?” Angela looked amused. What did he have hidden in her realm? The gate opened and Jet disappeared for a bit. Soon the man came back through with a white elk. Perhaps the biggest that anyone from the Broken Ember tribe had seen before. Its large antlers had ornate crystals hung down on them. It was saddled with a beautiful gold seat. “HEY!” Angela was shocked.

“You did say that they were mine to do whatever with,” Jet said with a smile. “These are elks that long ago should have died out. Iona… I would like to gift you Sif. I just named her. Sif means Bride or Wife. So take good care of her. She is a good steed.” He led the elk over and offered Iona the reigns.

“You must really like her if you are giving her some of my prized Celestial Elks…” Angela crossed her arms and pouted. “Fine, take good care of her.”

"Tarot readings. That would explain her predictions." Iona muttered.

One of her grandmothers participated in tarot readings and was the one who explained visions. Jet then described how he picked up on his mother's way of romancing while Hana just screamed at Wesley to fuck her. Iona almost spat out the drink that had been handed to her at that. She tried to keep herself from laughing then listened to him explaining their traditions. She knew about the gifts since they had already brought one. The idea of that gift made her feel red in the face with embarrassment. If only she hadn't relied so heavily on the rumors. Jet then noticed some of her friends were trying to get her attention. Iona smiled and walked over to a blonde named Gela and a brunette named Beli who both approached her eagerly.

"Wow. He's really handsome." Beli said with a smile, "I was expecting somebody with no hygiene and a giant unkept beard. It looks like you got lucky."

"No kidding! Are you sure we can't take a round with him?" Gela asked with a smirk.

"Sorry dears. You'll have to find your free dicks somewhere else." She teased them, "There's an entire tribe out there. Take your pick."

The three seemed to be close enough to joke about but she was very careful in showing Jet was hers. The two girls respected it and ran off to go find those dicks they were so excited about. Soon they were ready for the ceremony to begin. They were ushered up to a small hill near the feasting where the moon and the stars shone brightest. A beautiful ribbon in the colors of both tribes with gold from the Lunar Sun and dark red from the Broken Ember. After the ribbon was tied around their hands, it was time for their vows.

"By the moon and the stars above I, Iona Memoria Rivin promise to take this man as my husband. I swear encourage him, trust him, and treasure him as my equal and my lover. From here on and forevermore he will always know companionship in me."

Iona had carefully written her vows and memorized them to prevent her from messing it up. However, she made sure the vows were of her own making and from the heart. When she wrote it she didn't know if she would be able to fall in love with him. But now, she felt they had a stronger chance with each other than anybody else. Once the vows were over they went to an open space to begin the dance. The couple were meant to start first and the rest of the tribe could join in afterwards. The sky above them was a tapestry of stars with the full brilliant moon as its centerpiece. The dance began slow but quickly sped up to a fast pace. She wasn't an expert on dancing but could follow along well enough. Luckily, Jet was there and able to help her when she forgot a move. The pounding of drums and the sound of a sharp flute accompanied the dance as more and more joined in to celebrate. She did one last spin and finished the dance. Her breathing was heavy and she glad to have a break.

"Sorry for stepping on your toes." Iona said softly to Jet, "I didn't practice enough back home."

Now it was time for the most embarrassing and dreaded part of the ceremony. The gift giving. With a sigh, Iona motioned for Beli and Gela to bring the gift. In a matter of moments they returned with a giant black axe. The handle had a barrage of skulls on it as decorations while extra spikes decorated the bottom of the axe's handle in case he wanted to jab someone in the head with it. The entire weapon was meant for someone kill crazy.

"Yeah. This had been meant for the beast." She admitted with a slightly pink face.

“Ma? It’s just something you learn about her. She gets these instincts that she can’t explain and she goes with them. Though for romance… I’m pretty sure she visits my aunt Lily for a future reading. My aunt specializes in tarot reading for romance.”

Jet gave a sly smile, “Maybe I paid attention to my mother and how she romances people a lot more than I thought. The only person I’ve ever seen romance someone is Hana… and well her romance is yelling at Wesley to fuck her good.”

Once they arrived at their party Jet motioned to everything in front of them. “We will do a ceremonial dance to the moons asking for their blessing. My mother is also going to do a blessing… We will exchange gifts to each other. Then we will have a hunt together as a single tribe. We will eat first then everyone else will eat.”

Trygve looked over at his son, “Speaking of gift…”

“I have one.” Jet looked over. “The perfect one.”

“…” Trygve gave him a look as he knew that Jet most certainly didn’t have one. Something about wanting to meet Iona first.

“Oh Iona,” Jet pointed. “I think your friends are trying to get your attention.” Jet nodded at them to approach the ceremonial table where they were sitting.

