Simone looked at Mia and Xeik, “Please for the love of the gods tell me you two have dates. Please tell me you two are normal.” They had even beaten it into Rex to take Hazel on dates especially now with the babies coming.

Osiria smiled at Rhenakos when she saw him finally asking. She was glad that he got the courage to do it. Maybe it would be fun. She brought Izzy and Reva to her and kissed them both. “I love you girls so much.”

Simone watched the scene. They’ve become responsible adults finally. It’s endearing but if he doesn’t stop STARING AT MY ASS LEWIS I SWEAR TO THE GODS.

Rex glared at his siblings for a moment. “I’ll show you an animal!” He leapt up from the chair, effortlessly shifting into a wolf. There was a rather loud tearing sound as his clothes stretched and ripped around him, but Rex didn’t seem to mind. He playfully tackled Alshaya and Everett to the ground and the three started to wrestle around, laughing.

While the entertainment was happening, Rhenakos walked up to Lewis after a little pressure from Os, and cleared his throat.

“I uhh…have a question,” Rhenakos said.

“You and everyone else,” Lewis responded. “Let me guess. You want some kind of advice that involves relationships. Angela, I swear if you keep this up I’m going to start charging.” He could almost feel the goddess laughing at him. But, she was right. Out of the whole group, Lewis and Simone had it down. Somehow.

“Fine…what do you want to know?” Lewis asked.

“Well…Os and I have never been on a date.”

Simone was on the other side of the courtyard sipping wine, and when she heard this she almost spit it all out.

Lewis’ eyes were wide with a cross between surprise and disbelief. “How…you know what, I don’t want to know.” He sighed. “Just do something…normal. A dinner and a walk through a park. Go on a boat ride through Jayou. Go see a play or something…I don’t know what else to really tell you.”

Rhenakos crossed his arms. “We went to a play before. Was a real good sho-”

“Cabaret clubs don’t count as plays, idiot,” Rhenakos said with a dead stare.

“Oh, right…” Rhenakos replied. “So…an actual…like play?”

“Yeah. Or maybe a romantic dinner on the river. The moon high…set the mood.” Half od Lewis was talking out of his ass. The other half was pulling lines from cheesy romance novels that Simone had read at some point for ‘research’.

Rex helped Hazel sit down at the table and they were lovingly rubbing her belly. They were talking all hushed which was a first for Rex if you knew him before Hazel.

Alshaya smiled up at Lewis, “Yeah! Carry me some moreee~”

Simone hugged and kissed Roma’s cheek as she watched some of her youngest raising all unholy hell in their courtyard. “Shaya don’t tell your brother that… Come on.”

“He shouldn’t have threatened my pets!”

“YOU DON’T EVEN HAVE THEM YET,” Everett yelled as he threw his hands up. “You are impossible!”

“No, I’m not. Women are just sophisticated,” Shaya said with an eye roll and sass.

Simone chuckled a bit more. “Princesses shouldn’t be rolling around in the dirt like an animal.”

Everett and Shaya looked at each other and grinned, “REX WHY AREN’T YOU ROLLING AROUND IN THE DIRT?!”

Osiria smiled a bit and Reva had settled into Rhenakos’s lap, “You should go ahead and ask… Now is a perfect time. We aren’t eating and we have some time.” She rubbed his shoulders trying to give him a bit of confidence. She knew Rhenakos didn’t really like asking for help.

Lewis smirked and knelt down, patting Alshaya’s head before picking her up. “I bet you missed this, spoiled girl.” His smirk changed to a genuine smile as he held her and opened a portal. “All right…everyone in.”

The kids were ushered in first, and Xeik took Mia’s hand to help her through. He shivered a little as he passed the smiling Lewis, though. That was something he would never get used to. The portal opened up to the inner gardens that Simone had been working on. The lighting was almost perfect, and there was a table with pre-meal snacks and hors d'oeuvres for anyone interested.

“Silva works quite quickly,” Lewis said with a smile.

“She has help,” an older voice said as Lewis’ father came waltzing in with a pail filled with ice and wine. “How did the check up go?” Since he had joined the Terrowin household, Roma had become much happier and lively. He hadn’t realized it, but the life he had been living before was taxing on his health.

“It went about as expect-” He looked down to see Everett and Alshaya wrestling again. “Can you at least stop for the night?”

Everett grunted as he shoved Alshaya off of him, “She started it! She said I look better with a broken nose!”

