"You guys?  You mean, 'We have this in the bag,' considering it's your plan, and you have the most important part to play," Hiro said, correcting Attie.  He gave a thumbs up before taking her in his arms and flying off into the sky, followed by Kavan, who had introduced himself as Kythe's brother.  His Father never mentioned Kythe having siblings.  Anyway, this guy had wings of his own, so he was lucky for that, for when he dropped off Attie, and she stuffed an explosive primed rock into the Rhino's mouth, the explosion set her flying, and potentially falling to her death.  He was lucky this guy had wings, because Hiro couldn't get close enough in time to catch her.  He had to fight off spitting projectiles launched at him, and flying stalkers.  Hiro breathed a sigh of relief as he sliced a flying monster in half with his blade.

Finally getting in range of Kavan and Attie with his winged armor, Hiro saluted them.

"Good show you two, I couldn't get there in time to catch you, sorry about that.  But luckily you're okay, and it worked out all right.  Do you need more rocks–?"  Hiro was interrupted by another set of poisonous projectiles sent flying in their direction.  After some evasive maneuvering, Hiro aimed his palm at a group of spitting monsters that were shooting at them. "I'll show you something.  When you combine two elements together."  Hiro started focusing a combination of earth and fire mana together through his hand.  What would be a large mudball combined with a powerful fireball, turning into a large ball of molten rock.  "Fusion Element: Magma Ball; IGNITE!"  Hiro launched the Magma Ball toward the group of monstrosities, the powerful spell exploded against the first monster it hit, unleashing a wave of lava upon everything in range, burning and incinerating monsters in molten rock.  Hiro wiped the sweat that developed on his forehead.  "Takes a bit out of me, I have to get more effective in casting stuff like that."

He felt the flames behind him, and turned in time to see the creature flailing. With a snarl he called upon his own strength and punched the creature away from the small group that had gathered. "Thank you my heart, I knew you would have my back," the man smiled. He nodded to her, winked at his lover and looked at their new war companions - whatever they required of him, he would do what he could to protect them. These were his sister's people… he had not been there for most of Kythe's life, and he had in no way helped her… time to repay the debt he owed her, for the centuries of suffering she had gone through, and the absence in her life because of his own hot headed stupidity.

"Arelear will protect our backs and I will protect yours. My name is Kavan, Kythe is my sister," he stated simply, his crimson eyes taking a moment to search for his younger sister in the sky. As Hiro took off, so too did Kavan; his large, blood red Draconic wings spreading from his back. He cleared the path around them, calling upon vines from the earth to bind their enemies while he burnt them alive as Arelear had previously. It was an effective attack, and meant they could clear the way swiftly and with relative safety for themselves given it kept them out of immediate danger.

As Attie was dropped onto the Rhino's back he continued to keep the way clear, the last thing they needed was to become surrounded. Behind him, the Rhino roared and reared, throwing Attie from it's back. Immediately he sprang into action, turning and kicking off from the ground, he made one large, powerful sweep with his wings, launching at Attie. "Got you girl," he stated simply, grabbing Attie by the waist and pulling her into his embrace as he soared higher. "Good plan. You ready to target another one of those monsters with the same thing?"

Before the ranks broke through the shield to the field, Ethan took a moment to take in Isleen’s face again. A light trace of his knuckle ran down her nose as he smiled down at her. ”Take it easy, my dear. Don’t over do yourself. You know me though; I am certainly no hero.” Ethan placed a kiss upon her cheek at the same time of squeezing her arm lightly. With one last glance, the vampire turned to join the vanguard ranks. This was the last place that he wanted to be. The brute was anything but a team player. If it was for his family, than he figured to make this work in all of their favor.

From between his shoulder blades Ethan withdrew his sapphire sword from the sheath. The armor had been properly prepared for this particular battle. He needed to be swift at the same time well protected. Typically, Ethan was known for going into battle without any armor. This time was much different. Scores of demon creatures poured out of rifts in the sky that were beyond proper description. He was ill-pleased that Isleen was to be on the field of battle, but at least Teu and Alairia were going to remain in protection helping the injured.

Ethan had not had much of a chance to get to know Alairia or Dae since coming to Revaliir. It was only in recent times had they all come together after such an extensive separation. Isleen was keen on them becoming closer, and he would see it done. Considering everything, the vampire male was glad to see Teu as happy as she was. Sometimes it was difficult to imagine the woman being allowed happiness considering all she had endured in the past. It was well deserved.

”Focus,” he scolded himself. Hand gripped the hilt of his sword tightly just as the rest of the vanguard took off towards the enemy. One last glance was given towards Isleen and the ranged attackers before he focused completely to the task before him.

Instinct took over as the Nosse warriors crashed into the onslaught. Ethan knew that his blade was slashing into his enemy. He could smell the blood that filled the air. It was a foul stench overpowered his senses. This was the stench that he had been smelling from the blood of the potential victims of his in the city. They had been polluting Revaliir ever since the initial attack months ago. Ethan grit his teeth before he forced himself to breath through his mouth instead of his nose in an effort to not be completely overwhelmed.

The vampire found himself deep in the enemies ranks as he heard the blood curdling scream. His head whipped to the side quickly as he realized in belonged to Isleen. Everything pushed him to get to her even as he continued to look for her. More swings of his sword were made to push through his enemy to see that his mate had shifted only half-way in an effort to run across the plains. Ethan continued to make his way towards her as Isleen fell to the ground as she hit her head.

”No!” Blood covered the ground. It gave him the perfect weapon. Purposely made movements directed the blood to rise from the ground in forms of daggers. Another movement sent them flying to pierce his enemies for them to fall to the ground around him. In panicked running, Ethan made it to Isleen. Blood formed a protective barrier about them as he held her in his arms while kneeling on the ground. ”Isleen, what are you doing out here?! Why are you turned like this?” His hands were running through her hair as he tried to soothe her and check for head injuries. He couldn’t help but notice his love’s attention focusing in the distance. It was there that he saw Kiba laying dead in a heap. Ethan felt the blood in his veins freeze. In all his years, he had never cared in the least for Kiba. In fact, he had felt hatred. Not once had he hoped for the diowolf to die. Ethan held Isleen tighter as he knew that had to be what she had seen to send her into a frenzy.

The vampire picked up his mate as she slipped into a haze. Not caring for the others on the field, he sprinted back to take her to the care of Teu. It was easy to find the young woman with Alairia. ”Help her. She had a bad transformation.” Never had his voice sounded as frantic as it had right then.

Teu’s eyes were wide with panic as well as shock. The elf only allowed herself to worry for a moment before she began to work on his sister. It took much of her control to keep her fingers steady while examining what had happened. ”It looks like there are no extreme adverse effects of a wrongly gone transformation, but she took a rather difficult hit to her head. A moderate concussion in best case scenario.” Ethan watched as Teu gripped her sister’s arm lightly as if to settle herself. ”Ria come here and check out her mental status, my dear.”

