If blood sports before the sins had taken over people had been brutal, then the ones held in Eyota in its current state were far more cruel and destructive. It wasn’t hard for outsiders looking in to see that the inflicted were crazed with bloodlust and watching bodies being mangled and broken for their own amusement. But there had been a reason why the natives didn’t speak of it outside of the region, Paige had seen the consequences only once before, but the man’s unfortunate combustion served as a good lesson to learn and she dared not speak of the incident. Instead, she kept a good eye out around here and stood among the cheering audiences as they watched with glee over the brawls within the cages.

It was sickening and barbaric to observe after the first few fights, but seeing how there was little anyone can do to lift this curse off of them, she couldn’t stop any of it. But it didn’t mean that she wouldn’t continue to observe from afar and find out some key elements that might stand out. Keeping her hood low, the raven-haired woman watched the latest fight end and the loser instantly combusting before their eyes. When the flames died down and the charcoaled remains were carried out, the crowd demanded more as usual and she kept to herself to avoid being chosen as the next victim to this troubling whirlwind. Had they truly lost all form of themselves? Warriors a lot of them were, but this? There was no honor among this savagery. Whatever the gods had hoped to see from this were getting exactly what they wanted, as disgusting as this was.

The lycan backed away from the audience, careful not to touch any of them. It didn’t take much to drive their anger- sometimes it didn’t take anything at all to do that. Them just catching sight of you was enough and she didn’t wish to be one of the cages’ next victims. Losing was certainly not an option and winning didn’t guarantee anything more than to earn another fight and continue until eventually they too were cleansed in fire. At least there was no one that she really cared for that was participating in this nonsense.