There was a sense of relief in her mind after hearing his honest opinion. She wanted to make sure that there weren't any miscommunications. Placing her heart in something, no matter how big or small was always a risk. Iona would regret putting her heart with someone who would never look her way. She had seen how it affected her friends. It was a risk she wanted to avoid as much as possible.

"I'm inclined to be optimistic about us. And no disrespect to your mother but how would she be so certain?" Iona asked, "Today was the first time I'd met her."

She knew of The Mother's fame and was fully aware of who she was. Yet she wondered if it was even possible to guess on two people's relationship potential and be completely certain about it. Iona smiled lightly as she accepted the kiss on the forehead. Her cheeks had turned rosy at the kind gesture.

"For a someone who claims to be trash at romance you certainly have a knack for it. Maybe it's beginner's luck?"

There was a playful smile on her face as she pushed herself to her feet. They made their way across the field and gathered up the discarded outfits. Iona managed to get most of the dress on but struggled with the cleverly hidden buttons on the back. To her surprise, Jet reached over and helped her by finding each button and clasp that she was unable to reach. He had many younger sisters which explained much about his behavior.

"Thank you. I'd rather not bend over backwards trying to get those." Iona said gratefully.

She took his arm and walked with him back into camp. He introduced her to a few people but she already knew she wouldn't remember a single one of them. As Jet suspected, Hana had already begun her drinking. The idea of Hana getting pups sounded chaotic at best but she also wondered if a few of them would develop Wesley's behavior. Either extreme politeness or extreme chaos. Somehow it was fitting. She noticed the wink but shrugged it off and sat down with Jet.

"What will we be doing?" She asked, "I don't know many of your traditions."

Author: Jet, Posted: Thu Jul 8, 2021 10:39 PM, Post Subject: The True Beast [P][R]

He listened to her response about animals and he smirked, “It’s okay to have a hobby like that.”

Once she was down he turned his attention to her and rolled on his side to get a better look at her. He felt his cheeks flush up and he regretted being so new to everything. “I might be trash at romance.” He was being harshly honest with himself. “But I would like to try. It’s better if we both do… Don’t you think? We got the better part of a lifetime and we might as well get along in the best ways possible. The blessing of the moon mother isn’t something to be taken lightly. The blessing of The Mother isn’t taken lightly either. We’ll have both…”

He paused for a moment and closed his eyes again in thought. “Ma didn’t put up much of a fight when it got brought up… I bet it's because she has a good feeling.” He looked at her and moved his hand to push her hair behind her ear. “You have to trust her when she does weird things… They are always for a reason.”

Taking the initiative but not wholly he pushed himself and kissed her forehead. “I think at the very least it will be fun… but speaking of fun. We’ll be late for our own engagement party.” He could hear the drums starting in the distance. “Hana probably riled them up to start early…” He got up and offered her his hand. “Come on~ We have to go get all of our stuff and meet everyone.”

Once they got back to camp where they shed their clothing they got dressed and Jet was surprisingly adept at helping her with her dress. "I have younger sisters." He clarified how he knew how to do things. After all, he didn't want that miscommunication between them. He offered his arm to her and he led her through the camp once more. He introduced her to a few important people he knew. He wasn't expecting her to remember everyone, "This is just a formality. You'll learn everyone so don't stress too much about learning it tonight. It's supposed to be fun but… The booze hound is here." He could hear Hana's cheers as she got people to drink with her.

"Bout time you showed up. Your sister is showing you up," one of the warriors clapped Jet's shoulders.

Jet made a face, "That's all she does~ If you think this is bad now wait until Wesley finally puts pups in her." Everyone shivered at the thought.

"Have fun with that and your new mate," the warrior winked at Iona before going off to party with the others.

"Don't mind him. I think he likes any woman that moves~" Jet teased as he led her to the table where her family and his family were.

"I don't mind." She said quickly.

Iona did her best not to stare at the abs he was rocking or anything lower. Some of her tribe didn't use the necklaces and it was perceived as perfectly normal. He mentioned the plants and she gave him a little nod in response.

"I'm afraid I don't do anything with the information." She admitted, "Learning about it more than enough for me. Watching how animals and plants change, adapt, and grow is… beyond fascinating."

Her words were lined with a passion as she spoke. It wasn't limited to flowers but also involved the animals and creatures she'd seen so far. There was something about the changes they bring to the environment and to themselves. Each one had their own little story that made the rest of the world feel so full. He waved her over then pulled her down. She landed in a soft bed of plants. Iona reached for them and felt each one. They were soft but had their own textures and shapes.

"This is a good spot." She stated before turning to him and laying on her side, "Jet I…"

Iona paused for a moment, trying to gather her thoughts.

"I'd like to try for a romantic relationship with you." She admitted, "However, I don't expect anything from you. So please don't feel like you must do anything. I'd settle for a friendship if we don't find ourselves in love."

It was an awkward conversation as she didn't know how best to ask. Her eyes revealed her desire for his input, no matter what the truth may be. The bluntest and honest truth would be better than some answer meant to make her feel better.