Mia huffed at the sound of dinner and wrote, “Lobster and lamb chops.”

“Jeeze, she has expensive tastes,” Simone added on.

“It’s the baby. Blame Xeik.” Mia held up the sign again.

“I could really go for a nice big bowl of salad… and maybe some bacon…” Hazel blushed a bit since she wasn’t used to offering up what her cravings her. “And maybe some blueberry pie.”

Simone smirked a bit, “I think we can manage that at home. We have all of that. Come on! If we go out we’re just going to get into trouble.”

Simone got ahold of Silva and gave them what they wanted for dinner. “We normally don’t eat friends but lobster is readily available so we get it for dinner parties… Should we need to have them.”

“Pearl deserved it,” Shaya spoke up as she was given a cup of juice.

“I’m sure she did…”

“What did she do?” Osiria tilted her head.

“Oh, she made a comment that Shaya won’t share so she broke her nose. We had to have a dinner party to offer our ‘we’re sorry your child is a spoiled brat and ours hit yours.’ No bad blood for now…” Simone smirked. “But I’m going to find out what she said Shaya.”

“I don’t feellllll like attending funerals,” Shaya said as she colored at the table. Osiria and the others giggled while Simone had a disappointed look on her face.

“Really Shaya?”

“Yeah.”

Rhenakos slowly nodded, “Yeah…Lewis outta know. He’s great with- Hey wait, how does he surprise Simone when they’re in each other’s head? How does that even work?” He was met with a shrug from Angela, and the hunter sighed. “Guess I can ask him that too…”

From the other room, Lewis sneezed.

Rhenakos waved his hand, “Thank you, Angela…” He and Osiria walked out of the room and back into the waiting room. To his surprise, Lewis and Simone had waited. The kids seemed to be wrestling on the floor, and there was a warning from Lewis not to hurt each other. Again.

Xeik was sitting down with Mia leaning against him as he pet her softly. Rex and Hazel almost mirrored it across the room.

Lewis looked over to Xeik, nodding. “So…everyone up for dinner? We can host, or we can go out…or whatever.” If it was based on his appearance alone, everyone in the room would have guessed that he was wholly uninterested in dinner plans, but the group could tell that he was actually being rather generous with his emotions today.

Osiria looked at Rhenakos, “I don’t… actually think we have…” She realized the same thing that Rhenakos did.

Angela thought about it, “Perhaps it’s best to hear it from someone who isn’t me. I have only the worst ideas for dates. But remember that dates don’t have to go perfectly. They just have to make you both happy.”

Osiria reached over and took Rhenakos’s hand in hers. It was rare when they were gentle with one another but they really did want it to work. “What do you suggest?”

“Me? Little ol’ me?” Angela chuckled. “Ask Lewis for advice. He is quick on his feet and he normally plans everything with Simone in advance and they surprise each other. Their relationship is healthy and full. They would be the best people to ask.”

Rhenakos looked at Osiria, and then back at Angela. “R…omancing?” He thought for a moment. Crossed his arms. More thinking. He opened his mouth to say something, and then paused. He started to tap his foot.

“There was that one time in…wait, no…that didn’t…” He cocked his head to the side. “There was the lake…but…no…that was just straight sex…” Rhenakos looked down at the floor. “Have we…ever gone on a date? Ever?” He looked to Osiria. “Most of what we did was work related. Or…well…just surviving. I don’t….think we’ve ever gone on a date.”

That was one hell of a revelation for Rhenakos. The Goddess of Life and Love was telling him he needed to go on more dates with Osiria. The demon hunter took a deep breath. “We..should go on a date then, I guess Os…” He thought for a moment. “How…does that even work?”

Reva smiled up at Izzy, “I love Daddy and Mommy a lot! They do good!” The little girl couldn’t understand Izzy but she loved her sister all the same. “Pie!!!”

Angela smiled a bit. “I know you are trying. That little girl has a lot of Toya in her now and it means proving yourself for a while. Osiria and yourself have grown up a lot. Not all couples are compatible on the working together part. You care about one another and love each other. That’s very clear to me and I would never lie about my sphere.”

She reached up and patted Rhenakos on the head. “I think it would be best if you tried romancing each other.”

“Romancing? Don’t we do that enough?”

“I didn’t say fucking Os. Lewis and Simone go on a date a few times a week. Start by actually being romantic. When was the last time you took Osiria out?” She looked up at Rhenakos. “On a date. Not to a tavern. Like… a boat ride in Jayou… or a nice restaurant. I have suggestions for days.”

