"It wouldn't hurt to look him up. Maybe being in the employ of the God of Knowledge they'd be able to help us out," Gideon said with a shrug. "It depends on Rynn really, but I'll make the suggestion."

Gideon got a really amused look on his face when Drake explained that he was looking for a celestial woman with black wings and hair. Even more interesting was that there was actually a place where people like him lived. That would have to be a stop on their journey. He would like to reconnect with the people who in this world could potentially be his kin. He hid a smile behind a hand as he tried to look thoughtful.

"Okay, for starters, you aren't crazy," he stated, his smile growing wide. "Funny enough, you dreaming about her means that you've seen her before," he said. "Whether in this life or another, you've met her. She exists. Your mind is incapable of creating faces while dreaming. All faces are memories in dreams," he said. "So who knows, maybe you've seen her in passing and just didn't realize it? It's funny though, the way you describe her, she sounds similar in appearance to Rynn's grandmother. She was a celestial too. Black hair and wings from what I was told. I never got to meet her though. What was her name…? Dawn or something similar to that. Rynn always just referred to her as the Angel's Heart, because apparently at some point she and Rynn's grandfather became stars," he said with a chuckle. "Not that they could be the same people or anything. But no, I don't think you are crazy for searching for this dream girl. It will be amazing if you find her though."

Gideon snorted at the thought of it being easy to find Jace. "Heh, yeah, easy. The guy has a talent for making himself unfindable when he wants. And it seems that right now he does NOT want to be found by me or Rynn. Normally she could track him across a continent. But here… well, our abilities aren't what they were once…."

As Gideon perked up to hearing Magnus' name, Drake thought he had met someone else who knew the sea spirit, however after his explanation, it seemed as though it was a different person.  "Well, the Magnus I know helps at Tar Eisalae.  And while I can't say for sure he's the same Magnus you know, it wouldn't hurt to go talk to him.  Tar Eisalae holds a lot of knowledge…at the worst, you might be able to learn something."  And had Drake learned some things from there.

"Who I'm looking for is…very complicated.  She may not even exist," Drake said.  "I sound crazy every time I do this, but please…I promise I'm not insane.  I'm looking for a raven haired woman, with black angel wings, though I don't know her name.  So far, I've not had any luck, so I've been heading North to Zets'ki, in hopes of finding her there.  Supposedly that's where the Celestials are."  He let out a sigh.  "Knowing my luck though, she doesn't even exist."

Unless asked, he wasn't going to go into the full explanation of why he was looking for the woman.  After all, he had already gotten weird stares for having 'dreams' about a woman who may or may not exist.  Though, to be fair…I may be crazy.  I just may not know it yet.

"Anyway, you would probably have a better chance of finding your friend's brother," Drake said.  "At least you have a name."

When Drake mentioned the name Magnus, Gideon immediately perked up. "Magnus?" he asked. He didn't want to get his hopes up. Magnus, while not a common name, was still one that might be common in Revaliir. He knew it had been an odd one for the old spirit he had known. What were the chances that this was the same Magnus? For all he knew, the Magnus he knew had died with their old world. It was probably too much to hope for.

"I knew someone named Magnus once. He was the Headmaster at this Academy that Rynn and I trained at with all her family," he mused. "If there was anyone that I would want to see more than our team, it would be Master Magnus," he admitted. "He always had the answers…" he said with a sad sigh. "But that was a long time ago…." His expression became a distant one as he thought back to the short, but happier times. He shook it off a moment later and looked back up at Drake.

"So, who is it you are looking for?" he asked curiously. "I'm hoping it isn't as tedious as looking for your sorta-girlfiend's missing brother."

Author: Firesong, Posted: Sun Apr 29, 2018 1:43 PM, Post Subject: As it were... [P/R]

It was amusing to see Gideon's reaction to his question.  In all honesty, Drake held back the urge to tease him, and instead focused on the other point he made.  "You're looking for someone too?"  That's certainly a coincidence.  "Well, I probably don't know who you're looking for, but I do know someone with a rather large library and a great deal of knowledge.  Between Lord Drae and Magnus, maybe they might know where to search for the person you're looking for."