Ethan reached out a hand to help guide his blind niece over to the table where Isleen lay. The blonde elf woman smiled up at her uncle that she had only recently met before placing her hands gently on the unconscious woman’s forehead. Mere moments paced before Ria pulled back with tears streaming down her face. ”Kiba is dead. Grandfather is dead, and Isleen watched it.” All was silent. Ethan leaned on the table to hover over his love. He looked up at Ria as she curled herself into Teu. Three women were mourning the loss of the family patriarch.

”Will she wake up?” His voice was curt as he could not change what had happened to the elder diowolf. Teu was quiet, though a slight nod was given in answer. ”Yes. She will wake. I think at this time it is due to her not wanting to. She will awaken though. We will have to keep an eye on her. There is no severe damage that Ria or I can sense. It will be when she is ready.”

(Me adding more cause I didn't realize that she already was dropped on the rhino. Sorry XD)

In a matter of moments, it was time. She felt herself falling through the air and she bent her knees so the landing would be easier. Attie managed to fall directly onto the monsters' neck. The Rhino opened its mouth to roar, Attie took this chance to shove the stone down its throat. Before the rock left her hand, she caste the explosion spell on it. The Rhino raised up and tossed her off its back before it exploded into pieces. Attie was sent flying into the air, trying to find a way to stop herself from crashing or falling onto a monster. Bits and pieces of the Rhino were flying through the air. The only thing that remained intact was the Rhino's hooves, still on the ground. Attie was falling downwards, towards a horde of monsters.

"Fuuuuuuudge." Attie muttered, "I should have thought this through!"

Author: Attie, Posted: Wed Oct 16, 2019 2:07 PM, Post Subject: Call to Arms [Open; Event; Nosse Guild]

They landed and Attie focused some of her energy on the rock. She didn't want to cause an explosion yet but she couldn't waist too much time with her explosion spell. So she just warmed it up a little which would make it easier to cast on in the future. Attie listened to Hiro explaining that he was going to try brute force but he wanted to see how her plan went. With these words, Attie knew she could afford to fail. Suddenly, a stranger approached them. He was offering to help them get to the rhino and Attie nodded to him. She was glad that Hiro wouldn't have to worry about both flying and fighting.

"Yeah this is the rock that's gonna help us." She replied to Hiro before turning to Kavan, "Thanks! I'm Attie-"

An explosion hit a transforming monster that was creeping up behind Kavan. Attie didn't have much time to prepare for the blast but Hiro had thrown his cloak over the both of them, protecting them from the blast. Once Hiro lifted his cloak, Attie could see her friend Arelear. Attie was delighted to see her friend, even if it was on one of the harshest battlefields in all of Revaliir. She gave her friend a wave.

"Hi Arelear! " She said before looking to both Kavan and Arelear, "We're gonna be relying on you two. But don't worry, I believe in the both of you. You guys got this in the bag!"

She didn't actually know what, got this in the bag, meant but she had heard it used in an encouraging way, so she assumed it was a nice phrase. Looking to Hiro, she nodded indicating that she was ready for their Rhino attack. When they soared to the sky, Attie was careful to keep an eye out for any monsters. There were some Plaguers and Chompers on the ground who were following them and a few Stalkers were flying towards them. But Hiro needed to focus on dropping her on the neck of the Rhino. If he was even just a little bit off, Attie would be dead.

"Don't focus on the monsters. Just focus on the Rhino." Attie reminded him.

As they were flying through the air on Hiro's wings, Attie gave a gleeful cheer.  It was unexpected, but she was enjoying the lift he gave her, soaring through the air like a bird.  They landed on the ground, she was fine and uninjured.  She had a plan, which seemed solid enough.  Hopefully it would work.  It was probably better than what Hiro was thinking, attempting to find a chink in its armor, and blasting it with enough elemental magic to level a city block.

"All right, we'll go with your idea, Attie.  I was gonna try brute force, but let's see how your finesse does.  I assume you're gonna cast some explosion spell on that rock?"  A man (Kavan) came up to them, saying he would open a path towards the Rhino.  "Much appreciated, good sir, the name is Hiro Kouen, and you are– watch out!"  An explosion rocked from behind the man, an exploding arrow flew through the air and struck a transforming monster that had appeared from behind Kavan, blowing it to smithereens.  Hiro threw his phoenix cloak over his two new comrades to protect them from the blast instinctively.  The cloak was fire resistant, so any bits of flaming debris bounced off it harmlessly.  "Everyone okay?  That was a close one."

The woman
who launched the arrow that slew the Chomper came up to them, saying she would also protect them from flying threats.  "Much obliged, ma'am.  Now, when you're ready, Attie, let's get your plan going."  Hiro's cloak shimmered and melded into his armor, turning back into his phoenix wings.  He lifted Attie up again carefully, bending his knees, and taking off into the sky once more.

Dodging enemies and projectiles flying through the air, they approached the Rhino, he followed any instructions he gave her, and when she was ready, he dropped her toward the Rhino, hoping she would be safe, and that her plan would work.

"Go for it!"

Isleen’s gaze shifted to a dark crimson color as she watched arrows scatter across the sky, plunging into the Plaugers before they could get too close to the first line of troops. The necromancer looked over at the groups of mages. “Wall!” she called out. Then she looked back to the field. Shortly several walls of earth and rock erupted from the ground to slow down those that made it past the arrows. The wolf dug her fingers deeper into the soil and opened her connection to the ley line. More rough magic rushed into her causing her to flinch and whine a little. Her eyes clenched shut as the current evened out a little. She looked forward again and reinforced the arch protection spell.

The dark haired girl released the line and braced herself against the ground. The wolf closed her eyes and focused on evening her panting. She did not want to appear weak but this was a lot to ask of her all at once. Isleen would not sit despite the fatigue that threatened to sink in. She rose to her feet and wiped the sweat from her face. She looked to the sky to see the dragons doing their part. Then she looked to the field. Isleen scanned several lines of people, searching for Ethan. Her stomach tightened with anxiety. Finally, she found him and let out a sigh of relief. He looked effortless out there. With a grin, she considered tapping a line again and helping him but she did not want to interrupt his death dance.