It was hard to hear the truth, even from a goddess, and Izzy merely huffed and turned her head away at the statement that Rhenakos and Osiria were trying. “Just keep it up. I’ll be making surprise visits and asking Reva how things are going.” She crossed her arms and let out another huff. “You better take care of my sister… I can sic dragons on you now. If…Toya lets me borrow them…”

Angela finished up with Reva, and when the little girl said how much she liked raspberries, Izzy smiled. “Maybe I can make you a raspberry pie when I get home. Would you like that Reva?” Izzy walked over and bopped Reva’s nose. “You’re the best sister anyone could ask for.”

Rhenakos sighed as Izzy led Reva out of the room before the other two, and shook his head. “I really am trying.” He looked back at Angela. “Thanks…for showing us how far we’ve come. It really has been a struggle, but I think we’ve managed to do well. And a lot of that comes down to your help. I…don’t think we would have survived without it.”

Angela was checking over the charts. “Yes, Izzy. Reva is a good weight and healthy to boot. Osiria you have really calmed down and become the modest housewife.”

Osiria blushed a bit and looked up at Rhenakos, “We said we would do better. We meant it, Izzy.” Os offered her a smile.

“They are trying Izzy. You have to believe in that. Also.” Angela took her quill and their heartstring appeared. It was almost a full red now. “You’ve been working on your relationship. Good job.”

Osiria was now bright red as she pulled Reva into her lap. “I didn’t know this was for us.”

“It’s for all of you. For your children to be healthy… You and Rhenakos need to be healthy. You are also healthy Rhenakos.”

Reva was sitting there with a grin on her face as Angela rubbed her hair, “Thank you, Auntie!”

“You are very welcome sweetheart. I will say that Reva has a weaker constitution than her sister. So that means you’ve been doing wonderful.”

“Is that why Reva gets sick so easily compared to Izzy?” Os seemed concerned now.

“It could be. As long as you watch what she eats and make sure she stays physical… Eventually, it will be fine.” Angela rummaged around and got out some herbal jelly. “Give this to her in the morning. Just a dab of it. Tastes like raspberries.”

“I LOVE RASPBERRIES!” Reva squealed.

“I know you do.”

“Any questions?”

Rhenakos and Osiria marched their way in with Reva in hand, and a reluctant Izori followed. She huffed when Lady Angela made a comment about how she looked like her sister. “It’s not my fault she practically raised me.” She stuck her tongue out almost defiantly. She would rather be anywhere else but here, but because of Reva and the rest of the Raize family’s check up Toya insisted she go, in case something was wrong.

‘Insisted’ was a strong word. More like Izzy was thrown out and told not to come back without the check up. Izzy had a sinking feeling that Toya would know if she lied, and that was something that the girl was definitely going to avoid at all cost. There were a lot of scary things in the world, but Aunt Toya was at the very, tippy top of that list.

“How’s my sister? Is she doing okay? Are these numbskulls feeding her right?”

That earned a glare from Rhenakos, but he sighed. That was probably earned, as there were nights where Izzy had gone without dinner due to a variety of different reasons.

“Look, I said I was sorry…”

You couldn’t tell from looking at Lewis but Simone could. “I was just playing~”

“This man doesn’t play when it comes to his princesses… He doesn't want any of them getting boyfriends…” Simone smirked a bit. “Even Alshaya.”

Angela thought about it, “Rhenakos and Osiria.”

She waited before they wandered in with Izzy and Reva. “Well don’t you look adorable Reva… and you look like my sister with that pose Izzy.” Finally, she looked up at Rhenakos and Osiria. “How’s the married life?”

As Drake and Vela left the room talking about babies, Lewis was finally next. As the cast was removed, Lewis let out a breath of relief, smirking. “Glad to have this back. Now I can get back to work.” He paused. “Well…at least what constitutes work now. I’m glad to be able to hold the kids with both arms at least…” There were other things that crossed his mind, but he kept that part to himself and Simone.

“Who’s next? I’ll call them out for you, Angela,” Lewis said as he tested out his arm. “Please don’t tell me Ezili is pregnant. I might die…”

Angela started to laugh, “Sounds like you have some talking to do…” Angela winked at Drake and checked out Vela’s wing. “Looks like it’s healing quite well. You can’t be rough with it still Drake. Not like you are with this one,” Angela gave one of the wings a rough tug.

