Zamatye Beach Main Description

Unlike the shores of fine-grained sand seen on the other continents, Zamatye’s shores are composed of smoothed pieces of sea glass from all colors in the spectrum. These pieces vary in size and shape, from gravel to small pebbles. Southeast of the lake country and east from the Outlands, the view of the beach at sunset is a sight to behold. The sun’s last rays before dusk changes the rolling dunes into a melting pot of color as the light dances off the sea glass. When night falls, a miraculous phenomenon takes place. Spires, walls, and towers of a great city rises up from the beach, built entirely out of the colorful sea glass. Humanoid beings composed of vibrant-colored minerals emerge while the city bustles with life. However, the city’s sudden appearance is short-lived. Before daybreak the sea-glass structures and its inhabitants return to beach fragments once again.

The inhabitants of the sea-glass city are called the Mahakoe, however they are known by the other inhabitants of Onnen by other names. Their society is a mystery to most, their civilization rising and falling with the day-night cycle. Although their world changes every day, the Mahakoe simply continue where they left off the night before. They do not worship distinct deities, instead revering the primal forces of nature. The Mahakoe believe they were born from the earth itself, given form by the primal power that resides within the land and life by the breath of the two moons. Their religious beliefs bear strong similarities to the Jauhari tribe in the Xhosa Archipelago.

Selikalikoe sa Khalase Description

The great mystery of Zamatye, this nocturnal phenomenon of a city is known by the local nomadic tribes as the ‘Circle of Glass’ from the shape of the glistening ring of sea-glass spires seen from above. This translucent wonder of nature houses the scholarly Mahakoe, crystalline beings who reside within the glass spires. Those who desire wisdom may find the answers they seek if they speak with them, though that is never certain. Some call them sages, others call them philosophers. The Mahakoe are great ponderers of thought and are in no hurry even when their citadel falls back into the sands with the break of dawn. They have no government, no ruling class, no legislative body presiding over their number. Their memories and actions continue right where they left off come dusk, as if there had never been a gap at all.

Unlike most, the Mahakoe have fully embraced the transience of life and welcome–rather than fear it. Everything has a beginning and an end, and an end is just another new beginning. Nothing is eternal, there is no need to hold on to a fleeting world which may become something else entirely. Pride, selfish desire, anger, greed, and other vices are meaningless to them. It is no wonder that many come to Selikalikoe sa Khalase as part of a spiritual journey or quest for self-discovery. Those who wish to strengthen their mind and soul will receive the Mahakoe’s whole-hearted support to achieve mental and spiritual clarity. The Circle of Glass is not a holy place, so all can enter and all are welcomed. As they have abandoned worldly values, they too have abandoned discrimination. They say that those who visit the Circle of Glass are never the same. The miraculous city leaves its mark on every one who leaves its gates, sometimes in invisible ways. But if there is one thing travelers to the sea-glass sands all say, it would be that it was a decision they would never regret.

"When all else fails, move on to plan B. And when that plan fails, move on to the next plan."