It was not hard to spot her father given his bright, beautiful armor. He was even more magnificent than Ethan due to his sheer might. Watching him gave her strength. She knelt down again and prepared to take in more magic. However, then the unthinkable happened. Limbs of a creature emerged and snatched him up before she had a moment to comprehend it. Her eyes widened as Kiba’s sword failed to free him. She watched his neck snap and heart become pierced within seconds, though it felt like an eternity. A blood curdling sound tore through her throat, caught somewhere between a pained scream and an angry growl. She collapsed forward, reaching out for him. Before she could think, she was shifting and running towards him - two things that did not mix for the hybrid. Isleen’s skin was randomly covered with rust colored fur. Her feet had shifted into her hind paws, cutting through the boots. Her face had animalistic features but not fully transformed. She skid down the cliff they had crafted for the ranged attackers as it was faster than running. She tired to get to him but suddenly her legs gave out and she fell to the ground. Isleen’s head slammed against the ground and her eyes rolled to the back of her head.

“Push, keep going!” The smell of blood and sweat filled the air but all that was forgotten as the sound of brand new lungs starting crying for the first time. Happy tears erupted from everyone but the midwife who was now cleaning the babe. The baby was then placed in its mother’s arms. Teu never looked more radiant or at peace.

Isleen woke in a haze, unsure of where she was or how she got there. She did recognize Teu in one of her moments of consciousness. The younger sister tried to reach out but fell back into a sleepy haze.

Battles were an ever heated thing, weren’t they? This was the makings of a story, the kind Bards sung about in taverns.

The chaos upon the field was making itself more evident, and for every Plaguer that the archers took down, it seemed more monsters took their place in alarming numbers. For a woman who made sure to live life as it came, the challenge was raising a fiery passionate part of Arelear’s personality that soon swept away the sulky drear of lacking her bright colors and delicate clothes.

All around, the screams of the battlefield resounded at an alarming pace. The archers huffed as arrow after arrow was loosed, and while shooting the bow was certainly nothing she was stranger to, seeing the people around her struggle to find their aim was at once inspiring and discouraging. Some of the archers were extremely experienced! Some, less so. However, for all their struggles, they weren’t giving up and that was where the inspiration came from – the will of others to not stand down.

Today was to be a fine story, wasn’t it?! Ah yes. A fine story indeed.

Arelear found a break in the arrows she needed to fire for a brief moment, long enough for her to scan the battlefield. Her eyes lit first on Kavan’s form, and while worry took her heart, she knew him to be far more capable than she herself and besides, was that not why they refused to say farewell upon the battlefield?

No, the problem that raised a tremendous amount of ill feeling was seeing Attie on the field. While she knew her lover to be a phenomenal fighter – and frankly was doing her best not to run to his side in a passionate fit of fiery protectiveness such as the firelion she was named for might, she had yet to see something that indicated the young girl was accustomed to combat in any way. While the mage had attached herself to someone else who clearly had skills, it still was difficult to separate her mind from ‘hers’ and what needed to be ‘protected’. A challenge for her was not a big deal. Life or death for another? VERY different. Of course, it helped even less when the Rhino began rampaging through!

Notching an arrow wasn’t going to be fast enough, nor nearly as effective. Swearing to herself, she reached for the elemental arrows on her back that were so close to the normal ones. Adrenaline began pumping as she readied what was ultimately going to be a useless attack when she saw her friend take to the air. This paused her in her tracks, stalling the urge to run forward and break ranks. She found herself sighing in relief, halfway between archers and where her people were at and froze. Someone near Kavan was moving oddly, starting to split down the middle in grotesque ways that terrified her to the core. Kavan’s back was to it and this creature had somehow managed to hide. Taking aim instead at the creature, praying she wasn’t wrong, she let the arrow loose. The creature – something she readily identified as a Chomper now – screeched in its inhumanly grotesque way. As the body burst into flames from her arrow, she shouted ”CAREFUL, KAVAN!”

She then looked up at Attie and the man she had yet to identify, hefted her bow and said, ”I will cover you! Nothing in the air shall touch you!”

Besides, Arelear always had the backup of her own fire magic if worse came worse. One way or another, she'd shoot the dangers from the sky.

Meanwhile, her wolf had stayed with the arrows she had amassed before growling, turning his nose around them. If there had been one sleeper agent in the crowd, there might be more and HE would be able to sniff it out. A glance between wolf and woman and the familiar was soon stalking around the archers, sniffing and scouting to see if anything else had the smell of the Void.

War.

He had hoped that he had left all of that behind, after the atrocities that he and his kin had created on their own world, Kavan had hoped to make amends for the past, to redeem himself for the lives he had taken unjustly… he had suffered for his sins in the afterlife, but since he had been given his life back he had hoped to find forgiveness in a life better lived. Arelear had helped with that; he had started to feel as though he had a new purpose to this second life he had been gifted, he could contain his rage and learn to be a better person.
And then she had arrived. He had barely recognised his little sister, older now and bearing her years. She had spent more time without him in her life, than with him. She was not the woman she had been when their kin had been slaughtered, and he had been glad to see that she was alive, even if the pain and suffering in her eyes broke his heart. The only reason he had known it to be Kythe was her scent - for the woman no longer bore a resemblance to the 'child' he had left behind in his demise. No longer the blonde haired, blue eyed innocent with pure white wings - the only truly recognisable things had been her marking on the left half of her face, and her scent.
He had been glad to find her, though their reunion had been somewhat strained given the time that had passed between them. Kythe had lived for millennia on her own, the last of the Minadrias, carrying the weight of their race's sins upon her shoulders alongside a prophecy she had never asked to have put upon her. She had loved and lost countless times, and he had missed all of it… in truth Kavan would not have blamed her if she had run him through with her blade, but his sister was a better person, she valued family above all else and had welcomed him and Arelear into her's with open arms… even though she didn't know either of them.

It had been Arelear that had encouraged him to take up arms alongside his sister; she had offered them a place within her Guild, giving them the option to align themselves with her values and become an official part of the family she was creating. They had said no, for the moment, but had promised to consider it. He had sent Tali away; the songbird did not need to be involved in this, and there would be enough death on the battlefield without his companion adding to their numbers. It had taken him some time to convince his lover that her bright red feathers would not serve her well in the field, Ranger or otherwise she would attract the attention of the enemy with flashes of such colour, he had relented to the one in her hair… he'd won the war, she could win that battle.

They had not said goodbye, his free spirited love did not believe in such things, and even he had come to believe that it would only tempt fate. His heart raced within his chest, hands balling into fists as he sprinted into battle, ducking and dodging through their enemies, gathering his magic within himself, forcing his natural rage to subside. His red eyes glanced upwards at the sight of his sister - there, another surprise, for she had inherited the power of the Triad at some point… how much he had missed in his time in the afterlife, how much he still did not know of who she was now… No matter, there was time yet, and he would repay his debt to her and bring her solace anyway that he could… starting with protecting her Guild. He found himself beside Hiro and Attie, catching their conversation. "You two worry about getting to that Rhino, I will worry about the monsters that stand between you and it."