“OI!” Vela yelled and danced around trying to get away from the goddess.

“Ah ah ah… This is my temple~” Angela chuckled a bit as she pulled Vela back.

“I don’t think I like this game,” Vela yelled as she was prodded by the goddess.

“Oh~ Vela is very fertile too.” Vela froze up at the words that left the goddess’s mouth.

“Keep your nose in your own business!”

“I can’t. I have a reputation to keep,” Angela smirked. “Oh, Lewis come here.” She took his arm and started to undo the cast and free it. “You are good to go. You are all healed up. Just be careful with it okay? At least until you get used to it.”

Drake walked in behind Vela, apologizing for her rather rude intrusion. It was just something that he just accepted at this point, and usually found himself apologizing to a surprising amount of people because of it.

“Oh, congrats!” Drake said with a smile. “I hear boys are a pain once they hit teens. Rebellious and the like.” He was originally going to turn his attention to vela and drag her out, but it seemed like Angela was fine with her being there, at least for the moment. When Angela threatened to make a potion, though, Drake paled.

“Oh, no thanks…Vela and I aren’t-”

“That cat’s been out of the bag for a very long time, Drake,” Lewis interrupted. “Bets were made and paid out already. Might as well stop hiding it.”

“Fine,” Drake replied with a sigh. “But we’re not ready. I…” He glanced over to Vela. “Don’t…even know if she’ll ever be ready with the way she acts sometimes…”

Simone smiled with Lewis and chuckled, “At least he won’t be a little hellion.”

Janus looked up at Simone at the mention and grunted.

“Don’t you grunt at me. You know who I’m talking about,” Simone laughed and looked at Lewis. “They are both guilty.” Lila was hiding her face in Lewis’s chest. “Acting so shy are we now?”

“They are both healthy too. You’ve done so well with them,” Angela praised as she looked over Glyn. “And look how healthy he is! You both are the best parents!”

“You are going to make me blush,” Simone chuckled.

“I’m being serious. You two are some of the best parents I’ve ever met… And just think about it. When we met I wanted to strangle Lewis!”

“I know me too,” Simone chuckled.

Soon Vela popped into the room and it was a bit more crowded. “I want to be involved. WHATCHA DOING IN HERE?!”

Angela sighed a bit and laughed. Vela was growing on her. “You are full of surprises. We just told Xeik that Mia is pregnant with a boy.”

“OH! Congratulations! Everyone is having babies~” Vela cooed.

“I could make a potion for you if you wanted some~” Angela teased.

“WHAT?!” Vela got red and found herself in shock.

It was adorable that Mia went and grabbed Simone, and the look on her face brought a smile to Xeik. Moments later, the words “It’s a boy” passed Angela’s lips, and Xeik lit up with a bright smile, despite his exhaustion.

“It is!?” The most amusing part about it all was that, no matter what Angela had said, Xeik’s reaction would have been the same. The excitement of just knowing was in itself a powerful tool, and euphoria that the Divine Mender was feeling right now was practically filling the room.

Lewis smirked, and clapped gently. “Congratulations, Xeik.” He walked up to Xeik, and gave him a clap on the back. :I hope you’re ready. It’ll be a long, difficult road…”

Xeik was still brimming with excitement, “Yeah. But it’ll be worth it!”

Lewis nodded. “We’ll help if we can. Just ask…”

Mia grinned at Lewis’s answer, “Perfect.” She wrote it down and showed it to Xeik. This would be what they would want since Lewis and Simone couldn’t. Mia got up and grabbed Simone bringing her in with all the babies. Handing Lila off to Lewis Mia sat back down. “Okay, now.”

Simone was confused but she looked up at Lewis.

“I think Mia wants you to be here to experience it since you can’t and didn’t with the twins,” Angela smiled a bit and found it sweet.

“Aw… Mia…” Simone smiled at Lewis and then looked down at the twins who were content watching Xeik freak out.

“It’s a boy Xeik. You are having a son,” Angela chuckled a bit.

Mia started to clap, “Just like Xeik!”

“Or… It’s a male Mia,” Angela said.

“Or a perfect mixture of you both!” Simone chuckled.

As Xeik was roused from his panic induced slumber, Lewis crossed his arms and smirked. “Oh, is that all?” the ex-assassin asked. “Of course we’d want to know. It’s a part of the excitement. Something we never really got to experience, really. I mean…the twins were born unexpectedly from magic, so there was no waiting period. But we would definitely want to know.”

