Saving the realm?

Keres scuffed at the very thought of lessening the chaos that the deranged goddess worked hard to create. Whether it was actually the will of the Reaper or if she was possessed made little difference for the twins as they indulged in what they did best- spreading the madness around. They left the ever boring Egjora and moved their hunt into the mainland. Gods, her and her brother left their handiwork all the way up north into the wilderness of the highlands, where they found prey that didn’t squirm or make their job easy. No, the men and women in this region were made of sturdier stuff and often they would chase them into the neighboring woods where they would then get picked off one by one. As much as they were warriors, it was clear that they weren’t as many thinkers in that regard. But it made everything so much fun, no?

This eve was no different- the pair had found a small village to which to sate their unsavory hunger for destruction. There were a few guards on patrol and it didn’t take too much for her to allure them to their trap. And whenever they weren’t busily captivated by her charms, they were too dimwitted in trying to pursue and apprehending her to notice said trap. Her brother waited in the shadows and watched until he had a clear shot before sending out his knives to pierce and taste the flesh of their legs. The cries of pain alerted the other kinsmen that were out and found themselves in a similar predicament.

“Sissy, look at the catch we got tonight!”, Samyaza said gleefully as he moved and begun his work, tying ropes around the ankles of their prey before stringing up the fools up the strong tree branches. “Make sure to hoist them up nicely, love”, Keres smirked before she brought out a crossbow and took aim. The man she pointed at was throwing obscenities at them before she sent a bolt between his eyes, a little more to the right than the center. “Blast it. The effects of the slumber plague me still”, she said with a huff. Damn her divineless father, and that bratty older brother of theirs- it was their fault that she and Samyaza had been away from all their fun for so long.

No longer.

No longer would they be bound by the command of anyone other than themselves. This world was theirs to play with, gods be damned.
Circling around the tree and inspecting their quarry, no better yet, their soon to be trophies, she listened well to their pointless threats and slurs, but these barbarians were like the cattle they raised and slaughtered for their own needs. Their “pleas” didn’t faze her though and when she came full circle, she aimed carefully this time and scored a direct hit between the eyes.

“Samyaza, it’s your turn.”

Handling him the crossbow, her brother was much more of a torturer and wasted no time shooting the third man in the left eye. The screams of pain that poured from his mouth as he squirmed like a fish caught on a line. The deranged man below hollered with laughter, slapping his knee in the process as he watched these great warriors be reduced to helpless insects. Unlike his sister, he could soak in the torment for hours before he made the coup de grace.
“Now, now, let’s silence him before he wakes the whole town”, she said, caressing the spot beneath his chin and he grumbled just a bit before doing as his older sister said and shot him in the head, silencing the woods once more.
