Mirannda blushed a bit at Myouga’s reaction to Elata.
”Ya… I kinda, recently, learned how to understand beasts… While inside the temple of that long forgotten god in the desert.” Thinking back to the way all those beetles seemed to crawl around in her mind with their multitude of voices almost instantaneously made her shudder. Yet, the smile she gave Myouga was genuine, if not a bit on the “happy” side..
”You know, you seemed a bit too chipper to be normal.” Then came a laugh and a soft refusal of the offer of knowledge on where to find the cornucopia.
With the cat out of the bag, she wondered how safe her origins were. The hyper Myouga was not well known enough to be trusted with the knowledge, and could very well be spilled out at the slightest whim. Frey was unknown entirely.
”Relax. Perhaps he would be weakened as you were. You have the advantage of friends, acquaintances, even Celeste and her family. Not to mention time to regain your strength.” After giving the avian a frown, Frey began talking about a gift.
She watched as he took the arm and just popped it back in place. It was quite amazing to see he instantly had control of it.
”That’s an… interesting feature.” Yet two more joined them, and Mirannda began to feel quite out of place. The phoenix never did too well in large groups.
”Nope, can’t think of anything. Anyway, we might as well head back to town, clean up and prepare…” Any chances of her saying anything about her true nature were reduced down to zilch with the random addition.
’You’re lucky Myouga, to have so many in your family. I was born like Elata, but my parents bound me like this. That’s why we look different. She’s only one of two kinsmen I have found.’ Mirannda monologued in her mind to the small woman, staring at her the entire time with a strong yearning look upon her face.
With that, the phoenix turned and started heading back the way the turkeys had trampled through.

"Makes sense," he nodded. Her assessment seemed sound enough. It reminded him of the ice elemental he'd befriended - that had been so long ago, it seemed to Frey, it may as well have been in another lifetime altogether. It had deigned serve as a replacement limb for him on other occasions where his skeletal arm had gone missing… occasions that, blessedly, had not happened often at all these past few years. He could only hope this wasn't a new trend a-looming.
"No harm done, truly. As you say, magic in general has been… 'out of whack' awhile now. One can but hope it settles some now that this whole thing is done and over with." Hm. A mercenary with an affinity for flames, huh? That felt reminiscent of a person and a place so far away… but the fiery merc he had in mind was a lot more grizzled and peevish, if memory served. Turning his attention back on Myouga, he couldn't help a chuckle as she hastily withdrew - he felt bad in part for her pain, but it had been her own doing and she seemed no worse off when all was said and done.
Another joined their group soon enough and between the phoenix and the sprite, Frey wasn't sure which he found more interesting. Especially given the phoenix was apparently Mirannda's cousin which… ugh. Looks could never be trusted these days, could they? Well. It wasn't really his business to be prying into a stranger's affairs, he supposed, no matter how nosy he could at times be. He'd let this one go. He had no family of his own, in any case - or none he particularly wished to speak of, at any rate.
Thoughts adrift, Myouga's sales pitch was enough to pique his curiosity - if a moment. Brows lifting, he grinned sheepishly and shrugged. "I think I'll have to pass. Animals and I don't get along very well." In that, for whatever godsforsaken reason, they always seemed to care for him a lot better than he cared for them. And it had a tendency of being utterly aggravating as f-
"Oh." The dragon spectral from earlier had returned, bumping into his leg with no small insistence and then crawling up his clothes onto its perch on his shoulder. "You've a gift for me. How nice of you." He gave it a pat and retrieved from its maw his skeletal arm which, with a shrug and a casual wave of it - as though to say
hey, told you it'd probably make its way back sooner than later - he soon reattached it with a subtle pop. Magic was a wondrous thing. Flexing his arm a bit to test it out, he shrugged again and looked up, wondering what he might have missed - and it seemed what he'd missed was perhaps more than he'd bargained for.
Yet another had joined them. He'd just caught the tail end of the introduction. "Well met, Leonidas, Acciona. I can't speak for these ladies, but I'm not in need of anything particular, no. The battle's done and over with. Just relax for now and enjoy the upcoming festivities, why don'tcha?"

"
I'm telling you this is the right place,Acciona! A boy with dark hair and black clothes walked in with a light blue glowing ball. The two seemed to argue over something before noticing everyone.
After a minute of silence the boy introduces himself as Leonidas and the ball as Acciona. "
Sooo…you guys need help with anything?"