The crowd was starting to dissipate, and Drake noticed that there were a few others who were pushing against the crowd.  Probably more who wanted to either see this rampaging bunny, or those who wished to help strike it down.  What am I getting in to? he questioned himself.  "Well, any luck?  I'm not sure who we're looking for here, so help me out if you can."  Drake, himself, was looking to see if by mere chance, a raven haired woman might be seen running towards the fray.

Author: Starchaser, Posted: Sun Apr 29, 2018 12:43 AM, Post Subject: As it were... [P/R]

Gideon waited expectantly as Drake seemed to want to ask him something, but decided against it and stated he could probably get the crowd to part. Sure enough, as he turned and the crowd parted, Gideon couldn't help but notice the expression was one he had seen on Rynn far too many times to count. It was almost scary, but in a comical way. Not that Drake looked funny, but the resemblance was intriguing. He snapped out of his thoughts as he trailed after Drake and was asked if Rynn was "his girl."

This made the half-celestial laugh nervously. "Heheh… yeah that's a complicated question," he replied as he scratched the back of his head. "She doesn't run off like this normally. I think she was a little preoccupied with the fact that her… what are these things? Familiars? Well, that hers decided to up and run off for no reason," he tried to explain. "As for us… I don't know. I know I WANT us to be together, I mean, I'd move the heavens to make her happy. But it seems like every time we have a moment, something happens to ruin it. It's been that way since we met really," he said with a heavy sigh. "Frankly, she is too mission oriented to really leave time for romance… I'm hoping that will change once we find her brother. He's the whole reason we came here… At least, she's said that once we find him, we can take time for us…"

Drake shook his head.  "It wasn't my intention.  Though, to be fair, I've not been paying it much mind.  I've had a great deal of other things on my mind.  I didn't even realize that it was happening."  He shrugged, watching the crowds shuffle onward.  "You…you haven't met a woman with…"  He looked to Gideon, and sighed.  "Never you mind.  It's a long shot anyway.  Let's get going then.  I can probably part the crowd, if you'd like to follow."

With that, he turned into the oncoming swarm, and starting walking forward.  As he had said, the crowd seemed to part for him.  Drake himself wasn't sure exactly why, whether it be his stance and walk, and whether or not he commanded authority and pride, or fear and arrogance.  Either way, it didn't bother him how others viewed him in this instance.  What he needed was to get both he and Gideon through the crowd.

"So, this woman you're looking for," Drake called back, glancing to see if his feathery friend was still following.  Of course, the silver wolf was marching in stride behind him.  Drake rolled his eyes, "Is she your girl?  I can't imagine settling with someone who just runs off all the time.  It would be a pain, to be honest."

"Nah, not frowned upon. I already tried it. Couldn't see her at all," Gideon replied as he leaned up against the wall of the shop behind him. "There are too many people flocking here to try and circumvent that rabbit they say is coming this way," he explained. "I'll meet up with her back at the inn eventually, I'm sure though…"

When Drake mentioned that maybe instead of heading away from the danger the lynx had been heading towards it, he realized it made a lot more sense.
"Of course it would head to the north. We NEVER get to run away from trouble," he said sarcastically. He ran a hand through his hair. "At least a giant spectral rabbit isn't THAT bad…"

"What about you then? You here to help against the giant fluffy rodent?"

Drake couldn't help but let out a chuckle, "Hey, I understand.  Things can get really crazy, really quick.  There was one moment I was falling from the sky from a magical mishap, and the next, I was fighting a nigh indestructible lady with paralyzing blood.  Things happen, you know?" he said matter-of-factly.  "And knowing what I know of most strong willed women, she probably does…"

"Drake," he replied, taking Gideon's hand.  "So…you have some nice wings there."  His own fluttered a tad in response, but he kept his cloak tightened around them.  "I have a set of my own, though they…don't entirely work like they should.  I'm not quite used to them yet, but maybe if you took to the sky, you might be able to spot her?  Or is that frowned upon in cities like this?"  It was not something he had thought to ask, or even considered.  It wasn't as if he looked up on a regular basis to see what was flying above him, though when he though about it, it might have been a better idea to do such a thing from this point forward, lest he get caught unawares by something.

"If not, I guess we can head that way.  It seems as though most people are headed away from that general area.  If she has a lynx headed for it, perhaps it's headed towards the danger, and not away from it.  Can't hurt, right?"