If it was one thing Jet was better at than Hana it was the patience of the hunt. He directed her when to attack where she had the most force.

Jet enjoyed the closeness with Iona and soon he was full. He rolled on his back and shifted back as she did. He smirked a bit as his eyes looked her over. “Only if you are bothered with it. We’re not overly shy as you saw with Hana. For us, this is normal.” He used a soft leaf to clean his face. Clearly, he was used to this as he did it quite expertly.

“You like plants don’t you?” He looked her over once more before he closed his eyes feeling the sundown on him. “You have the same look in your eyes as my ma when she is studying plant life.” Depending on how comfortable she was with his state was what he did. He looked absolutely relaxed compared to the tension he had before.

“Come here,” he waved her over before reaching up and grabbing her to pull her down. She would find a very soft landing on a bed of soft plants. “These plants are very soft and make a good napping spot. Not that I’m going to nap just yet but… It’s relaxing after having to deal with Hana.”

She felt his much larger body run into her and he playfully nipped at her before running off. She ran after him, taking a chance to nudge his shoulder when she was by his side in a display of affection. Whenever she took her wolf form, she always found it easier to express familiarity. When he skidded to a stop, she pressed her paws into the dirt, trying to stop in time. She only bumped him slightly before coming to a complete stop. She watched as he took down the deer and held herself back.

Normally she would help but this wasn't her territory, even if she was a fiance she still wanted to be careful. To her surprise, he sat behind it and nudged it at her. Iona sent him a look of appreciation. Then she opened her jaw and tore at the deer's flesh. Blood covered her muzzle as she viciously scraped the meat off of the bones. Soon she had her fill and gave him the rest. When it came to meals, she never held back.

Once he had taken his fill, she walked further out into the field. She shifted back into her human form. Surprisingly, she had a short white gown barely covering her from her chest to just below her rear. The rest of her gown had fallen off long ago but this piece of clothing had been hidden underneath her fancy wedding gown. It was a very special piece of fabric, something that had helped most of her tribe. With a wave of her hand, she summoned a tiny cloud to rain on her face, clearing the blood off of her face. Once she was cleaned off, she looked over to Jet with a smile.

"When we go into our wolf forms, it becomes a necklace." She explained, "They gave it to me in case I shifted."

Her black ebony hair was down, free from the pins keeping it up. Her feet were bare and none of her jewelry had made it past the shifting. They were all in a pile somewhere near the camp. Iona bent over and plucked a little bloom she had spotted. Her dress held on for dear life. She then realized that he probably didn't have any clothes since he stripped earlier.

"Uh, do you need some pants? I can probably summon one." Iona offered, still holding the flower.

“Not all of them no. Hana is the only one who beats on me… The others have their own enemies. I promise,” he returned her smile as he spoke.

Jet noticed her eyes as he told her the gossip. She was absorbed into it, he made a mental note to introduce her to his aunt Lily. It looked like they would get along great, though everyone got along with Lily.

“We have fields have miles~ Just depends on what kind of fields you want.” Jet let out a short laugh, “I’m thankful for once I’m not a girl.” He had always been measured up to Hana and since Hana was a girl and couldn’t inherit his father’s place… He was the one who had to make up for it.

Once he got her to the fields he let out a noise as she pulled him close. She was so close to him that his face flushed. “If that’s what you want,” he whispered back to her and finally managed a smile. “Shifting without stripping while an art is cheating!” He was running after her and stripping as he did as if it was an art. Finally, a large red wolf stretched lazily at first before he dashed after her.

His body was almost twice the size of hers, probably due to his own heritage. Jet caught up to her almost instantly and he ran into her and like most wolves was playful as he nipped at her before running farther away. Wolves craved being close and for Jet it was the first time he was getting a chance to be that he could. He was going to take full advantage of this.

Jet skidded to a stop and his ears went forward as he crouched. He saw a large deer as he went through the grass. After all of this… He was hungry and he wondered if she was too. It took no time at all for him to take it down and drag it back to her. He sat behind it and nudged it at her. Ladies first after all.

She smiled at his smooth response then held in a snicker at Hana's gagging noises. A vine grew from the ground and gave the mischievous girl a whack upside the head. Then Hana dragged Wes off who didn't even look worried. He almost seemed excited. She turned her attention back to Jet as he began telling the story of his childhood friend who he couldn't marry since she wasn't a lycanthrope. Iona listened quietly and nodded in the appropriate times. It was a bit of a relief for her to hear of this past love. It meant that she wouldn't have to worry about some imaginary expectations of a perfect wife. When someone had a previous first love they knew what it felt like to love somebody real. To love their imperfections and their wonderful moments to the point of comfort. She'd rather have that than someone stuck in an idealistic view of a perfect partner.

"Are your siblings all as temperamental as your sister?" Iona asked with a small smile, "I'd like to know if I should schedule Jet beatings when they come to visit."

