Separating from her mom had been really hard at first. Nimi had lived with her mother the entirety of her life, and they'd been the best of friends in addition to mother and daughter. Her mum had taught her everything she knew about the art and craft of making food. But finally, the time had come to separate and for the young baker to get on and start a life of her own. There'd been a lot of tears but she knew she had her mom's blessing.
Packing her cookware and other goods into a small cart her mom had bought as a going away gift, she traveled across Parvpora, seeking a town to set up her new shoppe in. It'd been tumultuous at times, what with weather and other obstacles, but finally she'd been directed to what seemed like a promising place in Kometeia, the city of halflings.
Entering the gorgeous city greeted her with amazingly engineered buildings, glass windows and what looked like a jewel glimmering in the sunlight. Exchanging a few words with a property broker, she soon found herself in a combination house and shoppe in one of the more quieter but still well-traveled marketplace roads. At the front was a gate that could be opened into her small shoppe, numerous shelves for baskets full of goods and a counter for trade.
Behind was a hearth and mixing area, perfect for a single or two person cooking operation. Further back when the shoppe was closed up, was a single story living area with a small den, another small kitchen area, a bed and a place outside to draw rainwater for a bath. The chubby baker had fallen in love with the place on sight and purchased it immediately.
Offloading her cart and setting up her home had taken a couple of days, along with walking about, striking up conversations and meeting some of her neighbours and what she hoped would become loyal, routine customers. During this time, she got an idea of what people enjoying buying and what she could offer them.
After about a week of acclimating, she got up before dawn as was her custom and set about preparing the first batches of dough for breads, rolls, and sweet treats. Even as the sun was breaking over the horizon, the smell coming from her shoppe was incredible, something she enjoyed very much, as she was standing in the back cutting sugar dough into lovely shapes to be baked and iced into adorable cookie creations. She hummed to herself as she worked, a handkerchief wrapped around her forehead as she set out plates of samples and filled the baskets with cinnamon rolls and other confectioneries.

"Be strong and take life's ups and downs as they come, but don't forget to stop for a cookie once in a while."