The apple-red haired mercenary's warning was too late–the cheeky arcanist had already plunged her finger tip at the little fireball. Yanking back her hand out of instinct, hand flailing. "OWOWOWOWOWOW!!" Not that waving it around was helping much, but she then pulled out a healing potion and began to chug the contents. "So it really was real fire! Huh, who woulda thought?" When she saw the fire wasn't burning Mirannda she thought it was an illusion. She had no idea that the woman had an innate fire resistance. Or if she did, she likely forgot and lost track of that bit of information in the murky depths of her memory. There was too much in there at once and sometimes finding it was worse than looking for a piece of hay in a needle stack.
With her finger not screaming in pain, she stared wide-eyed at the phoenix that talked, and the lady introducing the bird as her cousin. Now an ordinary observant individual would deduce that the mercenary must be of a similar race to her firebird cousin, but Myouga was no ordinary individual. As a professor on magic theory and alchemical fusion, she knew better than to jump to conclusions and let conventional bias cloud her thinking. In other words, she thought nothing of it. Cousins were cousins, and sometimes your family had lots of different people in them. Multicultural families were rare but they existed. And a first-cousin relationship didn't guarantee anything. There were other little technicalities like time of birth, marriage of two individuals, the whole workings of when this first cousin relationship became official…
"Hello! I've never seen a talking phoenix before! Mira you're so lucky! All my cousins look the same as me…but taller! And with bigger horns! Did I tell you I have horns? Look, see!" She flipped up her bangs to reveal the little pointed nubs sticking out of her forehead that she was so proud of. The small oni loved seeing people's reactions when she told them she wasn't human. Just like the faces of tavern owners and bartenders when she told them she could legally drink alcohol. Maybe she should try sneaking in with a fake beard and see if that would fool them. She could totally pass as an abnormally tall dwarf or halfling.
Waving to Frey, they were all acquainted. Remembering that he mentioned the giant turkeys–which had slipped her mind once the burning of her fingertip happened–she rummaged about until she produced the very same horn she had used to summon them. It bore an uncanny resemblance to a cornucopia, which was very fitting. "Ta-daaa! Behold, the great Gobble Horn! With this, you too can call forth your very own cavalry of giant birds of unusual size to fight your enemies! It comes in two settings, five and fifty. So you can either call five big ones or fifty standard birds. If you want one, I can tell you where you can buy it." She gave them a wink, as if revealing to them a great secret.

Cool would not have been the word she would use to describe what had just transpired. Yet, she could not come up with any alternative adjectives to use instead. Mirannda nodded to Frey.
"Usually, they live in places of high magical concentration. Since it's a fire elemental, I would assume it lived in the volcano." Still, the fact that he was missing a limb, and his casualness of it seemed a tad odd. Thinking back, she did see flashes of white from him, and realized she hadn't paid enough attention to piece together that it was skeletal in nature.
With a decision to not inquire about it, she gave the guy a relatively nice smile.
"Pleasure, and I truly am sorry about that fireball. The rabbit, magic out of whack, I can barely contain my fire." Returning her gaze to the mystifying, rare sprite, she continued.
"Though, I wonder how much of it was inspired by this little guy. Frey, this is Myouga, a previous employer of mine. Oh, I'm a mercenary." It would explain why Myouga had hired her, she hoped.
"Myouga, I wouldn't –!"The small woman was reaching out to touch the sprite. When her finger made contact, she was naturally singed a bit. Mirannda didn't know if the sprite was spooked, or if it was surprised, but it began to move around her at an impressive speed.
"Jaliza… We're not going to keep that thing around are we?" Elata flew down, forcing Mirannda to lift an arm to perch on it with telepathic suggestions. While Elata talked to Mirannda's mind, Mirannda spoke to the bird.
"Didn't we talk about the use of that name? And if the sprite wants to stay with us, then that is up to the sprite, not me. Since you're down here, meet everyone else. Frey, Myouga, this is Elata Etney, my cousin." The mercenary winced, realizing she spilled her race quite easily. The more people who knew, didn't that mean the more danger she was in if Sin were to find his way here?