The tour was pleasant enough and she was able to get a good layout of the campsite. It was practical with its layout, keeping the warriors spread out in case of an emergency attack from any side. The ones who couldn't fight were nestled in the center, just what she had expected from a warrior tribe. As they continued on with their tour, the subject of Jet's mother and father came up. Jet immediately began gossiping with a mischievous glimmer about the details of their relationship. Iona soaked up every word like how she would with her gossiping cousins and aunts back home. Iona wasn't one to tell others the drama but she loved hearing all about it. Soon the gossip was over, much to her disappointment and he asked if she had any questions.

"Do you have any open fields? Or good places to run?" She asked, "I was carried here towards the end. Its a part of our tribe's tradition for the bride to be presented in the most dramatic way possible. But it means my legs can get cramped."

When he showed her to one of these places, a bright smile appeared on her face. A glitter of mischief danced in her green eyes as she grabbed Jet by the collar and pulled him close, inches away from hers.

"Lets see how fast you can run." She whispered to him, "Try to keep up."

Her hand dropped and she spun around then bolted into a run into the open space. Leaping into the air, her body morphed into her wolf form and she landed on her paws. The tan wolf raced across the ground, her heart beating fast. She could feel the wind comb through her fur as the sun shone brightly from above. She made a few turns and leapt over obstacles in her way. The anxiety and pressure of the day melted off of her like ice melting in the heat of summer. Her eyes remained on the open ground ahead of her as she continued running. If it was up to her, she would run forever.

"I'll do my best but I suppose it will be a surprise when I find out how much it will take to impress you." Jet said it smoothly and with a cheeky smile but his sister was making gagging noises. "Shut up Short Stack."

Hana made a face but a vine came up and smacked her upside her head. "OI!" Hana started to cross her arms and mutter to herself. "Stupid ma and her stupid eyes in the back of her fuckin–" The vine smacked her again. "OI, I AM ALLOWED TO BITCH!" Hana yelled it at seemingly nothing but it was clear Angela was watching.

Jet walked out with Iona and watched as Hana dragged poor Wes off for who knew what. Once she asked her question he choked at first as he had been caught off guard. "No secret lovers. I had a fairly overwhelming childhood and teenage years… Watching Hana, learning the courts of Sularia, the education my ma had us learn, and the training with Pa. I had a crush on a childhood friend but the law is the law. She wasn't lycanthrope so…" He shrugged it off. "She's happy that's good enough for me. I also used to help watch my siblings. My mother has a lot and they are almost every bit of a handful as Hana is but for different reasons." He smirked a bit. "You'll meet them all I suppose. They will get curious and want us to travel north to Sularia."

He looked around a bit before taking her on a tour. "You have our medical tents, our war tents, and our common area. The big tent over there is where they make all the food. The smoke you see off in that direction is Gareth, he makes all our weapons and such. The medical section is small but that's only because of the blessing Ma put on the tribe. Consider us like a contract between her and my pa. Though if you ask me." There was a mischievous glimmer in her eyes.

"I think Pa broke the law and covered it up by asking Ma for a blessing. There wasn't any way a tribe would refuse what she was offering. A child and they get protection. I heard they met in a tavern and so their story never really added up. They are really good friends now but Pa won't get married so…. I put two and two together that it has to do with her. He's content anyways but she's always reminding him to do stuff. They've always been that way since we were kids." He figured opening up was the best way to go about things with Iona. "Ma does what she wants though. She couldn't be confined to one lover but recently she got married to my ex step father, they had a fall out, and now I got a new one. She's wild kind of like nature itself if that makes sense."

Once he was done reminiscing he looked around a bit, "You'll find a fight pit up there. Hana goes there a lot to de-stress as she calls it. The common grounds where the living quarters are is divided up by color and tent size. We will have a reasonable sized tent, orange in color. Kinda like the sun in an eclipse."

"Anything that catches your interests or questions? This place is pretty bare compared to Sularia. When we go there I can show you everything. Sularia is overwhelming the first time… Both because of the city itself and her people. I think you might like the lavender fields. They are relaxing."

Hana quickly took up the marriage contract and scanned it as if she was Jet's lawyer. Only in this case, she was sending out reassurances at the expense of Jet's pride. It was a wonder if Jet had any pride left over after growing up with his sister. Iona wondered if she would ever end up meeting this mysterious aunt Toya, who apparently was the cause of Jet's unique sister. Her fiancé offered to show her around camp, claiming to be more responsible than his sister. Hana had issue with that statement and another argument between them broke out. Iona had a feeling if she didn't stop this now then she would have to sit through more arguments.

"Alright." She said bringing herself to her feet, "So far I've only had the chance to meet your powerful sister. Please, impress me."