Attie felt glad that she had an alley on the battlefield. It was much easier for her to perform her attacks when she knew she had somebody watching her back. She noticed that his sword had flames surrounding it. After the battle she would ask him about it, as she had never seen a fire sword like that. However, she had seen a weapon like that. A weapon that she left in a safe place and had not thought to bring it into battle. She realized that next time, she would bring it to fight with. Especially since her flame scythe would be able to save her some mana.

"No prob!" She called out to Hiro

Attie looked to the ground, confused as to why it was shaking so violently. Before she could look up, she was being flown into the air by Hiro. It was only when they were safe above the Rhino that she realized that it was the cause of the ground shaking. Attie looked around with glee, as she hadn't been able to fly without some sort of transformation spell. This was the first time she was flown through the air instead of carrying others on her back.

"Weeeee!" She said with joy.

Even if they were in battle, she was determined to keep a cheery attitude. Hiro explained himself then looked around for a safe place to land. But Attie had a little plan forming inside her mind. She reached into her bag and pulled out a medium sized stone.

"Just one idea." Attie said with a smirk, "I'm gonna need you to drop me on the Rhino. Specifically near its neck. I can make this rock explode but with his tough armor, its going to be hard to crack it. But he roars a lot and if I can shove the rock down his throat, then he will be exploding from the inside out. But I'll need you to keep other monsters off my back while I do this. I know its dangerous but its either this or let the Rhino pulverize the soldiers."

Attie wasn't kidding about the pulverizing. The Rhino was heading directly towards their guild soldiers and the last thing she wanted was for them to get squashed.

Hiro smiled at the young girl.  She introduced herself as Attie, and said she would stick with him.  "All right, I have no problem with that.  Watch my back, and I'll watch yours."  Hiro kept note of how she was performing in the battle, fighting with a whip, and with fire spells.  Was she a pyromancer too of some kind?  Or was that just the most effective type of spell she could use for the situation?

Questions for later.

Hiro thought he sensed some movement coming from behind him, and from the left.  Hiro swung around and slashed through one Infester, followed by a second one, (on Attie's prompting) using consecrated flames on his sword, Empyrean, to power up his blows.

"Thanks, Attie!"  Hiro unleashed a flood of flame from his sword, providing a longer distance attack, on more enemies that were approaching them.  They burned and were incinerated into ash.

Suddenly, the ground started shaking violently.

"What the hell is that?"  Hiro looked around to see what was causing the ground to quake.  What it iwas, it was getting closer until Hiro saw it.  "Oh shit!"

It was as big as a house.  A huge monstrosity composed of many bodies, surrounded by chitinous armor.  It shook the ground as it rampaged across the battlefield, sending allies flying through the air just by running through them.  He and Attie was directly in its path.  He quickly focused his magical strength into his legs, and into his back, through his armor, summoning a set of fiery, crimson feathered wings.  He quickly swept his arm around Attie, and pushed off from the ground, speeding the two of them right out of the way of the speeding Rhino.

"Sorry, you okay?  Didn't get a chance to explain what I was about to do.  I have winged armor, as you can see," Hiro said, apologetically from potentially scaring his new found ally.  "I'll have to find us a safer spot to touch down, maybe farther back . . . " Hiro looked down at the Rhino, as it continued to rampage through the front ranks of the allied army.  "We're gonna have to do something about this thing though.  That carapace is probably going to shrug off any fire I throw at it.  Any ideas?"

Chaos.

Life was apparently chaos and Arelear found herself taking a moment to briefly ponder it.

How she’d gone from being a free bird to someone who had to divest her scarlet feathers in order to wear the browns of the average ranger leather? It was a battle Kavan had won when they received word and the call to arms to defend their world. He had even won on most of her colorful scarves, pointing out that on the field, it was harder to hide as she normally did amongst the trees. The only exception was the one that held her hair tightly back behind her head to keep it out of the way, flashing small bits of red from between the darker brown of her hair. In a way, Arelear felt like a play actor on a battlefield where others were moving the pieces. It was something that strained her free born heart, but as her fingers spread across the bow in her hands – a generous gift from Kythe that she still had no idea how to accept or hold – she’d probably have ran into the trees.

However, she didn’t and she wouldn’t.   With the single gift, Kythe had portrayed gratitude and honor towards Arelear – something that woman had never owed her. Instead, Rel had become part of a greater family and it was odd how she’d gone from considering what it’d be like to put down roots to actually having done the equivalent of it.

Shrugging herself from her thoughts, she found herself glancing at the people coming and going to their varying ranks – a multitude of people she had yet to fully learn the names or stories of, which was something she’d need to fix later when things weren’t so kill worthy.  As Kythe took to the sky and Kiba shouted orders, Arelear found her way towards the archers with her wolf by her side, making sure to drop as many extra arrows nearby as she could. Raising the beloved bow she’d been gifted that was filled with so many conflicting thoughts as Blaze provided guard for her upon the ground, the woman notched her own bow and when the command came, loosed the first of many arrows. The first of the creatures rose up, causing a shudder to shake through her body of repulsion before she grunted. These abominations did not belong here. It wasn’t long before the first arrow was loosed from her bow with a resounding twang.

One after another, creatures began to fall. It wasn’t long before the droll thoughts of what caused conflict from within faded away to something more intoxicating. How many could she take down?

Chaos had become a challenge! Ah yes, and she’d rise to it.

….then demand her scarfs back from Kavan later. Her lips cracked into a faint smile.

There were no other words that Kiba could find as he stood there just within the shield that protected the encampment. Kaya stood at his side, where he had an arm slid around her waist. His white armor reflected in the soft sun light, which only made him cringe internally. This armor was to only be used in dire situations. Here he was wearing it. Kiba looked down at Kaya before placing a kiss on the side of her head. He inhaled the scent of her from her hair. There was much standing in their way, but now he was not going to allow it to take any of their future from them. He knew this to be true.

The diowolf looked over at Dae. The young man stood in his white leather armor with the hood down for the first time in a while. Kiba was still uncertain of his grandson taking on the art of assassination for a trade. Even if he was unsettled by the concept, it was not for him to decide. Dae was now old enough (in concept) to make his own decisions. What did help the grandfather was that his grandson took jobs that were to benefit those in need. Even so, there was to be a further conversation on all of this. Yes, they would talk in the future. They would have a future. All of them.

Kythe approached to give her final instructions before taking to the skies with the other dragons. He merely nodded in response along with a light smile. It was difficult to send any soldier in to battle under direction, but even more difficult when they were family. The diowolf understood that considering he had had to do it before. He returned Kythe’s hug before she left.