"Damn," Gideon muttered when the stranger mentioned that he had not seen Rynn. "I guess she went a different direction," he said with a sigh. He looked hopeful when the guy offered to help, suggesting that his magical manifestation could possibly track her. The look on the wolf's face suggested otherwise and Gideon chuckled.

"Even if he could, I don't have anything of hers on me. She either carries it with her or left it back at the inn," he explained with shrug. He rubbed his face. "Go figure… we get lost in a coastal town with a rampaging magical rabbit on the loose coming this way, and I get separated from my partner after she goes tearing off after her spectral lynx," the half-celestial sighed. His wings fluttered in irritation. "What do you want to bet she blames me?" he asked rhetorically. He looked at this stranger and offered him a hand. "Gideon."

Drake found himself starting to enjoy the company of the silver wolf.  He had grown accustomed to being alone, but for some reason the wolf was welcome company.  "I guess you'll need a name if you're sticking around.  How about…"  He thought for a moment, and suddenly a name came to him.  "Kiros.  Kiros the Silver Wolf.  That sounds like it fits."  The wolf didn't seem to have a reaction, whether it was okay with the name or not.

"Well, I guess we can-"  He was interrupted as a blonde haired man with a bird in tow broke through the crowd, walking towards him.  He asked, seemingly exasperated at his lost companion, if Drake had seen her.  As he described her, his heart skipped a beat when he heard black and wings, but realized when he said dark hair and draconic wings.  "No, I haven't, I'm sorry.  But I'm willing to help if you would like."

Drake crossed his arms.  Draconic wings.  Like mine.  Maybe meeting her could help me figure out how to use them to fly.  Maybe she's like me and can use draconic powers.  "All right.  Well, let's see what we can do.  Do you have anything of hers?  Maybe Kiros here can track her."

The wolf looked up to Drake with what could only be described as disdain.  Drake shook his head and sighed.  "No?  Okay…."

"Wait! Rynn!" Gideon yelled and tried to push through the crowd to follow after her. He got bogged down really bad with the sudden influx of people that had swarmed in to do their shopping. He tried to follow her but lost her down one of the side streets. With a growl he took to the sky to try to get a bead on her but she was long gone. He swore to himself and landed again and headed off in a direction that he figured that Rynn might have gone.

As he came out of a side street, he spotted a young man with a spectral wolf like his kestrel and walked over to him.

"Hey, excuse me?" he said as he came up to the individual who didn't look like he could have been much older than him. "You haven't seen a lady run past here, chasing after a spectral lynx like your wolf there, have you? She's about ye tall, long black hair and draconic wings? Really pretty too!" he said describing Rynn and what she looked like, hoping that this guy might have seen which direction she had gone.

I'm still lost.

Drake waded through the crowd, unable to really get a feel of where he was in the grand scheme of things.  The magic in the air was far more than he had ever felt, and is was messing with all of his other senses.  What was worse, was the silver-white wolf that seemed to be following him around.  It had appeared roughly around the time he had lost him map, and had been following him at a fixed interval ever since.  If Drake sped up, the beast sped up; if he slowed down, it slowed down with him.

"Would you stop following me!" Drake yelled, spinning around suddenly, throwing his hands up in the air.  The wolf stared at him, and then sat down, it's silver eyes unwavering.  "What do you want from me!?" he asked it.  No movement, just the unwavering gaze.  Drake let out an exasperated sigh, and turned around.  "Fine.  Whatever."  He continued down the crowded path.

"Least I can do it get some food," he muttered to himself, noting the silver wolf was following him once more.  He shook his head, and let out a second sigh.

Hmm?  Drake sniffed the air, catching the scent of spices.  "Oh?"  Across the street was a small stall, selling dried meats.  He looked to his coin pouch, which was painfully bare, and started to pout.  I guess there isn't really a meal in store for me, he thought as he turned away.  He didn't make it more than a few steps when suddenly he felt something at his heel.  He turned, looking down to see the silver wolf, with a slice of dried meat in its mouth.