Iona first looked over to her father and handed him some notes she made for him previously as a reference for political arrangements between the tribes. Giving him a pat on the back, she turned and saw her brother Kylan. She placed her hands on his shoulder and gave him a pretty little smile.

"My dear brother. I know this will be difficult," Iona said in a sweet voice, "But pretend you have a brain and keep yourself out of trouble. And if you die, try to do it where you wont inconvenience anyone."

Kylan opened his mouth to protest her words but she had already turned away from him. Now that her family had been dealt with, she could have that tour. Iona was relatively eager to see the camp but she was more interested in Jet. He wasn't the beast, so what kind of person was he? His interactions with his sister only revealed how he behaved with her. When they were out of the tent, she tilted her head back and felt the light wind on her face.

"So, do you have any secret lovers?" She asked, "Or were you truly single for this arrangement?"

It was important to find out about them now rather than later. Iona was prepared for any dramatic reveal of a bastard child or a secret engagement or anything that would come as a surprise for anyone else. Then again, reality was very different from those dramatic stories she heard from her aunt.

Jet was going to take the marriage contract to look it over when Hana stole it. It didn’t look like she behaved for very long when their mother was out of the picture. “Uh huh. Yeah. Yup,” Hana pushed it forward and Jet snatched it.

“Give me that.”

“Jet will be a fine husband for these rules. He’s too much of a pussy to be abusive physical or otherwise-”

“HANA.”

“He’s not got enough balls or brains to handle two women so you’ll be the only one-”

“HANA STOP.”

“AND,” she looked at her brother. “like he could prevent pregnancy if he wanted to. Ma, after all, loves grandchildren. He wouldn’t want to soil her name as the Mother… Would he?”

“You know Ma doesn’t care.”

Hana huffed a bit and laughed, “Yeah, she says that but you know how nosy she is.” Jet grumbled a bit.

“ANYWAYS, the contract is fair and I’m fine with it.” Jet had a blush lightly and looked away from Hana.

“I don’t know she is too pretty for you,” Hana wiggled a bit. “I think you need an orcish wife.”

“Hana,” Jet slapped her upside her head.

“OI, DO YOU LOOK LIKE MA?” Hana rubbed her head and pouted. “Fine! I YIELD!” She threw her hands up. “So when do we party?”

“…” Jet sighed a bit and nodded up to his father and the chief.

“Welcome party when? Need to leave Jet to getting to know his little lover bunny,” Hana was making a kissy face at Jet.

“Be respectful please… You weren’t raised as an animal.”

“Oh no, but I was trained alongside Auntie Toya and you know how wild she is…” Hana grinned.

“Yeah, a one-woman army that most men piss themselves being near… How could I forget.” Jet rolled his eyes. “I can show you around the camp if you want.” Jet looked towards Iona. “Unlike this one, I am responsible and trustworthy.”

“OI, I’m trustworthy. DO I NOT GO INTO BATTLE WITH YOU?!”

“About the only reliability you have~” Jet took a pot shot at his sister. “The rest of the time you are either fucking, drunk, or trying to pick fights.”

“I would be mad but this is fairly accurate,” Hana shrugged.

Her brother Kylan realized the danger when Hana turned her eyes to him. The fact that he was a future brother-in-law was the only thing that saved him. He quickly retreated to his chair and kept his mouth shut. Wesley appeared to be the only one safe from the woman's wrath. The chief finally introduced Hana and her mate, which would make gossip back at the Broken Ember camp much easier to spread. Iona smiled lightly at the thought of her friends telling the story to everybody she knew once everything had been settled. She looked over to Jet, partially relieved that permanent damage wasn't done. That would be her future husband's face after all. There was no need to damage it. Hana blurted out about how her parents fucked in front of everyone then punched the chief's son.

Iona was partially relieved that Hana was a girl and had a mate, else she may have been arranged to marry that temper. After drinking some water, Hana turned her attention to the bride to be and asked if she was a virgin. Iona's eyes were wide with surprise and she was half-tempted to answer Hana, if Jet hadn't shouted she may have made a joke about it. She did appreciate his words about respect, even if she already knew the plead wouldn't do much. Jet summoned his mother. A gorgeous woman came in with a puff of magic and realized what was going on when she saw Hana.

By the time Angela finished handling the situation, it felt like the contract was years behind them. The outbursts, explicit information, and everyone's reaction made it clear this was Hana's normal activities. At the very least it was entertaining for Iona who had dreaded the dull discussion between chiefs over marriage contracts. She could follow along and understand everything perfectly fine but it did get dull when her father did all the talking for her.

Her father was still unable to speak after all of the commotion. She knew that he'd have to have a little bit of time to regain his composure.

"It is wonderful to meet you miss Hana." Iona responded taking control of the conversation away from her father, "As for the marriage contract, we have devised a small list of requirements for everyone to sign. It will ensure both persons' safety during the marriage."