Xeik stood up, breathing hard. “Okay…I can handle this…I can-” He took a deep, deep breath. “Okay…Ang, I’m ready. Wait…” He held up his hand. “No….now I’m ready. Okay, go.” He closed his eyes and braced himself, as though we were about to get struck.

Lewis rolled his eyes. “Just…let it rip, Angela…I doubt he’ll ever stop at this point…”

Angela looked over at Xeik, “Ahhh, I love giving him a hard time.” She had a checklist she was writing things on. “Father is jittery and full of excitement. Passed out due to… excitement. We should have smelling salts on hand when the baby is born… Xeik might pass out.”

Mia looked over at Xeik and then to Lewis with a grin. She began to write down on her board, “Angela asked if we wanted to know what the baby was. Xeik panicked. Lewis, what would you do if it were Simone?”

Angela came over and put smelling salts under Xeik’s nose, “Wakey wakey my little Divine Mender. Lewis is going to decide for you.”

Rex thanked Angela for all of her help, and when they left the room, Angela looked at Xeik and Mia, telling them they were next.

Xeik walked in, and the first thing thing that Angela commented on, he rolled his eyes. “I would get some sleep, but Mia’s been a little…” He glanced over to her with a loving, tired smile. “Uh…a little more active lately. Though, she has slowed down considerably, thank the Gods…” He turned his attention back to Angela.

“I’ll definitely ask them for help…I wouldn’t dream of going into this without guidance,” Xeik said. At the mention of knowing what the baby was, though, Xeik froze.

“Uh…wait…tell me…” He paused. “No. Don’t tell me.” Xeik closed his eyes. “Yes. No. Uh….y-yes?”

Angela crossed her arms. “I’ll give you until the count of five. And then I’m going to tell you.”

Xeik threw his hands up. “I UHHHH….”

“Five.”

Xeik threw the door open, “LEWIS! WHAT DO I SAY? YES OR NO?”

“Four.”

Lewis walked into the room with a sigh. “What are you yelling about now?”

“Three.”

“WHAT DO I DO!? DO I WANT TO BE SURPRISED!?”

“Two.”

“What the hell is wrong with you, Xeik!?”

“One.”

Xeik threw his hands up again, “AHHH I DUNNO!?” At that, between the exhaustion and the panic, he fell over.

Lewis sighed, putting his head into his hand. “What…just happened?”

Angela laughed a bit, “They are her grandchildren and she is doing what any grandmother would do. I would make sure that my grandchildren were healthy too. I wouldn’t worry too much about it Rex. Be glad you have a loving mother like Simone to be so invested. I’m sure Lewis is just as excited for the next step in their journey. Since it is a journey I don’t think either of them thought they would ever get.”

“As for the babies, she does have a lot of them but she is fine. Anyone would be bruised after five strong little ones kicked your insides.”

Hazel giggled and took Rex’s hands. “They are alright though?”

“They are the most beautiful perfect babies I’ve seen this month. You both are so very blessed to have them.”

“I’m excited to meet them!”

“Well, soon you’ll be blaming Rex for it… So don’t get too excited. The birthing process is always the hardest for the men on the receiving end.” Angela was joking but she shook her head. “Rex, take good care of her alright?”

Once she was done with those two she went out to see Mia and Xeik. “Okay, you little shit. You next,” Angela gave him a loving smile.

“You are exhausted Xeik. You need to take better care of yourself. You have a baby due you know. Oh, I can tell what the baby is now if you want to know?” She looked up at Xeik and Mia.

Mia was squirming around and huffing but she was excited. She had waited for so long for Xeik to be ready and now he was! He was even excited. “This is going to be a lot of work the first few months. It’s a partnership. I would suggest asking Lewis and Simone for advice. They handle newborns quite well.”

It was Rex and Hazel next. The two entered the room and Angela got down to business. The first comment was how bright eyed Rex was, and he smiled and nodded. “Never felt better! I have SO much energy now. Like, almost too much. It’s a good thing we have an entire island! I’d go crazy if I didn’t have a way to let out all of this energy!” He looked to Hazel after she made her remark about the babies kicking too much. “I am worried about her, though…wolf pups in her belly? What if they hurt her too much?”