Good. She seemed all right - nothing to panic over, then. The flames didn't
feel malignant, at any rate, but looks could be deceiving… Ah well. He would leave well enough alone. Nevertheless, his curiosity kept him rooted to the spot. When she jumped Frey, too, inevitably started, and inwardly he scolded himself for his jumpiness of late. Hopefully nothing a bit of actual sleep couldn't fix… provided he were actually blessed with much of it anytime soon.
Time would tell.
As the fire drew back, his brows furrowed in concentration. This could prove a valuable learning experience, whatever the outcome, and he did not wish to miss a single moment. Even when Myouga had arrived, he did not divert his attention. Finally, the flames coalesced and formed a more corporeal image, revealing… "A flame sprite?" he echoed, frowning, before checking himself and relaxing his expression best as he could. He shifted a few steps over, now standing abreast of Mirannda for a better look at the thing's face. "Is it some kind of elemental, then?"
Then, from the corner of his eyes spying the unnatural drop of his company's smile, he tensed subconsciously but merely shrugged, casually looking at the spot where his arm ought to be and lifting his brows in feigned mild surprise. No big deal. Sort of. "Oh, so it would seem… It's fine, though. Not really sure where it's gotten off to, mind you, the explosion might have been a bit much for it… But I'm fairly sure it will be back. Always manages to, somehow." It was one of the greater mysteries he had yet to come across.
He cleared his throat lightly before continuing. "Nice to meet you, Mirannda - even despite the circumstances…" He put on a small smile, hoping to imply that he meant her no ill will for her earlier accidental transgression. "And you as well, O Summoner of the largest fowl I've ever had the, um… pleasure of seeing." Glancing back toward Myouga - and by default the fire sprite given her newfound proximity to it - he could but quirk a brow in wonder. Certainly, he was most curious to see what happened next. "… The name's Frey."

Finally the last of the three was here, and pulling herself over a piece of the wreckage, she landed back on her feet reuniting with the ground. "Hello? Mira? MIRAAAA? Where'd you go?" Now fully remembering that faraway escapade in Bakulaw's primeval jungle, the arcanist also recalled the nickname she had come up with for the red-headed mercenary. Pouring the powdered crumbles of shortbread into her mouth, she chewed while shading her eyes. Then, she caught a glimpse of that familiar candy-apple red. Good thing she was so easy to spot, or else Myouga would've never found her. And the other guy who'd been there when she called the turkeys was beside her too. Running over to see what was going on, she stopped with a screeching halt and widened her eyes.
Pointing at the mercenary currently engulfed in flame, she said loudly: "Whoaaa! That's so cool~" Now before you jump to conclusions, allow us to explain the train of mental processes that led to such a carefree reaction. As soon as Myouga saw Mirannda, she noted a few things. First, the mercenary was on fire–but there was no smell of smoke. Second, there was no smell of burning flesh or charring of the mercenary's clothing. And last but not least, she looked completely fine. Just peachy, in the oni's personal choice of words. She then looked at the others to see if they shared in her amazement, and discovered something else. "Hey, where's your arm? The sleeve's empty!" She poked at the loose cloth that was supposed to be holding another limb.
Not having met the man in person earlier, she wasn't aware that he had a prosthetic limb. She just assumed that he was supposed to have two arms, since he had a sleeve over it. If he only had one arm, he wouldn't need to have a sleeve–right? That was what she thought and that was what she believed. The surprises kept on coming, and the fire started growing arms and legs! Well, technically it made a head and body first, but it was still a cute fireball. And while everyone seemed to be paying more attention to the man's lack of an arm, Myouga began creeping towards the little fire sprite with a sparkle of mischief in her eyes. Slowly, she reached out with a finger fully intending to poke the newly-born flame creature.