Her words on the subject were to the point and highly political as if she had been a chieftan in some other life. The contract itself held the standard requirements of a marriage, simply of two people being married together. But there were a few small additions.

-Neither party could verbally or physically abuse one another.
-If the either parties desires a second lover, they must first as the spouse's permission and consent for it.
-Contraception will not be allowed unless both parties have verbally consented to it.

These three requirements were usually honor bound and usually not spoken aloud. It was expected but usually not put into writing. Iona had agreed to an arranged marriage as long as these three rules were implemented for both parties in the marriage. She knew that a marriage was inevitable in her situation so she was determined that it would be safe for both herself and whomever she married. This was her true minimum requirements for a husband.

"Yes." Her father said, finally regaining his wits, "And we can discuss the alliance related to the marriage soon. We simply need to know if the contract is acceptable with the additional conditions."

“Huh?” Hana stopped mid punch as her bi-colored eyes moved to Kylan. “Want to run that by me again?”

She got up and started to crack her knuckles. “HANA, think of the tribe! Surely, you can forgive Kylan for his words,” the chief tried to calm her down.

“If a man can open his fucking mouth then a man can take a god damn beating,” Hana said it lowly. “But I guess since he is going to be my brother-in-law I’ll spare him today.”

Trygve let out a sigh of relief as he got up, “So you calmed down.”

“Fuck no,” Hana roared but Wesley was quick to put a light dress over his tiny girlfriend. “…” She looked up at Wesley. “You are lucky you are cute.”

“Allow me to introduce Jet’s twin sister Hana,” the chief waved his hand to Hana who put her hands on her hips proudly. “This is Hana’s mate Wesley.”

“Fuck Hana…” Jet seemed a bit stunned from the blows from Hana gave him her hand and pulled him up.

“You’ve taken worse. If you are gonna cry like a bitch I could always call Ma.”

“No, I’m fine,” Jet was now relaxing his muscles and already the bruises from Hana were healing. “Did you have to hit so fucking hard?”

“Yeah, a lesson.”

“Lesson?” Jet quirked an eyebrow.

“Why is it everyone knows about this but me?” She looked at Wesley. “YOU DIDN’T KNOW DID YOU?!”

“No, he didn’t. Figured you would break him if we told him,” Jet replied coolly.

“Ma should have swallowed you,” Hana pointed at Jet.

“Again. We are twins. If she swallowed me she would have swallowed you.”

“AGAIN, I am the sparkle of Pa’s eye.”

“Can we not discuss the private affair of your mother and I?”

“Why not you fucked in front of everyone,” Hana glared in her pa’s direction and Trygve shrunk back a bit.

“Okay, okay. Can we get back to the political merriment?” The chief’s son asked before Hana punched him in the face.

“Fuck you and your political merriment. The last time you said the words political merriment you dropped ‘Hana we’re getting married’ and I had to kick your ass from here to Mo’Mey Steppes.” Hana came over to the table and fell on an extra pillow. “We can sit and discuss my brother now.”

“Hana…” Jet was embarrassed.

“What? Too much of a pussy to do it in front of me?”

“Not that. Did you run all the way from Sularia to here?”

Her father looked over, “Hana that’s dangerous.”

“I ain’t gonna die from no pussy ass desert. I’m fine.” Fine, she said as she drank down a few glasses of water now that she was relaxed. “So, you a virgin?” She looked at Iona.

“HANA,” Jet yelled. “CAN YOU AT LEAST RESPECT HER IF YOU AREN’T GOING TO RESPECT ME?”

“I don’t respect anyone,” Hana cleaned her ear. “Maybe Wesley.”

“MOTHER,” Jet yelled.

Angela came in with a puff of magic. Her hair was in a bun, her lab coat was on, and she was reading a report. “How can I help my gorgeous son to– Hana?” The woman’s green eyes met Hana’s bicolored eyes. “I don’t want to be a part of this.”

“Make her leave.”

“Listen, I am a worker of miracles but that is one miracle I can’t do. What happened to your face?” Angela came over and applied some magic. “Can you stop hitting your brother in his face? I told you below the neck.”

“Whatever.”

“Hana, leave your brother’s marriage to your brother.”

“How do I know he has the balls to be a husband?”

“If you let him have balls he would actually use them,” Angela commented. “Anyways, this is a circus and I am a busy person.”

“You should have swallowed Je–” Angela smacked Hana upside the head with her notes giving a loud smack.

“WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT FOR,” Hana roared up.

“How you ever got such a nice boy like Wesley is beyond me. Shut up. Behave. Or I will make you shut up and behave.” Angela threat made Hana purse her lips and fold her arms like a spoiled child.

“Thank you Angela,” Trygve finally let out a held back sigh.

“Finally…” Jet collapsed back on his seat. “I’m so… sorry Iona,”

Hana went to open her mouth.