As always, the goddess had a solution close on hand, and Rex smiled. “Great! And yess, Miss Angela! She gets plenty of food! Sim-…er..Mom almost forces it down sometimes. She can get really scary when she does that…” The young man shuddered. “Really scary…”

Simone smiled up to Xeik, “We’re getting Lewis’s arm checked out today. It’s been a while since he broke it so hopefully, he can use it again… It would be nice.” Who knew what dirty thoughts were going through her head but it got a smirk from Lewis.

Angela came out of her office, “NOT SO FAST XEIK! I need to see Mia today too. Get her little lycanthrope ass here too. Also, Everett’s nose looks better that’s good. I thought I felt a disturbance when you portaled in. Shaya, did you hit Everett?”

“He deserved it!” Shaya threw her hands dramatically in the air.

“Well, I for one am glad you both are getting along again.” She patted their heads once each. Lucas came and got them once they were cleared.

In Angela’s room waiting was Vela and Drake, Hazel and Rex, and now Mia and Xeik. “What a full house I have! It warms my heart. Hazel and Rex you are first.”

Rex helped Hazel up and Angela brought them into the room. “Okay, Rex I see that you are looking bright-eyed and bushy-tailed this morning. Your energy is fine?”

Hazel laughed a bit, “He’s fine but these babies are kicking me too hard.”

Angela got up and got some paste. “Rub this on her belly at night. It should stop the bruising and help heal her a good bit. They all look so healthy and good! You are feeding you good… Right Rex?”

Xeik was walking by when he happened to see a group of familiar faces. He knew Angela was pretty booked today, and had finished up his own work in order to help lessen the load on her.

“Well, it’s Simone and the Terrowin family,” Xeik said with a happy smile. “Alshaya again?” he asked as he knelt down and did a once over on Everett’s nose. He looked at Alshaya’s hand next, and did a quick healing spell on that as well. “Now, now…Alshaya, you know you can’t go around punching your siblings. That’s not very nice.”

“You know what else isn’t nice, cheater?” Alshaya responded snarkily.

Xeik stood up and laughed, “Still the same spirited little girl…” He pulled out the paperwork he had. “Seems…Angela will be seeing you all again. If I finish in time, should we go out for dinner this evening? Mia’s been dying to get out of the house and her cravings are…a little much. I’m sure we can find something for her…”

Upon closer inspection, Lewis noticed that Xeik was definitely exhausted, but despite it all he was quite happy. “Sounds like a good idea. We haven’t left the island too much since the…incident. Might be good to get out.”

“No,” Simone smirked a bit. “We might have to go see her. Apparently, she is going to be busy with lots of others… You know we aren’t her only clientele but she loves us all the same. We can still take the kids with us though. You know you want to have them checked over just in case.”

Shaya got a look on her face before punching her brother across the face. “NO!”

“Shaya!” Simone looked at her with disbelief. “You can’t use your fists to do all your talking.”

“But Daddy does it!” Shaya whined.

Simone looked at Lewis to find the words.

Lewis looked at Simone before opening his mouth, “I use my daggers more but… Only when I have to. Your mother is a lot better at talking down people. You should be more like her.”

“SHE LIGHTS PEOPLE ON FIRE WHEN SHE’S HAD ENOUGH!” Shaya threw her hands up in the air.

“I do but only to protect you guys… Punching your brother in the face when he is egging you on is wrong.” Simone tried not to laugh in the resonance but she couldn’t help it. “Everett… Please get your stuff packed to see Angela… Your nose looks broken again.” Damn Shaya has a left hook.

There was a groan from him as he held a cloth to his nose before getting his stuff ready… “Alright let's go see Angela…” They stepped through the portal to a waiting room full of familiar people. “Not to step in line but… Shaya broke Everett’s nose… Xeik… Can you heal him?”

Rex was more than just proud of Hazel, he was also proud of himself and how much work he had done trying to get himself straight. He still wasn’t entirely sure where he was headed in life, but he at least knew that Hazel would support him in whatever endeavor he chose to pursue. For the time being, though, he found himself running all kinds of errands for Hazel now that she couldn’t do much work on her own. Between watering the new herb garden (with Simone’s help!) to mixing up new concoctions and wards and delivering them. Of course, Hazel inspected his work before he did it, but nine times out of ten he got them right.

Lewis sipped down some more cider after he finished his plate. “She’s coming today?” Helooked down at his arm, hoping today would be the day she told him he was good to go. He wanted to move it around and get some exercise. He may be a retired assassin, but that didn’t mean he wanted to lose his edge.