It was then that Kiba turned to Kaya to look at her straight on. With armored hands he cupped the sides of her neck. Forehead rested against her’s as if he was making sure to take in every bit of her features. ”No risks to be taken. That’s an order from your mother and myself.” His tone had a hint of joking in it, though he was completely serious. Kiba placed soft kisses upon her lips, cheeks, and anywhere he could find a place.

When he felt he was ready to lead the charge across the shield he looked over to see that Raith had stopped to say his good-byes to Alairia. Ria was clutching to the man as tightly as possible while burying her face into his chest. She would not hold him back from going, but it was her dearest wish to be able to join him. A heat radiated down the woman’s chest at the passion of her love’s kiss. When they parted, she held back the tears that threatened to spill down her cheeks. ”I will stay in the camp. There will be much work to do here.” Her delicate fingers traced the line of his strong jaw down his neck and chest until they rested over his heart. ”I love you, Raith. Now and forever. Be smart and swift. Show them no mercy for what they dare try to take away from us.”

Kiba smiled at how the relationship had transformed between the pair. The diowolf inhaled one last time before calling forth the armor to cover his features. Brilliant white armor covered his entire body that was decorated in accents of gold. In the helm there were golden slits where his eyes could see out into the world before him. Kiba was ready to go to war again.

Sword was drawn from its sheathe. In a swift motion, the diowolf bolted through the barrier into battle. He could not look back at what was behind him. He couldn’t think about what was going to wait for him when the war was over. The Void that could take over the entire planet that they had called home. No. What he had to do was think about each move to be made in the moment. Even if his entire family was within this fight. Even if there were those he could not dare to think about surrounded by the enemy.

The vanguard leader swung with strength that had not been needed for a time in order to cleave a chomper in half. In the moment that it saw its death, it saw its own fear reflected on Kiba’s helm. On he moved through the newest wave of enemies. His white armor becoming stained with the fluids of his enemies. From time to time he felt the reverberation of a blow hitting his armor. There were a few times Kiba thanked Lokir repeatedly for the strength put into the creation of his gift.

Plaugers were a short distance away; Kiba did not have to see them to know. Their stench was enough to tell him. He saw that they were lumbering their way towards the right flank. A signal was sent up to mark where he needed the rangers to attack. He was sure that Isleen would protect them from that particular attack. Still, he kept an eye out while directing his warriors away from that direction. Magic and ranged attacks were the most effective against those.

Before Attie could even process what was happening, a giant centipede monster had popped out of the ground and was coming at her. But another person came and slammed his shoulder into the centipede. Slightly embarrassed that she had made such an error, she grabbed onto her whip to have a weapon and ensure it would happen again. The last thing she needed was to be responsible for an ally's death. If there was going to be a death, it would be hers. And she would make it a lot more epic than just being taken out by an over-sized bug!

"I'm fine!" Attie said with a smile, "Thanks for the save. My name is Attie and I guess you're the person I'm gonna stick to!"

He was nearby and it was convenient to have somebody watching her back. Attie raised up her whip and cracked it at one of the incoming monsters, the tail wrapping around it and trapping it. A burning sensation was building up in her mouth. Flames erupted from her mouth, directly at the beast who she had snared with her whip. The monster burnt to ashes and Attie moved onto the next one. She was using her whip and flames as a way to catch and kill each monsters. But it was her speed and stength that allowed her to pull it off. She was using her bear strength to help take these beasts out.

"On your left Hiro!" She shouted, seeing an Infestor sneaking up to Hiro, "Don't let it bite you!"

Hiro had prepared himself for the battle to come by mentally fortifying himself, and studying what was known about the enemies they were going to fight.  The Twisted were amalgams of flesh and insects.  Hiro now stood at the front lines, looking over the battlefield, at the disgusting creatures he was going to fight.  There were creepy crawlies made of bodies, there were spiders made of flesh and body parts, spitters shooting toxic and poison gas and fluids, and even ones that could pretend to be humans.  Nothing could have prepared him for this.  There was only one choice.

Attack.

Hiro charged into battle, stepping through a blue circle of arch protection that was cast by an allied mage.  He drew Empyrean from it's sheath and sliced through the stomach of a Corrupted foot solider, before moving to the next, and then the next, consecrated flames erupting from the blade as he carved a path of fiery destruction through the battlefield.  There was a young woman with short black hair shooting fire at some of the Plaguers that were spitting toxic goo at them.  Hiro noticed the ground beneath the girl was starting to shake and crumble.  A Centipede erupted from the ground near the girl.  Hiro flew forward by charging mana through his legs and propelling himself forward.  He slammed his shoulder into the Centipede and pushed it out of the way.  The many-limbed monster reared back, it's red eyes glowing in its skull glowing, before diving off.  He considered pursuing it, but decided to check on the girl instead.  More monsters could make their way through that hole if he wasn't careful.

Hiro turned to the young girl.  "Are you all right?  That was a close call, gotta watch your feet.  The name is Hiro Kouen.  You should probably stick together with someone if you're not adapt in melee combat," he smiled warmly at her.  He turned away, and slashed through another monster that approached him from behind.  He had to be careful himself.  They were everywhere.

Attie looked for somebody to talk to during her ten minutes but couldn't find anybody. The guild was nice but sometimes it felt as though she was outside looking in. She had come to realize that a large majority of the guild were already friends or were close friends. Finding a place to insert herself was difficult. The thought of going into battle with strangers was both a comfort and a worry. At one point, she would never have to worry about mourning a loved one dying in battle. But at the same time, if she died, there would be nobody to mourn her. Did anybody here even know her name? Though that was mostly her own fault. She was the one who wasn't friendly enough. Attie didn't socialize enough and simply was too new to have a deep connection with anybody. It wasn't anybody else's fault but her own.

But that was no reason to not smile! A depressed face was all it took to lower people's confidences. She needed to be happy and to not worry about those unpleasant thoughts. Attie smiled and began to walk towards the rest of the group who was gathering to their own lines. Besides even if they weren't close, the guild was always nice to everybody so she would do her best to make them feel safe and protected. Attie had decided to join the front lines as she was better at using magic in close combat than ranged. And if anybody needed a potion then she would be able to quickly toss it to them. Soon the battle had started.

A blue magical energy ran through the battlefield before creating a large circle of arch protection. Attie gripped her hand on the whip on her belt as she began to run in front of the group along with a few other mages who had chosen to be on the front lines. Her eyes focused on the illuminated Plaguer. The Plaguers, she remembered them as she had fought with them before on another front. Attie held out her hands and a column of flames shot out, burning a Plaguer to a crisp. She was far enough that the Plaguer wasn't spitting at her but was close enough for the flames to incinerate it.  Attie was relying on the archers to take out most of the Plaguers but she had her flames ready in case they didn't. The fight was just beginning.

