The manor was filled with happiness after Simone and Lewis' return. Dala was just relieved her best friend was safe and not as dead. Yet, there was something in the back of her mind that made her thoughts linger on whoever did it. They said it was Jerome but he was supposed to be locked up. Somebody had freed him and the rest of the family was handling it. Still, she felt like she didn't have all the information. There wasn't much she could do for investigations and it was already being handled. She trusted Lewis and Simone to figure out what was going on.
"Hey, could you let them know I'm going shopping before the appointment." She said to one of the servants.
Ever since the incident, everybody had become very careful with where they went and what they did. If anybody whether they were servants or kids or visitors left they had to tell somebody. She left with her backpack full of her equipment and was half-tempted to bring along Charise for fun. Then she remembered the last time her golden dragon went into a bookstore and decided to let her sleep. Dala left for Adeluna, borrowing one of the portals from somebody who used them and went off to the city. Once she was there she found a selection of books that had caught her interest and bought them, shoving them in her backpack. It was still a bit early to see Xeix so she decided to wander around the marketplace.
The young woman suddenly came to a halt as she took a look at her surroundings. Everything looked normal but something was wrong. Someone was watching her. Dala quickly ran off into an alleyway and began to weave between alleyways then back onto the main street, crowding in with other people in an attempt to lose the stalker. Years of living on Vilpamolan trained her instincts for these kinds of people. Despite her dodging and weaving, that feeling of being watched remained. She ducked into an alleyway to continue avoiding whoever it was. The alleyway was dark and further away from the crowds. She drew her sword and held it out, pointing it towards the ground but scanning the shadows with her eyes.
"There you are."
She jumped and turned around to see a figure in the darkness. The voice was familiar…. too familiar. A voice she had heard a thousand times when she was nine. He stepped out of the shadows with an unnatural grin on his face. Dala's expression twisted into anger as she swung her sword at him. Before she could complete a swing, she felt something grab her arms. Two arms made up of shadows had grabbed her arms and were pulling her downwards. A blackened portal had opened up and these arms were trying to drag her towards it. She opened her mouth to curse at Marcov but more shadows reached out and covered her mouth. Her sword was thrown to the wall and her backpack was torn off of her.
"You won't need these anymore," Marcov said with a twisted smile as he walked towards Dala.
More arms came from the blackened portal and wrapped around her waist and neck, violently pulling her towards the portal. He leaned in towards the young woman, close enough to her hear, and whispered to her.
"I always get my property back, no matter the cost."
Fear. Hatred. Everything was in her eyes as she struggled desperately against the arms. The portal was swallowing her up whole. Everything was going dark but she could still hear that wretched voice. Then everything went dark.
