Wilhelm had joined the ranks of the God of Wrath and the Heavens, offering his… unique services. The God had recognised the man’s potential, odd as Wilhelm might be. Once the Vampiric Priest had prayed to the old Gods, but they had not served him in return, it was time to follow a new God and bring power to a Master who would reciprocate. And Raith was a meal ticket worth the Priest’s time, effort and unusual strengths.
When rumours of the missing people had reached the Temple, Wilhelm had suggested that he and Sorrento investigate for themselves on Raith’s behalf - the lost had the most to gain from benevolent Deities, even one as full of rage as their Lord Raith was.
What the Vampires discovered was a city full of people losing their will, their desire, and suddenly Wilhelm came into his own. The only desires he had were self preservation, and Sorrento - he could easily have both, especially since the girl could not shed him from her life, she owed him and she would owe him for all eternity… which was also what he had given her.
The foul man turned his sunken, black eyes toward the beautiful dancer beside him, holding a black umbrella above their heads to shield them from the sun. It was not because, as many would assume, they were Vampires but for other reasons entirely. For Wilhelm the sun and heat dried out the scars at the sides of his mouth, the gaping wounds would never truly heal, but the sun dried them out more and caused further pain that Wilhelm had no intention of tolerating. Sorrento liked her pale skin, she preferred not to let the sun touch her if she could help it, the less she tanned the happier she was, and incidentally so was Wilhelm.
”Alright SoSo, it is time we called upon these lost souls and brought them into the loving arms of our Lord Raith,” he said softly, nodding to the girl as he took the umbrella from her and stood to one side, watching with a sickening smile on his face as she readied herself to begin her dance to lure in a crowd.
”Ladies and gentleman, dearest townsfolk, I am here to beseech you in the name of our Lord Raith. Our Lord is better known as the Blind God, the Fury of the Heavens - but Lord Raith is a merciful God to those who are worthy, to those who are loyal and he is generous to the Pilgrims who serve in his name.”