Once. One other time in Isleen’s life had she gone to war that personally involved her family. Somehow, this felt different and perhaps more important. This time, she had family all around her and it was about saving all of them. She had just found them; the wolf couldn’t bare to lose anyone. The girl would always be patron of death and darkness but just this once, she asked both to stay at bay. She prayed for life and strength instead, not knowing those deities by name but confident they must exist. She thought of her life with Ethan and all that they still had before them. For perhaps the first time, she thought of a formal wedding. The declaration of being each other’s had been enough before. She didn’t need witnesses and vows to make their commitment any more real or important. And yet, something about saying it the world caused her to smile for just a moment.

She looked up at him and nodded at his orders. In any other situation, Isleen certainly would’ve given him a hard time for thinking he could tell her what to do. “I know,” she replied softly, putting her hands upon his. She forced a smile. “I can do this – we can do this. Don’t be a hero, come back to me,” she added with a more stern tone. Accountability went both ways with this pair.

Isleen’s attention shifted to Kythe as she approached. The wolf put an arm around their leader with a smile. She breathed deeply, wishing to remember this moment and the Minidrian’s scent. “Of course,” Isleen answered, cheeks flush from the vulnerable moment. “You’ll keep those boys in line, won’t you?” The wolf added with a chuckle. Kythe left to finish making her rounds. Isleen looked back at Ethan and felt the color drain from her face. She could feel the hesitation between them. She was the one that made them come - and it was she that demanded she be useful. This meant if something happened to one of them, it was ultimately her fault. She flinched slightly at the sudden uproar. So it was less obvious, she leaned up and took a last kiss from her love. “See you soon,” she promised against his lips before peeling herself away from his form.

“Ranged units, let’s go!” she called out as the signal of colored sparks danced across the sky. The wolf began jogging towards the front of the team she would be with. Isleen was certainly not a commander but until someone else stepped up to direct them, the vampire would step in. She put a hand in the air and motioned for them to go forward. It took every fiber in her being not to turn around and look at her loved ones one more time. You are the Unfading Star - Watch their backs on the field, Isleen Amara, she thought to herself.

The rangers naturally fell into place while mages divided themselves into groups based on their specialty. She planted herself somewhere in the middle, prepared to go back and forth. The dragons had taken to the sky and new creatures had broken through the cracks in the planes. “This is what we trained for, this is why we’re here - Attack!” she bellowed. Then the wolf kneeled down and felt for a ley line. The moment she connected with the magical current, bright sigils shone on her exposed skin. Her breath caught from the sheer force of energy she was channeling. Her knuckles were white as she gripped the earth, breaking through any roots in her way. She looked forward to the guild members below that were now racing on the ground. “Grom crios,” she growled. Blue energy danced across the battlefield before enclosing on itself as a large circle of arch protection. Then her gaze went to a few of the monsters that were moving quicker than the rest. “Claíomh Solais,” she shouted, sending bright bursts of light to help illuminate them as targets.

“Plaugers! Do not let them get close to our comrades. They’ll spit poison and emit toxic gas!” the dark haired girl shouted.

Author: Raith, Posted: Sun Oct 6, 2019 11:50 AM, Post Subject: Call to Arms [Open; Event; Nosse Guild]

His being here was inevitable. He did not particularly care about protecting Revaliir, not as such, but this was Alairia's home, or at least it had become such after the Void had devoured DaeLuin. Was it the same beings that had taken his birthworld, that had come to take this place too? Whatever it was, whoever it was, he would not allow them to take this place as well, not so long as there was breath in his body. He would not allow this world to be destroyed, not now that he had a reason for living in it, not when he had a reason to ensure it's survival… and it would always be her.
Raith had spoken with Dae; letting his friend know that he would be better utilised in the air in his Draconic form for the majority of the time, he had, of course, asked Dae to ensure that Alairia was safe while he was absent… as though he really needed to ask such a thing of the man. There was something he needed to do first. With Silence helping him navigate the crowds of people quickly, he found his way to the very edge of Nosse's encampment. He moved further away from them before kneeling and putting his hand to the ground, head cocking to one side as he 'listened'. Good… there were plenty buried here.
"I call upon the dead who lay here, rise up and answer to my command, I invoke you, rise and stand as my army, find your way out of your graves, I command you," he snarled, fingers digging into the earth as he felt the first stirrings of the dead clawing their way up, out of their graves as his order. Smiling to himself, the blind man turned away, they would come, soon, and he would reek havoc upon the creatures that dared to threaten the peace and harmony he was trying to build for his beloved Alairia.

Alairia… he had to find her, had to hold her before he took to the sky to defend her. Striding back into the encampment he found his way to his lover swiftly, taking her into his arms and holding her tightly, kissing her passionately. "Stay safe, do nothing rash, and don't run onto the battlefield," he said, sternly and with a somewhat exasperated tone as though he expected her not to listen… which in a way he did. "I love you, I will come back to you. I will leave Silence with you, should you need me, or Dae, send him for us," he kissed her once more and left her side swiftly, he knew that if he lingered for too much longer, he would not be able to pull himself away from her, and he had to do this to lkeep her safe.
With Silence's eyes, Raith saw his mother transform, and he swiftly shed his clothes to do the same. This would be the first time he and his mother had fought, side by side, it was an odd feeling, something that he had not quite got his head around yet, but he knew that it was necessary. Spreading his wings wide, Raith took off into the air, following his mother's scent and falling slightly behind her, listening to the powerful sweep of her wings. In the back of his mind, something niggled at him, that this was what he had wanted most in his life - to be in the air with his mother, soaring high above the clouds… any other circumstance he might have taken the time to reflect on that, but now was not the time. He heard his mother's speech and added his war cry alongside her and Valandil.

Suddenly he heard the roar of something else, something answering their confident challenge. Silence showed him the oncoming storm of enemies… good…. let them try. Another roar escaped his throat and the dead rose from the ground, tearing their way out from the earth and clawing at those rushing to kill them. Their skeletal hands grasped at the limbs of their foul things the Void had spat out at them, felling some and swarming them with further boney bodies. At least his undead would slow them down. With a snarl the smallest of the three Dragons began to dive, opening his maw the moment he was above their enemy and letting out a devastating breath of flame at the monstrosities below, his tail whipping out at those that may have got out of the way in time, flicking them across the plains. He would see them ended here.

Hiro double checked his equipment.  His crimson armor was cleaned off and polished, and his sword, Empyrean, was sharpened and ready for action.  He had a couple other weapons stored away, ready to be summoned at a moment's notice.  He checked and double checked everything.  It was ready for the fight to come.  But was he ready for the fight?  He had wished his father was here to fight at his side, but he was no longer with the living.  However, he wasn't alone.  He had Aunt Kythe, Uncle Blaze, and these new guild members in Nosse, which he had just joined on the urging of Kythe.  A guild to protect that which must be protected.  Well, now they were fighting to protect each other, and those who could not fight.  They were fighting to protect this world.  The insects of madness, lead by Eldritch beings of power.  His father had fought creatures such as these in his world.