Mirannda glanced up when the victim of her accidental fireball spoke up, inquiring to her condition.
”Um.. I think so.” It was so odd, as she stared at her hands, that she would be engulfed in fire. Warm, and comforting, something reminiscent of an embrace.
”No… I think I got this,” she answered back.
”Jaliza? What are you thinking?” Even though it was a mental voice pushing into her mind, the woman still jumped, turning around and scolding the fiery bird perching in the tree behind them.
”Fenedhis, Elata! Don’t scare me like that!” Taking a moment to calm down, she lifted one hand and stared at it, concentrating. There was a whisper surrounding her, something she could barely hear, easily missed. The fire wasn’t magic gone wrong, but was something that was latching onto her affinity for flames, her connection to the Eternal Flame. It just manifested atop her skin.
Slowly, the fire began to recede, condensing itself into her hand until what appeared to be a little fireball with little hands and feet. It blinked at her with a pair of bright eyes and smiled.
”A flame sprite! I’ve read about them once before. I thought they were a myth though?” Mirannda looked over at the stranger with a smile, which instantly fell at the state of his appearance.
”Um… I’m Mirannda, and… You’re missing an arm. Are you alright?”

Well, that solved that - it did not take long for the battle to end. He'd been in the middle of casting a spell - one imbued with as much 'positive' energy as his at times testy self could muster. But with magic still haywire just moments before the giant rabbit blew up, the spell went awry, instead leaving him dazed. And so as the thing exploded, he flew, unceremoniously skipping along the ground a few times - not unlike a rag doll, he might have noted with some small dark humour, were he watching and not the victim in question.
Ears ringing, he moved to sit himself up with his left hand, only to realize that for some reason, this was no longer an option. Blinking back to awareness, he opted instead for using his right arm and, upon propping himself aright, found a most startling of discoveries: his skeletal limb was missing.
Well then.Grunting in annoyance, he dragged himself to his feet. There, he swayed a moment or two before steadying, and once he had ascertained he could properly stand, he paused to ascertain the extent of the damage caused. Not too bad, he surmised, when compared to some world shattering events he'd been unlucky enough to witness, but… not great, either. The rabbit had certainly put up a good fight. Starting to pick his path through the debris, he eventually - by coincidence more than by design - came to stand near Mirannda and caught a glimpse of Angela and some unfamiliar gent scooping up the tiny familiar.
Here, he couldn't help a slight roll of his eyes. Angela.
Of course it had to be
deities. Half the time anything big happened, the gods seemed to be near. Now he was down a crappy book and, more importantly, an arm. And, to make matters more interesting… the woman next to him was on fire. Lovely. Come to think of it too, they were one summoner short, weren't they. He might've had a few questions for the turkey lady. And the dragon spectral who'd been clinging to him throughout the entire ordeal was missing, too. Hmph.
…
Wait a minute. "H-hey! Are you all right?" After all, she looked confused and yet not in pain… And magic worked in mysterious ways. Still, judging from her reaction, it wasn't quite normal for her. Glancing at a few urns of water nearby then back at her, he frowned, but kept his relative calm. No need to aggravate the situation. "Do… you need something to put it out with?"

Myouga noticed that there was a sudden influx of magical energy surging through the air right before everything blew up in a massive and flashy explosion. It was a blast bombastic enough for the eccentric arcanist to approve of, though the sheer force of the power released back into the world sent them all flying. Due to her distinct lack of mass, she flew off rather easily from the back of the giant turkey she had named Godfrey. Flailing, she began casting spells with wild abandon in an attempt to brace for impact. And fortunately for her, with the strange distortion of magic now over–her magic worked just in time. "Oof!" The protection spell helped soften the blow, and it was a good thing she had it go off when it did. Sliding across the ground, she placed her hands on the sides of her head to stop the world from spinning.
The release of magic also caused the summoned birds to vanish, sending them back from whence they came. Which was a very good thing, as having five ginormous birds as big as buildings rampaging through the streets would be just as bad as one big, magically-made rabbit. "That…was…AMAZING! Ow ow ow…" Groaning, she rolled to her side as she regained her bearings. There was a distinct smell of raspberry jelly for some reason. Checking her clothes, she then moved onto rummage through her bag. Pulling out a package of crushed shortbread jam-topped cookies, she looked on at the damage in dismay. They were now lumps of fine, crumbly powder stuck together with reddish goo. "Aww, they're all broken. How am I going to eat them now? It sure would be nice if I could turn back time on these before they were crushed. Oh well."
Back on her feet, she looked to see if any of the others who were with her on the turkeys were nearby. The whole area was a mess, but on the upside having most of the things leveled made it easier to see where the people were. "Mr. Gobbs? Godfrey? Huh, where'd they all go?" Dusting herself off, she started searching through the aftermath for any familiar faces.