“AH,” Angela warned as she smacked Hana upside the head again. Hana pouted harder this time. “Okay, I’m watching but I have to leave I have a meeting with some doctors from Mamlak. Which means I’m very, very close.” The voice was enough to make Hana shrink down.

“Thanks, Ma,” Jet gave her a kiss as she leaned down and Angela disappeared. “Can we please get on with this?” Hana was mocking him silently from her seat. "Hana comes home once in a blue moon and when we have tribal wars." He made sure they knew that his wayward sister wasn't much trouble. Hana's face was actually turning red as she tried to withold her smart-ass comments.

Wesley looked at Jet pitifully as another hit slammed into Jet's face. But he then called Hana a bitch. He simply leaned against one of the chairs and watched as his beautiful girlfriend beat the shit out of Jet. He didn't mind being called a bitch whisperer but he did mind when Jet called her a bitch directly. Besides, Hana was in a super angry mode. Wesley knew that taking off his shirt wouldn't pull her out of a rage that quickly.

Meanwhile Iona's jaw dropped as she saw the half naked woman throw one of the guards and beat the shit out of her fiancé. She had no idea why this woman had ran into the tent and started beating the shit out of him. Was she his ex or a scorned lover? That was the only reason she could think of why a half naked woman would do this. If so, good on her. The rest of the tribe had backed into a safe corner away from the girl and Jet, clearly terrified. The chief's son lowly told them that this was the number one warrior in the Lunar Sun. Iona believed it too. From the corner of her eye she saw her father start to stand up to protest to this beating but Iona quickly shoved him down into his seat.

"If she's not afraid to attack him then she'll certainly have no fear attacking you." Iona whispered to him.

Her foolish brother Kylan stood up with a cocky smile on his face and strode over to Hana and Jet.

"Would you two stop with your lover's quarrel already?" He said with a confident voice, "Jet is going to marry my sister. Not you miss… Its sad but true."

Iona didn't know the situation any better than Kylan but she knew going up and saying that to an angry woman was a death sentence.

"Sorry father." She said with a slight smirk, "It seems I'll be an only child soon."

It was the first thing she didn't say in a half whisper. The pressing need to seem proper and self-controlled fell away the minute the powerful woman stepped into the room.

Author: Jet, Posted: Mon Jul 5, 2021 7:51 PM, Post Subject: The True Beast [P][R]

Every man from the Lunar Sun started to choke immediately when the beast was brought up. “Him? The beast?” The chief’s son spoke up as he pointed at Jet. “I’m sor–”

There was a commotion outside as Wesley ran in he was out of breath. “I tried to stop her but she’s mad. She ran all the way here when she found out. She’s on the outskirts of the tribe right no–” There was screaming as a blonde wolf came in and shifted to the short woman.

“JET,” the screech left her lips as she threw one of the guards. Trygve got up and tried to restrain her but effortlessly Hana threw him on top of the ground. “YOU SON OF A BITCH.”

“Hana! HANA WAIT,” Jet was trying to stumble to get up. His eyes went to his fiance. This was bad. He was going to look bad. “Hana let’s think rationa–”

“FUCK YOU,” Hana roared as the naked half lycanthrope tackled her brother down and started to land a barrage of punches to his face. Every time Jet tried to get the upper hand Hana was able to subdue him.

“HEY BITCH WHISPERER COME GET YOUR BITCH OFF OF ME!” Jet yelled as he stopped struggling and focused on defending his face. If there was one thing he learned from Hana was picking his fights.

“…That’s the beast.” The chief’s son said lowly from the safe side of the room. “The number one warrior in the Lunar Sun.”

They finally arrived at the tent and her father gave them the usual greetings before entering. With some help from her attending friends, she managed to step off the carried platform and enter the tent as well, taking a seat directly next to her father and chief. Her eyes immediately scanned the room for her future husband, expecting some sort of giant man with an already furious face.

But she found none. Instead the chief motioned to the redhead with blue eyes. Iona focused to hide her slightly confused look and tried to look as calm as possible. She wasn't expecting somebody so….attractive. Horrible scars, giant height, muscles, and maybe even a lost hand. Yet she couldn't allow herself to think of him positively just yet. He was still a wild beast and a tyrant. A rose looked beautiful until you prick your finger on its thorns.

"Thank you for such a grand welcome." Chief Magnar responded politely before gesturing to Iona, "The Broken Ember tribes offer Iona Ravin. An accomplished sorceress, hunter, and tactician. And my daughter. Next to her is her brother Kylan Ravin."

Iona bit down on her tongue to prevent herself from criticizing her father's dramatic presentation. Her green eyes glanced over to the man once more, trying to get a read on him. What was his disposition? He mumbled something too low for her to hear and seemed…. worried? That was the best she could get from his expression. At the very most he seemed somewhat irritated.

"So you're the beast then?" Kylan blurted out.

"Kylan watch your tongue." Iona harshly said to him in a low voice.