Now it was his turn.

He had his companions, he had his guild.  He trained all his life to fight against evil, world-eaters, and the like.  Now he would prove his training was not in vain.

He made his way to the group listening to Kiba and Kythe make their speeches.  He cheered at the end.

"Hell yeah!"

This was his time to shine.  The lad stood there in his crimson armor, fist pumping in the air.

It was time to shine.

The vampire was keeping his distance the best he could while within the encampment. Nosse was now a formal gathering that had those mostly of the Family that he had done his best to stay away from. Now, they were all together in a shielded location. The only way to remove himself from the awkward cluster was to leave the shield and go to war. Ethan contemplated this many times, but knew that he would not until Isleen was ready. His crimson gaze followed his mate as she made her path through the tents. Hand clenched into tight fists at his side as he recalled the lost arguments in regards to her going onto the field of battle. It had been odd enough for Ethan to meet Kiba once again, but to agree with him as well was almost too much for the vampire to take.

Standing off to the side, Ethan waited for Isleen to speak to the family as they prepared for the field. He thought about the reunion that had happened not only for his lover…but also himself. There had been whispers of the Family over the time since his arrival. Ones that he had ignored as he had dared not believe if possible they escaped the horrific Void. As time had gone by the whispers had become more reality. To know that Teu and her children had survived had been beyond any hope you could have ever had. Even knowing that they were alive, Ethan had kept his distance. They were better off without him. Any news that he could bribe out of people, he did. When Alairia had been found to be blinded due to torture it had nearly broken the vampire.

Now, they were all reunited. Ethan and Teu’s reunion had been a quiet affair. One filled with silent embraces. He had been able to meet the children as now they had grown into full adults. It was odd to see them in such a state, but there was no denying the magic that had effected them from the god Raktor during the transference.

Arms were crossed over his muscled and armored chest as he heard the two girls bid farewell to one another for the time being. He could see the sorrow in Teu’s eyes as she followed the back of her sister. Ethan’s crimson gaze met with Teu’s from across the distance. The pair managed to smile at each other before the healer went back to her work. He knew that she could not shoulder the anxiety of potentially losing her family out on the battle field. Instead, Teu would throw herself into her work.

Kiba spoke out to the crowd of guild members that had amassed. Ethan was not one of the little followers, but he was there for Isleen….that was all that mattered to him. When Isleen made her way back to him, it took no time for each to hug the other close. The male rested his forehead against her’s all while taking in her scent. Hands lifted to cup each side of her face, feeling the fear coming off of her slightly. ”You will hang back with the archers. We need ranged support against some of these things. Keep a healthy distance,” he ordered. This was not going to be up for discussion as he was already conceding that she would be on the battle field at all. ”I will be up in the vanguard with Kiba. What we need is for eyes keeping an eye out for ‘Plaugers.’ Apparently these creatures are easy to spot since they are bloated and grotesque. They spew poison as well as noxious gas. We have been warned to keep at a distance; they can be taken down with magic. Direct people to take those down as quickly as possible.”

An ache was pitted in his stomach at the thought of giving directions for war to his mate. They should have stayed in bed.

His hold on her face released as Kythe approached the pair to wish them both luck. Muscles stiffened as she gave him a hug. He felt no closeness with the woman, but he would not deny if Isleen wanted to have another family member to call her own. He arched a brow at her as she told them to be safe. No response was given even if he did not fully reject her. It was annoying. Let Kiba want a mother, Ethan already had one that could never be replaced.

Victory speeches before the battle was to even start. Yes little mortals. Get your hopes up. Roar up about victory, while many of you will beg to be dragged back to the healers to save your lives. The vampire resented needing to be clumped in with the Nosse, but again it was for his love. She was more palatable to the public than he ever would be. Even if he did not want to be there, he didn’t want to see these people die. It would upset Teu greatly if anything were to happen to them.

Aeolus had heard from Jace and Gideon about the nightmares that had happened to the trio, and had listened with intent. He had even come across something from their own nightmares when there was a crisis so long ago, things that existed in the Void of the Crossroads. Against all odds, he had fought against one, and had won. The entire sensation he had felt when he had encountered them was something indescribable, a vast wholeness that made him feel more alive and awake.

He had later learned that he had felt the fear of death. It was exhilarating. Intoxicating. He had not quite felt it since then, and thus felt a longing for the sensation again.

But not like this. He was worried for them. Rynn. Jace. Gideon. They had all survived a nightmare that he himself had not survived. Or at least, it was an alternate version of him from another world. Still, to see the fear on Jace’s face as he explained how the war came to an end.

He strapped the three blades across his armor, making sure that there was room for his wings when he activated them. Today would be the day he would break his limits. Aeolus knew well. Corydalis foretold it… Perhaps it was this, or perhaps it was something else Regardless, the warrior felt that the six winged angel would wake up today.

Or the dragon.

He knew that Rynn had joined Nosse, and thus had made his way to their encampment upon the Bohar Plains. While he wasn’t entirely surprised at the turnout, he felt as though it wouldn’t be enough. Not if this is the same as it was for the Alzrahi family. Still, he had arrived just in time to hear Kythe’s rousing speech. She spoke of reason, and family. Even to an outsider such as Aeolus, he felt the strength and compassion behind her words.

“Rynn chose her place well,” he said aloud, to no one in particular. Still, he had not spotted her in the crowd. He made his way through, asking every so often if someone knew of, or had seen his cousin. He had hoped to get to Kythe, the leader of the guild, as she would probably have the best idea of where to look, but Aeolus doubted he would get close in the current reign of affairs.

I just hope she’s all right….

Author: Kythe, Posted: Fri Oct 4, 2019 3:14 PM, Post Subject: Call to Arms [Open; Event; Nosse Guild]

Kythe ran a hand along Valandil's scaled neck, her emerald eyes on the horizon. She had hoped and prayed that a day like today would not come; that the Nosse would not be called into battle so early in their existence… but that had been a fleeting, ridiculous dream, a dream that even she had not truly held much stock in. Was this eventuality not the very reason she had worked so hard to create the Guild? To defend Revaliir from such dangers?
If experience had taught her anything, in her long millennia, it was that the prepared survived even the worst events… she had lived many years, been through countless battles and still prepared for the next, while hoping that she would never see it's beginning. They had been as ready as they could have been, the Void had swallowed DaeLuin during her absence, had taken away a world that had been a home to her, and stolen countless lives - many of whom had held a place within the Minadrian woman's heart. She owed a lot to that lost land, and she would avenge it today, she would not see Revaliir fall to the same enemy… she had not been there to protect her family last time, but she would give her life for them this time.