"Is…is that for me?" he asked.  The wolf nuzzled his hand, pushing the dried meat into it.  Drake didn't need convincing, and took the food, scarfing it down.  "You're not so bad, are you?" he said out loud.  The wolf made no sound, and instead sat down, once more staring at Drake with it's unblinking eyes.  "A bit creepy…but not bad," Drake replied, and pet the wolf.

The wolf accepted the pats, and as Drake finished, shook himself off, and then proceeded to sit back down.

"Well then," Drake said.  "At least that's one problem down…"

"Well, I guess I can give you some credit," Rynn said with a smile.  "Should we work tonight?" she asked.  She knew a few good tales from Canelux, as well as which songs from their own world were hits.  It had taken some trial and error, but after the first night, and a lot of tears, they had found a good mix to play at each inn they stayed at.  "I had an idea about changing a few things around with the Bard's Tale.  I don't think the…"

The blue lynx suddenly darted in front of Rynn, causing her to trip.  "W-wah!?" she yelped as she fell forward, falling to the ground.  She managed to brace herself, but growled ferociously at the spectral animal.  "You damned lynx!  Get back here!" she exclaimed at it ran off into the crowded city.  Without even waiting for Gideon, she darted after it, weaving in and out of the crowd, chasing the ethereal blue glow.

When I get my hands on you, I'll-  She paused, slowing down to a walk.  "Wait…"  She looked around.  "Gideon…?"  Where…am I?  "Oh Gods no….I'm lost again…"  She let out yet another sigh.  "Oh….what am I going to do?"

Stupid lynx….

"How he managed to be Head of the Library and Master of the Academy at the same time will be a mystery to me," Gideon chuckled. "But I do miss his advice…" He chuckled at Rynn's suggestion at postponing searching for Jace in order to help her sync her magic to the realm. He might didn't like the idea of postponing the search, but they were already taking a detour. And Rynn getting her magic capabilities back to full was going to be very good for them.

"You might be right," he said with a sigh. "It would be worth the wait to meet with this… so called God of Magic," he said with a sigh. "If it means either finding you a star, or finding a way to tether your magic to this realm at the very least," he said.

When she asked if he had remembered to get two beds at the local inn, he gave her a look that suggested she didn't give him enough credit. "After sleeping on that floor in Adeluna? Please, give me a little more credit than this," he insisted. "Of course I got two beds," he said flatly.

Rynn crossed her arms, nodding in agreement about Magnus.  "I do miss the old spirit.  He always had something new and interesting to say when he was head of our library."  She let out a sigh.  Her lynx, jokingly, let out a pretend sigh, and laid down next to her.  "Oh hush you," she said, glaring at it.  "The God of Knowledge and Magic.  I know its detracting from the search for Jace, but I think we should detour their.  Maybe he can help me find a star to channel."  It was a sound idea.

"You didn't happen to catch where his temple is located, did you?" she asked, looking to Gideon.  Hopefully it's not too far out of the way.  But Jace doesn't seem to be going anywhere, so we've got a little time.  Still, she felt impatient at the thought.  As much as her heart ached to find her brother, she knew it would be unwise to continue the search without even a fraction of her current strength.

"Well, anyway," she said, "First thing's first…we'll get back to the inn, and make a plan from there."  She looked back at Gideon, "You did remember to get separate beds, right?  I'd hate for you to be sleeping on the floor again."

"Thanks," Gideon said thanking the food merchant for the strips of dried meat he cut for them in exchange for the coins he had offered. He turned back the way they had come with Rynn and chewed on the meat. The spices were different than they were used to, but it was still pretty tasty. "I think your right. Certainly would be a shake up to what we usually cook," he agreed.

Gideon sighed. "Not really," he said. "But I think I can confidently say that he's not in Parvpora," he said, sounding certain. "I could feel his aura in Canelux, but it was faint. Here it is even harder to detect," he explained. "It really seems like there is a common thread though. Everyone we ask insists that we should speak to the Goddess of Life, at least in Adeluna they did. And here, the common consensus has been to talk to the God of Knowledge and Magic," he sighed. "You know, I don't think I've ever wished to see Magnus so bad. He always had answers…"

"That would be, because you are one sometimes, Gideon," Rynn replied as she handed him a piece of the dried meat.  She took a bite out of her slice, and started the chew.  The flavor palette was so very different from the one she was accustomed to, but it was so very delicious.  "Mmm, Gideon.  We should try to mimic this recipe.  I wouldn't mind having this every now and again when we travel."