"What? We're all wondering about it." Her brother said gesturing to the rest of the tribe, "We all want to see this famous tyrant."

Iona wished she was allowed to shove one of the fruits down his throat to shut him up. The Chief didn't say anything, likely to indirectly confirm these rumors without looking foolish himself. Sometimes she wondered if she was the only one in her family with any tact.

Author: Jet, Posted: Mon Jul 5, 2021 7:21 PM, Post Subject: The True Beast [P][R]

Jet had always feared the day his time would come. His usefulness to the tribe was limitless and he strived to make sure he brought honor to the role he would hold. His hair housed a few more war braids than normal as his father made sure he was presentable. “Who knows what they have heard.”

Jet made a face at the man. He stood at the same height as the lead warrior. Six foot four. The only difference was how they were built. The way his father’s face was much older. Thanks to his mother’s blood he looked pretty no matter how many war braids were in his hair. He had sea-blue eyes like his father but his mother's fiery locks. “Who knows. I hope the chief knows what he is doing…”

Chief Backe and his son were nearby. They had recommended Jet since the tribe was looking for warriors. Their lead warrior as the partner for their offering. This was purely political and Jet was agonizing over it but his mother had given her blessing. Whatever the hell that meant.

The four men headed into the large red tent that would be their meeting place. Jet heard the commotion and he looked that way. “I hate this…” The words left his lips and his father slapped his shoulder hard.

“Just be glad Hana isn’t home.”

“Thank fuck for that,” Jet rolled his eyes and went inside the tent. There was a small feast laid out in front of them as they sat down on comfortable floor mats.

Once the Broken Ember leaders were inside they all stood and bowed before all but the chief sat. “We welcome you to our home. We hope that this union will be fruitful for both of us. From us: we offer the future lead warrior Jet.” He motioned to the redhead who nodded but his blue eyes were on the woman. “His father is next to him. He is Trygve. His mother is a saint and gave birth to Jet as good tidings. You will not find her in our tribe.”

Jet could feel anxiety welling up inside of him as he nervously kept watching the door.

“Steady your nerves boy,” Trygve looked at his son. “What’s the worst that could happen?”

“…You know better than to say things like that.” Jet mumbled.

The chief let Trygve calm his son down. "Jet is among the best of our warriors in his age group. He is exceptional and loyal. You will find him to be level-headed as well."

Author: Iona, Posted: Mon Jul 5, 2021 7:06 PM, Post Subject: The True Beast [P][R]

The Broken Ember Tribe had been traveling for the past days to the highlands from the Mo'Mey Steppes that they had settled in during the summer. The Mo'Mey Steppes had bountiful amounts of prey for her tribe and cooler weather than many other places. It was a tradition for them to stay there during the summer and go elsewhere during the other seasons. This time, a small group had diverted from the rest of the tribe for an arranged marriage. Her arraigned marriage. They traveled in their wolf forms for the majority of the way then shifted to their more human forms at the last half. Broken Ember was famous for its successful hunters as well as their plentiful numbers. They had to fight fiercely to feed everybody and were adapt at hunting in multiple environments. Even in the barren of deserts, they were determined to find food. It was this survival instinct that allowed them to survive.

However, they needed warriors on their side. Warriors who didn't rely just on numbers and allies who were reliable. That is the reason her father arranged a marriage with the Lunar Sun's tyrant. Two of her childhood friends helped pin up her curly hair. Two pins were jabbed into her hair to keep the white veil from falling out for the rest of the journey. Meanwhile a few tribesmen set up a circular bed-like platform that was to be carried by four tribesmen. After putting two more earrings in, she carefully sat down in the center of the platform, trying to keep her expression cool.

The marriage hadn't been her idea but she wasn't completely against it. However she wasn't one to just let things happen to her. Before the marriage was even officially decided on, she scoured her tribe and others for any information on this man. He was a tyrant who scared even the fiercest warriors of the tribe. A man who would destroy all in his path without mercy. A man who was reckless and wild. The beast of Lunar Sun. To prepare herself for such a person, she had gathered all the books and scrolls that described on how to deal with anger management and how to deal with the anger in others. She couldn't fix him or change him, she wasn't that foolish. Her hopes were to at least be able to tolerate her new husband and focus on getting important shit done. Iona wasn't the type to waste time.

Her father would have married her off anyway. She'd rather have somebody with a nice pack of abs and some muscle power than a fat old man with an empty brain. Even if he was a raging lunatic, she could learn how to handle that and reap the benefits of that fine muscular body he surely had. The cherry on top was the added bonus of being married to a famous man in a powerful tribe. It wasn't ideal nor was it perfect but it was what she was going to get. She carefully balanced herself as the circular platform was lifted onto the shoulders of four strong men. They walked until they found the endless tents and barrage of noise coming from the tribespeople. Her father, the chief, a fit man with black curly hair wearing loose red summer furs stood in front of the group as they entered the tribe camp.
