The screams, smell of blood, and dark glow of the fire where all the senses the god could see as the forces of the Void overran the camp. He had thought that the area would be safe, he had thought that he could make it a haven for those who were trapped, little did he know that it was an ambush in waiting. They didn’t strike immediately, No they bided their time until a sense of peace could be felt then they struck. Quick as lightning and as ravenous as the most rabid animal he had ever felt. The base was lost, and the lives that gave trying to defend were in vain Zanar knew this, but he couldn’t let those serving under him see what he saw.

He fired off beam after beam from his bow, trying to save anyone as they were either turned by infesters or devoured by the iron chaws of void Chompers. He even tried to provide mercy kills to those in the middle of transforming into another void denizen.

“You need to flee now!”

One of his own Rangers called out to him. Why though? He was a god, he could not be killed by these grotesque creatures. He had nothing to fear from them, so why? He did not understand, his men knew who he knew what he was capable of. The thoughts flooded his mind as another arrow was let loose from his silver bow striking a Plaguer, and the foul poisons that swelled within its body exploded over both voidsent and man alike. He wasn’t thinking, he was losing it due to his overall exhaustion and the fact that he had caused all these people to die.

“My Lord, Please you need to flee. If they catch you, you could end up like the lady Death was! Please…flee!!”

He heard the shout again as he drew back the mana string of his bow. The Ranger was right. The world could not handle another one of the conclave being possessed by the eldritch being that had done so to Dalanesca. Zanar looked at the ranger who was calling to him, his eyes had already accepted that he was not going to make it through the day. Zanar closed his eye and took a deep breath, his bow becoming the raven necklace once more that he wore. ”Very well, forgive me.”

“There is nothing to forgive, we followed you. We worshipped you. You are our Patron, our lives are yours to command until our dying breath. It is an honor to be your chosen Ranger.”

Zanar’s teeth clenched together as he was trying to hold back his feelings. He was not just a god, but a leader. A leader to the defensive line, they needed him to live. Without looking he quickly turned and started to run to where he knew was a portal. He would not let the man’s memory and sacrifice be for naught it was what he could do as a Deity. As he expected though the portal was not safe, as he had to fight his way through. Unfortunately, a chomper had managed to sink its jaw into his left shoulder. He had managed to kill it and get it off but he was bleeding and his shoulder was shattered from the force of the jaws.

He would heal, he didn’t have to worry, but just because he was immortal did not mean he could not feel the pain shoot through him. He reached the portal and jumped through before any more of the vile creatures could grab ahold of him. He rolled out of the other side into a wetland, his wound stinging even more cause of the water striking it. Managing to get his bearings he could feel a wave of exhaustion hit him like a boulder. He got to a knee and looked around. He was not familiar with the area at all.

The wound is not healing fast, and the exhaustion has crept up even more on me. Onnen, so far away from the tree’s grace…that has to be it.

He had to find a place to lie low, or else he’d be an easy target for any voidsent that had decided to make its way to this place as well.