The group headed back down the street, and back towards the docks.  "So, do we have any leads of Jace to follow, or should we just start asking around for someone who looks like me, but not as pretty?" she half joked.  "Or…do lynxes or kestrels have any decent tracking abilities?"  The lynx stared at Rynn with an incredulous look.  "Oh, fine.  I know…cat's aren't really the best long range trackers.  Fine, you just sit there and look pretty for me, then.  Well, Gideon?

Gideon moved his hand back to the pouch on his hip and pulled a couple of coins out of it and handed it to Rynn. "How much will that get us? You aren't the only one with a stomach at the moment," he commented as his own stomach growled. His kestrel chirruped from where it perched on his shoulder.

"The docks? Oh, simple, really. Turn around and take that street, and it will take yeh right back to the ocean. From there, you just go to where the ships are," the man said pointing.

Gideon turned and looked straight down the road that they had literally just came from. "You are joking, right?"
"No, sir, wouldn't lie to a customer like that," the elf promised.

Gideon sighed. "Wow, I feel like an idiot…" he muttered.

Rynn rolled her eyes, and started to walk.  The lynx yawned, and stretched itself out before trotting to Rynn's side, matching her pace.  It didn't take long for the small group to find a food stall.  They were selling various dried meats, to which Rynn;'s stomach rumbled.  She glanced to Gideon, her eyes practically pleading.

"Please tell me we have the funds to spare to buy a little something," she asked as she held out her hand.  It had been decided that Gideon would hold on to the money; Rynn had a terrible habit of spending it all on various trivial things, whether it be a brand new sword, or a pretty piece of jewelry to match her eyes.  So as it stood, it was up to Gideon whether or not she would get a treat.

As if to add to his plight, the lynx rubbed up against his legs, purring loudly.  The lynx was definitely a manifestation of Rynn's will, mannerisms in all.

"Oh, right!" she said aloud as she turned back to the shopkeep.  "Could you maybe point us back to the docks?  I know it should be simple, but as of now, this whole…magical event thing going on has us a bit turned around, and we're not from here.  It would be greatly appreciated an-"  She glanced down to see the lynx sniffing the dried jerky, and her stomach growled again.

"I know, lynxy," she said, petting it.  "We're hungry."  It was strange, how quickly Rynn had adapted to the situation.  But to be fair, after being in a war against all odds, having a cat made from one's own mana was a trivial in comparison.  And hey, the kestrel is cute too.  Just like….  She blushed, and returned her focus to the shopkeep.

Author: Starchaser, Posted: Fri Apr 13, 2018 11:41 PM, Post Subject: As it were... [P/R]

"Now that's just mean," Gideon said, looking at Rynn as she spoke to the Lynx. "They just don't appreciate us, do they?" he asked the kestrel. The bird cocked its head to the side before it flew off its head and went and landed on Gideon's shoulder and nipped at his ear.

"No clue. This is isn't a common occurrence from what I've heard," he replied. "And I know it doesn't, but I haven't heard you offer a solution," he said flatly as he folded his arms across his chest. "They are made of magic, they don't need sustenance," Gideon added. "If they cause a scene, blame the giant spectral rabbit," he said thumbing in the general direction of north where the giant rabbit had been said to  have been making its way south towards them. "Have you ever seen a cat? They are more inclined to watch the world burn than actual cause problems… unless that involved trying to murder an individual by tripping them on the stairs," he pointed out. "You are over thinking it. She's over thinking this, isn't she?"  He was barely able to get in these sentences, since she kept ratting off questions.

The Kestral flapped its wings and the lynx yowled slightly, almost offended at the thought of causing trouble.
"Great, let's go ask for directions," Gideon said. "Never let it be said that I can't be reasonable or logical. Asking for directions is a simple task."

As the kestrel landed on the lynx, the lynx made a low growl, but seemed to tolerate the bird perched on it.  Rynn had taken a step back to let the two spectral animals interact.  When the lynx showed it's irritation, she stifled a laugh.  "Oh, I know.  He can be annoying, but you like that about him, don't you?  She glanced back at her feathered companion, and winked with a sly smile.

