There was no rhyme or reason in the way these creatures attacked. When Lynx was done with the spider-thing, she leaped toward a chomper, grabbing its arm and using her momentum to drag it to the ground before dealing the final blow with her jaw. The fennec fox took a moment to gaze up as Phoenix continued her deadly dance. She spied a golden dragon-like creature all but diving right at them and gave a warning hiss at Phoenix, mentally pressing against her mind to warn of the potential danger. However, the woman could not afford to take her attention from her current enemies who really did not seem to notice what was going on above them.

When the wyvern landed, Phoenix threw her hands up to shield her face as she fought for balance against the gusts from those powerful wings. For too long, the woman stood in wonder, watching as the magnificent creature chewed his way through several Chompers, his tail swishing as it whipped through foes she had not realized were approaching from the side for a flank. Phoenix was entranced by the way this powerful creature shrunk and shifted shape, horns, and scales submerging beneath tan skin. With grace akin to that of elves, this draconic man’s movements were liquid.

She blinked at his words, figuratively picking her jaw up off the ground, forcing herself back into the reality of the situation. They were in the middle of a catastrophe, an invasion of nightmarish proportions. “Not at all,” she responded with a light blush. What the heck was wrong with her?? Phoenix mentally chastised herself as she was forced into defending herself from another chomper. To be caught as a moonstruck owlet in the middle of a battlefield was reckless! An arm of a chomper was sliced right off before she skewered the poor creature in its head when a loud roar caused Phoenix to shudder.

Chompers and spiders alike skittered away, leaving a path from which barreled down a creature straight from a terrible night terror. At first, Phoenix thought it was one of Shuja’s people, an elephant humanoid with large tusks and giant ears, but it was wrong. Its skull was exposed, the ears and trunk missing. From the waist down was an amalgamation of various parts to form a large lumpy tail. It jumped, sailing through the air with unlikely speed until it came crashing down. Sounds of a humanoid screaming as the large creature disappeared underground. Phoenix ran to the poor sap caught in that creature’s path. She did not hesitate when she knelt by the person’s side.

He had lost his leg in his attempt to dodge out of the way. She glanced up at the draconic warrior. ”We must get him to safety!” It didn’t matter if he was more feline than humanoid, she had learned all life came in various shapes and sizes. Throwing his arm around her neck, Pheonix began the attempt to drag him from the front lines to the medics who can potentially save his life.

An unknown force shook the earth and skies, and creatures not of this world followed as if they had been set free from their otherworldly prison. They came in swarms and attacked, turning the once beautiful and peaceful land into a macabre field. It sounded like something one might read in a book of fables. Yet, this was real. Very, very real.

Amen-ra had left his Clan in search of the Alphas whom once visited. Ensarrian and Sanyi, the betrothed young Wyverns that lost their home at a very young age. Before, he had offered them a place within his own Clan, but since they had turned him down, he wondered what became of them. He had no doubt in his mind that they were alive and well. He had witnessed their power as a team, after all, even when they had denied their obvious feelings for each other. They are a force to be reckoned with. However, that was not enough to keep him from seeking them out. If not as aid, then as an ally, and friend. But he wondered if this was a good time to be leaving his Clan without their Alpha. His people are fierce and powerful, great in number. They would put up a fight their enemies would not soon forget. It was his love for them that made him worry nonetheless.

As he wondered whether to venture onward or turn back, Amen-ra looked down upon the creature infested land. Eyes of gold caught sight of a woman fighting alone, with only a fox by her side. The creatures of nightmares surrounded her. Although her blade met any that approached, from his view Amen-ra could see the army marching closer towards her. Even the mightiest of warriors could not withstand those numbers alone. This woman was fierce, but the Wyvern could not leave her to be overwhelmed. His massive wings beat louder than drums in the sky as he began his descent. Golden plumage shined for a moment like the sun, while his whip-like tail streamed behind him. The ground trembled from the might of his landing. Earth was tossed high, undergrowth overturned as it was ripped away from its soil. His claws were like spears that gripped the ground like a harpoon, his wings beating with such power that anything nearby was swept from its feet. His size was towering as he lifted his head. It was clear that he was no adolescent, yet he had not reached the size much older Wyverns grow to. He is still in his prime.

In a flash, his tail collided with his foes and tossed them far from him. His enormous and terrifying jaws split to display long, deadly fangs before he chomped down on three creatures, all of which had mouths in their bellies. Bones snapped and crunched, their silenced screams signaling their deaths. He spit them out like garbage, and his eyes finally landed back onto the woman. He willed his transformation to drop before her very eyes. Scales, horns and feathers of gold shrunk away into handsome tan skin. His body reformed; wings became arms, the long neck and snout was shortened and tail vanished. The horns on his head were lost within thick raven hair. A charming man stood in place of the Wyvern. He did not spare a second. Knives were drawn and thrown with deadly accuracy at two more belly mouthed creatures that came at the woman. Daggers were the only weapons he had on him, but he displayed astounding skill with them. His movements in battle were like the dances performed in his Clan: graceful, elegant, yet sharp, accurate and swift like a striking viper.

“I hope I am not intruding,” he said to the woman. Spinning on his heels, he turned his back to her and struck a dagger through the legs of a six legged creature, slicing them off on one side. “Care to share the glory?” Amen-ra made no attempt to hide his cocky smirk. Even on the battlefield he maintained his playfulness.

It did not seem right. Not too long ago, Phoenix woke as a full-grown adult in a new world. No memories to call her own, nor an identity to lay claim to. Every day created new questions and answered none. Fates seemed cruel to thrust her, unprepared and innocent as a babe, into battle. Phoenix was unsure of her ability to help. She may very well be good for nothing more than binding a bleeding wound.

Could she even hold her weapon and wield it with any form of proficiency? Yet, in times of war, doubt would surely only serve to pave the road to death. It was time for the babe to stand and learn to walk. Lynx pressed a wet nose against Phoenix's palm, a gentle reminder that she was not alone. A simple gesture, but it went farther than anything else could in this predicament. The large fennec fox was her only link to the past and her closest friend.

"Well, Lynx… Let us go save the world so we may find the past." She smiled at the familiar before drawing her sword. Before her, a large crack was cleaved through the earth and air, a rip of time and space. At some point, it had broken open and began to unleash its horrors upon Revaliir. Phoenix saw bloated creatures lumbering toward the defensive line. Something skittered through the tall grass, making it shimmer and wave similar to an ocean. There were also many which resembled soldiers being the bulk of the enemy forces.

Appalled by their appearance, Phoenix stood transfixed as scores of man and abominations fell alike. Lynx growled, but she couldn't bring herself to move her attention to her. It wasn't until some large humanoid creature with a mouth across its stomach attacked her. Phoenix drew her sword, running the blade right through the stomach and out the shoulder. The creature was stunned momentarily before the two halves of the body separated and collapsed in a heap before her. To her right, Lynx jumped at a small six lagged like creature, chomping at its back while avoiding any attacks from it. With no time to be awed by her initial reaction, Phoenix began slicing her way through the enemy, losing herself in the movement of the sword.
