South of the Mo’mey Steppes and west of the Valley of Vada, the kingdom of Mamlak sits on rolling plains. Etched into the mountains like a sculpture, the city is the first thing to greet travellers on their way out of Mo’mey. It stands as a bastion of white stone on a long journey south, its foundation’s minerals of the type that can only be found in the mountains that surround its eastern face.

The city itself lies on an upward slope, cleft in two by a river that flows from its mountain waterfall. At the base of the waterfall is where the most privileged citizens live, and the level of wealth for the city’s citizens declines with the slope. Suspended bridges act as the method of transportation between the halves, as do the small canoes that regularly travel the river.

Mamlak’s greatest symbol, other than its formidable land army, is the golden lion.Golden lions decorate the city like an infestation, most concentrated in the palace district at the base of the waterfall. The King of Mamlak, Mojaku, is even called the Golden Lion, so these statues are in reverence to him.

As for why visitors stop in this city other than to travel on to Adeluna or Mo’mey, Mamlak is well known for its markets. While not as elegant as its Arriese sister’s bazaar, the alabaster city’s market is the best place on the western coast of Canelux to find exotic goods from the Laeto Rainforest and surrounding areas. Usually, a wise shopper can find a good deal, but visitors and citizen alike should be wary of the shopkeepers they find. While not as unreliable as Vilpamolan’s merchants, they have been known to try pedaling false or even cursed merchandise.
