For night dwellers and others seen as outcasts, life can be difficult as they are often shunned by the less understanding inhabitants. Those that were afflicted with the strains of vampirism and lycanthropy often find themselves tossed out of their homes and chased away by the masses. Such prejudice has occurred within the realm for many generations, especially within Parvpora . The methods and technology used by mages and hunters of the land had advanced to the point where they can hunt such beings with ease. Eventually the hunted came together and joined forces, in order to secure their own survival and traveled far toward the east to find a place they could call home. A crescent shaped island proved to be such a place; there they made a settlement known as Kurayo.

When the city was still young, many issues soon came to the surface for them; the main concern being the chaos that naturally ruled these inhabitants also threatened to tear each other apart. They knew that some sort of order was to be upheld but as the moon forced the werewolves to become unruly and the sun forced the vampires hidden away during the day, it didn't seem possible. That was until drow mages arrived on the island and offered a solution in exchange for a home and protection. Like the others, they too had met with injustice once they came to the surface, particularly from the wizards of Iria.

Once the arrangements were made, they used their magic to summon an impenetrable darkness to shroud the land from sunlight except for a couple of hours in the day, though this ritual would have to occur every few years to maintain it. Keeping their word, the vampires granted the drow what they wished and the former would serve as the diplomats and the head of the governing houses. For the wolves, resentment was still in their hearts from what they were put through by their former kin. A seeping hatred grew from it, especially in their bestial state. To satisfy them, the other parties granted them the freedom to do as they wished, as long as they caused no harm towards the citizens. As the city’s conditions improved and became involved with trading, plenty of humans, elves and other races came and the wolves were given permission to do as they saw fit…

Kurayo is a major trading city in the southern part of the island; its numerous ports receive cargo from around the realm while its own fleets travel constantly through the Nyella Ocean. For a place made perfect of the degenerates of the world in mind, its streets area are fairly clean, though the occasional back alleyway may have signs of a previous carnage present on its walls. A cathedral made of sandstone looms near the coastline, for the denizens worship the moon and the blessings of the night with its stained glasses representing such. The people seemingly get along with one another for the most part and would sooner try to just keep out of each other’s way than to get into a squabble, although few disputes tend to happen around the pubs and at the plaza.

The city is governed by a council of nine, made up of the ruling houses of vampires, werewolves and drow of the descendants of the original settlers. Though they carry a shaky alliance within each other, they share a disdain towards outsiders in regards of overstaying their welcome. But the werewolves are the least trusting of the three and and the most vicious towards them, only seeing them as easy prey. That, coupled with no official protection granted to visitors, explains why it is not uncommon to find bloodbaths taking place and lives taken by the beasts at night, and the rise of full moon only strengthens both their hate and causality rate. Only through the offered protection from the other houses can one escape such a gruesome fate, but for a price.