“Lucas, do you mind watching the older kids today? We can handle the younger ones while Angela is here.”

“No problem,” Lucas replied with a thumbs up. “Alshaya, we can research pets today! Maybe you’ll find a new pet we can adopt.”

Everett smirked. “Eyolf will just eat any other pet we get,” he teased Alshaya.

Simone felt the resonance and knew he liked this type of storm. She hoped all the crazy was done too. Who knew what the hell else they would get involved in but hopefully it wasn’t anything of that nature. “Yeah…”

She let out a playful groan as she took his hand. Their routine was full of love and laughter. Sometimes they yelled depending on what their youngest were doing. Roughhousing in the morning was normal but sometimes they actually fought.

Simone held Glyn and Janus in her arms. Lila was being a total daddy’s girl as she snuggled into him with no interest in playing just yet.

Once Alshaya figured out bacon came from pigs she started to cry, “But what if I wanted to love a pig…”

“Oh, we wouldn’t eat that pig sweetie…” Simone got a napkin and dried her tears. “That’s a pet.”

“It’s the same thing… Isn’t it?”

“No, there are animals you eat and animals you keep as pets. I think that your auntie Osiria said one of her relatives has a pig for a pet… He faints at the word bacon.”

“He’s dramatic…”

“Just like you,” Simone laughed and kissed her forehead.

“Lewis, you have an appointment with Lady Angela today… You too Hazel.” She looked at how big Hazel had gotten and how proud Rex seemed to be of her. “She’s got her handfuls today…”

In spite of the ‘calm before the storm’ warning, Lewis laughed. If that was the only ‘storm’ they had to weather, then he would gladly do it. After the last incident, he wanted nothing more than to actually be able to settle down and relax. He was really, REALLY hoping that nothing else crazy would happen. But, with that last attack, it seemed as though they really had put everyone down for good.

“Well…” he said as he sipped the cider. “We don’t have much longer before they wake up. Let’s enjoy this while we can…”

Surely enough, about ten minutes after his statement, they felt a pull in the resonance as the babies started to wake up. Lewis stood up and stretched, and then held out his hand to Simone, pulling her up. The two of them stepped through a portal, and immediately went about their morning routine of rallying the children. Before they knew it, they were all ready and assembled in the dining hall, with breakfast being served.

Everett this morning was asking how to make bacon. Not how to cook it, mind you, but how to actually make the bacon. He had started following Lucas into the library on a daily basis, asking for help on cooking books. The boy was definitely interested in the art, and the family was more than happy to support it.

Simone brought him a hot cup of cider and smirked at him. “Neither did I… but here we are.” She sipped on her tea and looked up at the sky. “We really have though…” Simone leaned into Lewis and smiled at up him. “Ever see yourself with thirteen kids? How about being married?” She chuckled a bit as she remembered younger Lewis. “Probably was the farthest thing from your mind.”

She wrapped a blanket around them and snuggled into him. “How’s your arm this morning Handsome? I can’t feel it hurting you… That’s a good sign.” It had taken a while to heal thanks to the twins sapping energy from her. They found it safer to feel semi-naturally.

“It certainly is peacefully before the storm…” She paused dramatically. “That is our only offsprings…” She whispered it and laughed a bit. “They are little demons. I feel bad for their future spouses…”

It was a strange time for Lewis. The sun was starting to rise over the island, and a calm wind was blowing across the fields. The grapes seemed to be growing well for the time being, mostly requiring watering for the time being. From what research he had done, it would take a full two years before they bore any fruit, and after that, well…

“No idea what I’ll do then,” he mused aloud, though Simone could always hear his thoughts. Things were so quiet now. His arm was healing up quite nicely, and Hazel was well along now. Rex was finally taking their advice, and asking for help from Kalina to build their new house on the opposite of the island, near where the old pirate’s cove used to be. Raile had since turned the cove into his own little storage area, which Lewis had found out was more or less where Vela and Drake dropped off the majority of their ‘too large to portal’ items. It was from there that Raile scheduled semi-regular shipments.

Lewis yawned, stretching as he sat back and watched the sunrise. He and Simone had set up a nice little bench, aimed perfectly to watch it whenever they so pleased. “I never thought we’d get to do this regularly,” he said. “I could get used to this peace…” And that was what it was. The quiet and calm. Peace. Never in his lifetime would he have guessed that he could live like this.

“We’ve come so far…”