Fun? This was by far the furthest from fun she has been since being in this land. In fact, the phoenix could honestly say that this was a new first for her, to be on the back of beyond enormous birds one typically ate for meals! Deciding to no ever eat turkey again, Mirannda wondered how she always got mixed up with this strange little child like woman. Though, she was beginning to doubt that Myouga was even old enough to be called such.
Word got through to everyone that positive energy was the way to win against the chaotic rabbit. She cursed, as she did not have any positive spells to use. Many others did, however, and there was a massive explosion. Mirannda and everything else was flung backwards from the energy. Ears ringing, the phoenix staggered to her feet, coughing and waving the air attempting to clear the dust. As the debris and such cleared, there was a man standing there that the phoenix could only assume was a deity. At his feet was a small adorable, rainbow colored bunny, begging to see whoever this "her" was.
Mirannda was completely shocked, that it was merely a corrupted being, and it only desired to see a baby merely moments old. After all was said and done, the god and goddess retreating to be with their child, the phoenix blinked.
"Well, that was… unexpected." It was at this point in time that she was completely covered with flames! From the tips of her boots to the end of her hair.
"What the?!" the phoenix exclaimed, confused as to why she was covered in fire. In all honesty, it wasn't burning her, so it must not have been her own flames that was licking at her skin.

And then there were three.
But as the giant turkeys strutted toward the rabbit, heads a-bobbing, Frey was already reconsidering. This had surely been a mistake. There was no way this could possibly be a good idea - or certainly, t'was no
sane idea. Gripping onto the bird's feathers for dear life, he was only barely aware of the tiny dragon spectral's claws digging just as fiercely into his shoulder and back. Ah. So the thing had decided to follow him even this far… He wasn't sure whether to be irritated or relieved, truth be told.
In any case, he had decidedly more pressing matters to attend to, and so he tuned into the conversation at hand. It seemed the fire slinger and the summoner already knew each other, for better or worse. And then- and then, for whatever reason Frey could not possibly fathom, the one who'd summoned this stampede in the first place took again to her horn. White knuckled fists gripped tighter. Madness. Had to be. Not that he'd never pulled any questionable stunts in his youth (
as though he were even an old man… pfff), but this…
What were they even to do to such a massive creature, anyway? Sizing up the rabbit from up close seemed even more daunting than he might've imagined.
Steeling himself, he relinquished the hold of one of his hands and, runic circle materializing about his arm, he launched a test stream of cutting winds - but the only thing he'd truly succeeded in, he suspected, was giving the thing a small haircut. The birds, at this rate (…much to his irritation), were wont to do more damage.
"What can we do?!" he shouted, hoping he'd not be completely lost to the winds. There were many fighting around them, but how much could they
really do…?

"Na na na naaa na~ Ride, ride on my birdy brethren!" The oni cheered, grinning from ear to ear. The deafening sound of stomps and gobbling made it hard for her to hear anything else–even her own voice. Naturally she was unaware of the others joining her in the wild turkey rampage. Making noises imitating the turkeys' own loud chortle-clucking, she pointed straight ahead with the poise and determination of an army general, wooden wand in hand. Then, she scrunched her eyebrows as she thought she heard something. "Hm? Did somebody call me?" Cleaning out her ear with her pinky finger, she looked around. Spotting a familiar-looking face with bright candy-apple colored hair, her eyes lit up as she put two and two together. "Oh hiiii~ I remember you–we ran into that big ol' orange angry lizard with teeth back in Bakulaw! Are you having fun yet?!" She shouted back, cupping her mouth with her hands.
Clearly she didn't pick up on any of the concern and worry in the other woman's face. Instead she waved gleefully at the two new people on top of the massive turkeys. And as if calling five of these wasn't bad enough, she took the horn she had used to summon them and kept trumpeting through it. Thankfully it didn't call even more gargantuan galliformes, but the situation was hectic enough already. "Excuse me, coming through! We gotta rabbit to high-kick! Alright Mr. Gobbs, let's teach that bad bunny a lesson! Forward–
CHAAAARRRRGEEEE!!!!" A rallying war cry of angry gobbling came forth in unison as the birds rushed forth with fury. There were screams coming from the battlefield as they entered the scene, and several people were quick to clear out of their path. The summoned turkeys slammed into the big, bad bunny and began pecking away at it. Flapping their wings and kicking with their legs, it was more like a larger-than-life swarm of barnyard poultry congregating around the feed trough at mealtime. It'd be rather silly if they weren't massively huge.
"GET 'IM GODFREY! YEAH, YOU GO GUYS!!! SHOW THAT BUNNY WHAT YOU'RE MADE OF!!" The arcanist made shadow-boxing gestures as the birds began establishing a new world pecking order. Out in the wild, turkeys were known to adhere to a strict hierarchy. Anything that dared challenge it was an enemy, and were attacked without mercy until they knew their place. The battle of the giant beasts had begun!