"So how long do they last?  And that still doesn't solve the problem of being lost," Rynn stated, matter of fact like.  "In fact, this does nothing but compound the issue.  I know they're spectral and all, but do we feed them?  What if they cause a scene?  Cat's are notorious for causing scene, right?  What happens if the bird makes a mess?  Or eats someone else's manifestation?  Is that like eating a soul?  Can we even control them?"  Rynn was firing off questions, not letting Gideon have the opportunity to respond.  Oddly, she wasn't even panicking.  If anything, she was just trying to find their way in the most obtuse way possible.

"Gideon…maybe we should try talking to someone?  I know they keep giving us weird stares, but maybe some of the traders would be a little more willing to lend aid to a foreigner."  Rynn crossed her arms.  "And these two…we need to keep a keen eye on them, lest they make more trouble for us."

Author: Starchaser, Posted: Fri Apr 13, 2018 11:09 PM, Post Subject: As it were... [P/R]

Gideon caught Rynn as she jumped and clung to him. Funny enough, the spectral animal jumped just as bad when she shouted about. It was rather comedic, considering that cats were hilarious when startled. Of course it recovered a lot faster than its…. well, Gideon had to guess that Rynn was technically its host, since it had come from her. He realized he was still holding her, and he actually winked at the cat in thanks.

"That would be a Lynx, Rynn," Gideon stated firmly as it started licking its paw. He felt her relax, and he started the mental countdown. 3…2…1… Sure enough, she yelped and jumped away from him. Dammit… He raised his hands, showing he had no ulterior motives to keep her in his arms.

He watched in interest as the Lynx and Rynn had one of those staring matches that people try to have with cats that sometimes ends with the cat flipping out and attacking a persons face. He was impressed by Rynn's stamina, but she did break first. Whatever rapport it had created, the Lynx purred as she pet it, and Gideon cocked his head to the side.
"It mana… straight up… but it is yours," he said slowly. "You know, people in Canelux kept talking about how some people who had really strong magical capabilities were manifesting animals made completely from their own magic. I think that is what has happened. Your magic has literally manifested into a physical, albeit spectral, form," he said analyzing the large cat.

As Rynn questioned whether or not he should have one of these animals, his own magic began to manifest in a pale golden smoke behind him, and in the same burst of heat, a small falcon manifested and swooped past the pair of them to land on the Lynx's head.

"That's a kestrel…" Gideon said, blinking. He began laughing. "I think that about sums up our relationship… Cat and Bird… go figure."

The intensity of magic in the area had flared to the point where even Gideon couldn't find his way.  Things were definitely looking down for the duo.  It was as if some powerful, magical event was happening around them and they were merely caught in the middle of it.  Rynn sighed, and shook her head.  It was about this point where Gideon mentioned her new 'friend', and she felt a tingling sensation as her body grew hot, releasing something behind her.

It brushed up against her legs, and she jumped in surprise, practically leaping into Gideon's arms.  "W-w-w-what the hell is that!?" she exclaimed, pointing at the pale blue creautre that had peeled itself from her.  The creature, a lynx, had jumped back and nearly fell over in surprise, same as Rynn, though it righted itself fairly quickly, and started to lick at its paw as if nothing had happened.

Rynn narrowed her gaze at the lynx.  "It was just startled."  Almost as much as I was.  The tension left her body, and she looked to Gideon.  Her face immediately reddened, realizing her close proximity to him, and with a yelp of surprise, shoved him away.  "D-don't get so close!"

The lynx stared at her with trained eyes, and Rynn stared back, unwavering.  This went on for a lot longer than it should have, but finally Rynn broke first, and walked up to it, her hand stroking it's blue fur.  "It's….spectral.  But it feels real.  What do you think caused it?" she asked.  "And if I have one…does that mean that you…?"  She glanced back at Gideon, and pointed.

"We aren't lost. If I could see the night sky I could tell you exactly where we— wait no, wrong planetary system," Gideon said, looking a bit frustrated. He looked around and sighed. "At this point I am not even sure what direction we came from," he said. "Freaking faerie magic is messing with my senses," he muttered. Parvpora's magic was off the scale. It reminded him of how Orion always complained of mana saturation or lack thereof. It had never been to the point where he could feel more than a simple hum in the back of his skull. Here in Sidhiel, however, it was quite distracting, if not disorienting. But, that being said, it was potent, which meant that it was going to be easier to draw on and used.

