The Komiteia Area Description
Sub Area Descriptions: Emiria
The homeland of the Halfling race, Komiteia, exists on the southeastern part of Parvpora. It was once a land of prosper, intellect, and a gem for all of the fair folk to gauge their cities on. Komiteia’s capital Erimia has dealt with terrible hardships over the time since the World Tree, Verya, fell in Parvpora. While the rest of their kin rose to destroy the Parvpora World Tree, Komiteia tried to remain neutral. They sought after a cure to the madness that Verya had come under, that all of her Gods had come under.
While Komiteia’s splendor has faded over time, it’s vibrant beauty still remains. While it might not seem so from a very tall person’s perspective, the city is done with elegance and their buildings are tall exquisite structures. Made from highly polished marble, a natural resource in Komiteia, all of their buildings are hand carved and finely detailed. Their windows are done with stained glass depicting several Halfling tales, making known their love of storytelling. The streets are made of cobblestone and lined with fine silver lanterns that are lit every night just before the sun starts to set so the streets are illuminated. The style of architecture that Komiteia uses is a direct reflection of Kurayo’s gothic. When rebuilding from the disaster of Verya’s falling they decided to go with the look of Kurayo but use the white marble that Komiteia is known for.
Wandering the streets one will find their massive marketplace, second only to Arri’s bazaar in Canelux. There are several taverns and inns all marked with mahogany signs, colorfully painted with symbols revealing what the buildings are. Each store window has stained glass depicting the wares within, such as a glass tankard with foam flowing over the ends. While nearing the center of the city one comes across a lavish celebration circle. Nearby, the bazaar is set up with multiple stalls and traders from all of Parvpora, come to see the unique treasures that pass through the market. The most famous tavern in all of Komiteia is called Eden, known for their fresh strawberry mead. The best inn that everyone recommends is known as Wyndham, rumors say their maids are the prettiest Haflings in all of Komiteia and that their beds are the softest.
The outer edge of the city is all farmlands with slightly less wondrous structures, though care was still put into the buildings. The lack of marble stonework sets it apart from the buildings within the city walls.
Emiria
When Verya fell, her parts splintered all over Parvpora causing immense damage and residual magical anomalies, Komiteia was one of the worst affected by it. The magical residue that had been cast off the Tree as it fell infected the southern borders of the Halfling nation. The plant life began to corrupt, dripping with necromantic energies. It has spread slowly over the years claiming the land grass blade by grass blade.
By the will of the Halfling magis, a strong barrier was put up to keep the corruption from spreading too far. It can be seen visibly by the magic arcane ring that floats over the corrupting land. Its edges appear to block off even some of the Nylea Ocean and if one were to get close enough they could see that even the ocean life has slowly been corrupted over time. The infected part of Komiteia is called Erimia. It was once the capital of the Komiteia nation.
Within this magic barrier, one can find the ruins of the once great civilization. Bronze and marble lay strewn about, half-decayed buildings, and large petrified branches of the fallen World Tree. The branches are the epicenter for the very thing corrupting Erimia. They radiate and infect whatever gets close enough to them. If one were to get close enough to get infected the barrier would never let them out, so wise words would be not to get too close. The results of what could happen can be found in the zombified like creatures that wander Erimia, attacking whatever or whoever comes within their sight.
Whatever had affected the World Tree and it’s gods, has never really gone away. Whatever has caused the corruption, however, was never found out. During magical storms that disrupt the barrier around Erimia alchemical circles activate to power the barrier until the magic can be restored, this is done only because alchemy cannot be affected by the void magic. The alchemical substances used for this are widely unknown but it is said they are a routine gift from Arri’s Academy.
Erimia has been retaken by nature and taken by the corruption at the same time. As long as one doesn’t get near the source of the corruption they are welcomed to see what the Halfling nation used to be. The corruption has summoned a creature that lurks deep within the grounds of Erimia and once in awhile fissures will open allowing the creature’s long tentacles to come out and harass nearby wildlife and people visiting the lands. It is best to always be on your guard when in the cursed lands of Erimia.