As expected, the one she nearly charred glared down upon her with agitation. It was all she could do to keep the apologetic look upon her own face. Whatever he was going to say was lost by a loud blare of a horn nearly deafened the phoenix. While it was not as loud as Natsumi's sword, it was still enough to cause her to wince and cover her ears. Mirannda's attention fell to her feet as the ground began to rumble and shake.
Tiny pebbles began to bounce and jump as the vibrations got worse. Her ears picked up a crashing noise from behind.
"Move your ass now, Jaliza!" Elata's words pierced her mind, almost overriding what the man before had said. Before she had a chance to even chastize her cousin for using that name, she peeked behind her, cursed and chased after the stranger. These have got to be the biggest avians she had ever seen! Trying to stay out of their way, her jaw nearly dropped to see the once irritated man vault onto a giant turkey with a goofy grin.
'I can't believe I'm really doing this..' With a mighty leap of her own, the phoenix took flight and landed unceremoniously onto one of the giant birds. With fists gripping feathers, she struggled to keep on. Surely, the summoner was after the bunny? Stick with her, and find her target, observe and report. But there was something oddly familiar about that small figure ahead. Without the ability for a closer look, the phoenix thought back to only one instance when she had met a crazy mage…
"Myouga! What craziness have you brought into the middle of town?!?" What if innocents got hurt? Oh lords, was she really that far regressed? Drawing her blade, she was sure that it would become very handy with that ball of oddity around. Only the gods could deign to figure this one out.

The ground continued to shake as the rabbit hopped here and there, goaded by its myriad hunters. Blissfully ignorant to the situation, the runeshaper dug deeper into his book. Finally, it was getting somewhere of interest, even if he did not wholly agree with it. If the author were alive, he might have had a choice word or two for them. As it were… Well, come to think of it, there were ways of getting around that. If he was lucky, the elf who had lent him the book would know where the guy was buried.
Not that he'd ever get the chance to ask him, at this rate.
He didn't have to duck beneath the stray fireball, but it was still damn close for comfort. Eyes wide as plates, he ducked nonetheless out of pure instinct, and recoiled against the debris and dust that fell about him in scattered pieces. Odd. The thing hadn't felt quite so strong on its way by. Maybe it was the whole 'magic out of whack' thing that had been plaguing the world of late. Narrowing his eyes, he put the book aside, and resolutely hopped off the balcony onto the ground. Disapproval weighed his gaze as he looked over the woman who'd launched the - supposedly - accidental missile. Soon enough, however, it faded, replaced with a mix of resignation and indifference.
"Apology accepted, I suppose. You don't look like-" but before he could utter another word, the loud BWAAAAA! of a horn sounded and he fell short, blinking in stupefaction. He turned to look at the source of the noise. Someone was on the rooftops. Huh. With a shake of his head, he looked back to Mirannda - and then beyond her. Again, his eyes widened, this time in disbelief. "Miss, we better move!" He gave a tug on her arm before hurrying away himself, in no mood to be trampled. Turkeys. Lots of em. Abnormally LARGE turkeys.
As if that weren't odd enough on its own, he found himself treated to a front row view of their summoner up and saddling herself atop one of them. He grinned despite himself, and called out to Mirannda: "Don't know 'bout you, but I think I'm feeling foolish enough to follow her lead! Hyah!" And with that, he took a running leap and vaulted atop a big bird of of his own.
Gods help them all.