"I can't put my finger on what the difference is between this place and the place we called home… there is more of it, it feels like, but I think that the magic from home was… wilder, harder to control, that's why you and Sera needed to focus it through a star," he mused. "But I get what you mean. It was your hard line into magic," he agreed.

She seemed bothered for a moment, or rather burdened. He thought about asking her what was on her mind, but in an instant she was snapping back to being chipper and excited. "Yeah, right," he exhaled with a touch of a chuckle. "Dart was a life saver giving us that starter gig," he chuckled. "I did like that guy. He was very grounded," he quipped. "Well, if we are going to find one anywhere, I'll bet it will be here. I've heard Parvpora just attracts all sorts of magical odditites."

As if to confirm his statement, Gideon noticed a pale blue glow coming off of Rynn, almost like smoke. From this smoke a large cat formed with tufted ears, bearded face, and legs that looked almost too long for its powerful body and a snub tail. Gideon raised an eyebrow and pointed. "Who's your friend?" he asked, an eyebrow raised.

Drake let out a long sigh as he scrutinized the map.  With every step he took, he made progress towards finding his way back to Magnus and Lord Drae.  At least, he hoped so.  If not, at least he could try to make his way to the Zets'ki Mountains in search of the black winged celestial that haunted his dreams.  But for now, it was just another stop in his journey.

"It would seem," Drake muttered to himself, "That staying here wouldn't be too bad.  Take a ship back to Abed, and make my way from there," he continued on, musing about his path.  He let out another sigh as his stomach growled.  Not now.  A third sigh.  It was becoming a reoccurring trend of Drake's to be completely flat out broke and in desperate need of money.  Between his unlucky streaks at being warped across the world to petty thievery, he just couldn't make enough silver to support himself or his journey.

At least I'm still got my charm, he joked to himself.  A fourth sigh.  At least I have a map.  And a way forward.  I can always find work.  He took a deep breath, and started back down the streets.  For the most part, he intended to avoid the middle city, as the shops there might tempt Drake into spending any hard earned coin on something he probably didn't need.  Instead, his focus remained on the docks, where he might find a hard labor job that he could easily do.

I don't need much.  Just enough to get passage out of here and pay for food.  He started to calculate the funds in his mind.  As his mind wandered, an errant gust of wind from the sea caught him off guard, catching his map like a sail and sending it flying through the air.

"W-wha!?" Drake yelled in surprise, trying desperately to catch the map before it flew high into the sky, carried off by the wayward wind.  He pouted, and tucked his own draconic wings tighter into his cloak.  I could go after it….if this damned wings would actually work like they're supposed to.  He let out a final sigh.

Just my luck…

"Admit it, Gideon.  We're lost."

While it hadn't been the worst idea to pop over to Parvpora in search of Rynn's brother, Jace, it had been a mistake to lose the map to the city of Maeron that they were currently staying at.  Due to their success as temporary bards, Rynn and Gideon had little worry about their monetary situation, which was at least a bonus.  Rynn let out a sigh, "Gideon.  Let's just go back the way we came.  Or better yet, just fly up and point us in the direction of the inn already."

When they had first arrived, Rynn was excited.  The land was rife with magic, and Rynn had started to feel much better about her ability to draw on the magical reserves.  Without her star, she felt weak and helpless, but Sidhiel seemed to be teeming with magic.  She finally felt at least strong enough to be of some use.  Except, now that they were lost, Rynn realized that even drawing upon the magic of the land wasn't enough to fuel her mana reserves.

"I've really gotten accustomed to using the star," she said, sighing to Gideon.  "I was far to dependent on it, wasn't I?"  Just like I depend on you, she thought to herself guiltily.  Sorry, Gideon.  I really am.  She shook her head.  Now wasn't the time.  "Anyway, at least we don't have to worry about silver for awhile, right?" she said excitedly, her tone changing immediately.  "And maybe we'll find a substitute star for me to use as well!"

Things were at least looking up.  Right?