Somewhere nearby, a small white-garbed figure climbed up to the rooftops with some difficulty. Standing on the eaves, she put her hands on her hips and looked out over the horizon. A light breeze passed through the area, gently rustling the hem of her dress. Finally, after following the trail of confusion and rumors–she had found it once again. "I've got you now, Mr. Bunny!" The small oni shouted, pointing her finger dramatically in its direction. "You might've gotten away from me back in Perditi, hopped continents, and even run all the way to an island…but your days of running end here, right now! For the great and magnificent Myouga, arcanist extraordinaire–is not one to be underestimated!" No matter how far it tried to run, or how it tried to hide, the arcanist would not stop until she had her prize. As a professor of the Irian mages' academy, there was almost no place in all of Revaliir where she had not set foot at least once. It was time she got her samples from this miraculous magical anomaly! She had seen elementals, golems, and magical constructs, but having magic manifest as a semi-living being was something she had never heard of. And of course, she wanted a piece of the action…literally.
She might not be able to use her magic against it or cast her beloved spell of explosion, but she wasn't known as a professor who explored the corners of the world for nothing! Taking out a strange horn shaped like a cornucopia, Myouga raised it high above her head while speaking in a loud voice. "Oh spirits of harvest and plenty, heed my call! Come forth and bring devastation upon my enemy! I summon youuu!" Putting the horn to her lips, she puffed and blew as hard as she could into it, and the air came out the other end with a loud BWAAAAAAAAA! Taking a break to inhale, there was silence. Then…ground began to shake as sounds of a chortling gobble filled the air! A flock of abnormally large, gigantic turkeys rushed through the streets in a stampede–trampling anything unlucky to be in their way underfoot! A cheeky grin spread across the little arcanist's face as her summons had succeeded. "Yes!
YESSSSS!!! Come my, turkey compatriots–we ride…to
VICTORY!!!" Jumping off the tiles of the rooftop, she landed on the back of one of the ginormous galliformes and went charging in full-throttle.

Normally, she would not even bother with the rumors of this spectral bunny running across the continents. While she was lounging in Adeluna, a noblewoman approached her, with a very enthusiastic desire to hear all about the rabbit from a first hand experience. What did this have to do with Mirannda? Well, the woman didn't want to do it herself, too dangerous. She needed someone who could handle herself. The offered pay was decent, and the phoenix didn't have anything else better to do. Besides, she needed to build up her reputation from the ground up again.
Thus, she found herself getting sent to a new destination, with an observatory mission. Her mood was beginning to gloomy by the time she made her way to Sidhiel. Mirannda was caught in a loop of self loathing, and actually feeling decent about this new land. There was no Sin, for starters. But there was Logan, someone she wasn't sure was more dangerous or merely a nuisance. Then there was also her tie to Celeste, another vampiric creature. Offered to her as an apology of a transgression against "holy" matrimony.
Walking through the city, marveling at the marbled walls, Elata screeched overhead.
"Didn't think you'd let me go alone." "Of course not." Yet, as she continued, she felt odd. Her control of magic have been tenuous at best, getting steadily stronger by the day. However, something was wrong. It felt erratic, fluxing against her. It wasn't until her hand caught on fire that she realized how potentially dangerous it was. With a shake of her hand, Mirannda attempted to put her hand out. Instead, the fire jumped from her hand and flew up, hitting the wall just above someone's head… Someone who just so happened to be reading a book.
"Oops… Sorry!" she called out.

He sat on the ledge of a balcony, tome snuggled comfortably in his lap.
Theoretical Magicks: Faraway Lands: kind of a dull read, not really what he had been promised nor what he had been looking for, but it served well enough to pass the time. The building he sat on overlooked Maeron's port in all its bustle and glory. Couldn't ask for a better view. Humming peacefully to himself, he flipped the page, revealing a promising passage on the application of astral magic to elemental usage on the dreamweavers' plane.
And then the ground shook. And this was no ordinary tremor! Almost knocked from his perch, he had to fumble to keep his book from tumbling below. Catching it less delicately than he'd have liked, he readjusted himself onto a better, sturdier spot. Muttering in irritation, he glanced up, wondering just what might have caused it and wondering whether he ought to be worrying about a tsunami or an eruption or gods knew what else.
The giant ghostly rabbit fit best into that last category. Frowning, Frey turned his gaze onto the small spectral dragon slumbering next to him. It had only appeared as of quite recently. "Wouldn't happen to be related to that thing, would you?" he inquired dryly, rolling his eyes. With a derisive snort, he turned back to his book.
Meh.