The battle would be long and hard, the Gods had already assigned themselves sections and let the rest of Revaliir know their roles - Kythe had sent word to each faction, pledging the Nosse to them and stating that her Guild would move across the battlefield to support everyone where they were needed. Valandil turned on a wingtip, the colossal Dragon opening his maw and letting out a war cry at the offending horizon, his roar reverberating across the Plains. This was not the first time Kythe had ridden him into war, but today she would be joining him in the skies, to deal with the larger enemies and to protect their people with sheer brute strength.
As the Dragon soared over the main camp, Kythe slapped his neck one more time, stood up, and launched herself from her position on his back, her own wings unfurling to slow her descent.

A small, sad smile crossed her face as she heard Kiba's voice booming out a way off from her. She had her family to see before she took her place with Valandil; Luna was safe with the children and Pol in Mamlak… her youngest daughter had youngsters of her own to look after, and Kythe's husband had promised to watch over them in his wife's absence - though an argument had been had in regards to her own attendance given she was pregnant with their children. What choice did she have? Kythe could not ask her people to risk their lives then sit on her laurels! She had never been that person, and Pol knew that, no matter how much it broke his heart to think about.
She found Teu and Alairia, pulling the women into her arms, kissing their foreheads and telling them she loved them. Turning away her eyes found Isleen and Ethan, and she hurried to their sides, pulling both against her (regardless of any protestations the latter may have had). "Stay safe, both of you. Do you hear me?" The woman said sternly, putting a hand on both their cheeks, her emerald eyes glistening with tears that would never fall.
Again she turned and left them, finding Dae stood close to his grandfather, where her own daughter stood also. Kythe's heart ached for them, she had tried desperately to spare Kaya the life that she had led… and here she was, watching her daughter ready herself for war. "I've sent messages to the Deities, they know where we are and which squad leaders to call upon should they require our aid in any certain areas. Kiba, lead our ground factions, I will take the larger enemies in the sky alongside Valandil and Raith. Kaya, my darling…" Kythe's words failed her as she kissed her daughter on her forehead, reaching out to squeeze Dae's shoulder before she looked back at Kiba. "Stay safe, all of you. If I find out any of you have been killed I will bring you back to life and finish the job with my bare hands, do you understand me?" She whispered, taking the moment to hug Kiba briefly, before turning away from her son lest her emotions get the better of her and she find a way to send them all far from the front lines.

A quick word was had with her honour guard before Kythe shed herself of her clothes, handing them to Mordekai, who was doing his level best not to fuss at his Mistress. Launching herself into the air Kythe transformed once she was high enough up… and the sight was quite impressive. Dwarfing even the large Valandil, Kythe's ebony black scales shimmered despite the scars that littered them. Three heads, each sporting her emerald eyes, all opened their mouths and roared in unison, Valandil answering his Bondmate's war cry along with a third black Dragon, smaller than the first two but by no means weaker despite his obviously blind eyes.
Together the trio landed, slowly and carefully, standing amongst the Nosse, towering over the Guild members as they furled their wings in unison… what a sight the Guild made - races of all kinds, having come together, backed by the three massive Dragons and who knew what else.

"Nosse! Today is the day that we have been preparing for; this is the call that we have been ready for, the reason for our being. We are a family, we are a home to one another, and today our home is being threatened. Rise up! Rise with me and all of Revaliir! Today we defend our home and our family! Stay safe, all of you, I expect to see each and every one of you home tonight to celebrate our victory!" Kythe called, throwing back her heads and letting out another cry.
Today would be their day.

Author: Isleen Amara, Posted: Thu Oct 3, 2019 11:12 PM, Post Subject: Call to Arms [Open; Event; Nosse Guild]

Isleen had not agreed to formally join the guild. She was incredibly uncomfortable with what that would mean as she took the ties of family incredibly serious. The last time she felt truly connected to one, the majority were also part of her Pack. The dark haired girl would have given up her life for any of them without question.Yet, things had changed since then. Fate tore her away from the Pack at a fairly early age and when there was a semblance of hope to return to them, the Void occurred. Then it was she and Ethan against the world in this new land. Now, her mate was still her reason for breathing but now that she reconnected with family, her universe expanded. If the wolf was to agree to being in the guild, there would be responsibilities and obligations. Had the clan been entirely composed of wolves, perhaps the decision would’ve been easier. Alas, she was a vampire-werewolf with an affinity for blood magic and psionics.

She trekked through the camp, stopping at the various sections. The girl raised her hand above her head and swiped it slowly across. The name of the zone sparkled in the air to help designate exactly what was occurring where to provide some order to the chaos. If they were facing other people, she wouldn’t have been so transparent in the structure of the camp but she was betting the creatures wouldn’t be able to read. At the healer’s area, she paused and placed a hand upon her sister’s shoulder and gave it a squeeze. “See you soon,” Isleen promised. “But not too soon,” Teu protested, her worry for her people and family undeniable. The wolf nodded and pivoted away towards where the rest were gathering.

Isleen had argued with Ethan and her father a few nights prior on where exactly she was going to be during the battles. Unlike Teu, Isleen’s role in the family and guild was never clearly defined. The girl could now heal grievous wounds but there were apprehensions about being around so much blood and chaos. It would have been safer to be among the healers but no one could be truly certain if she would stay focused and work quickly enough or simply be in the way. The other option was to have her on the field with them. Realistically, Isleen was not expected to wield a sword, though one of the men mentioned wanting her by their side, or even use a bow. She argued that babysitting her would only be a distraction, demanding not to be treated like a child. Finally, they agreed that she would be among the offensive forces but on the sidelines with the archers and the majority of the mages. Her magic could withstand the distance.

Her eyes, also mismatched upon that day, met with her father’s gaze moments before he spoke to the crowd. She lifted her chin slightly, pulled back her shoulders, and tugged her dark leather armor down. As one of his daughters, she knew she had a reputation to live up to. Her hair had been pulled back into many intricate braids to keep her wavy locks out of her face. Isleen swallowed hard at the given time frame as fear began to creep in. She weaved through the crowd to find Ethan once more. They wrapped their arms around each other, his forehead resting upon hers. The wolf breathed in heavily, soaking in his scent. Selfishly, she wished they had never left their home. Being tangled up in sheets with her head on his chest never sounded better.

Tick. Tock.

Attie spotted her guild's encampment and ran over to it, with arms full of supplies. Her backpack was filled to the brim with potions, rations, blankets, weapons, and many other things. Most of these items had come from merchants and blacksmiths, all determined to keep their homes safe. She dropped off the supplies at the storage tents then ran off to meet with the healers to deliver the herbs that they needed. This was a job that she was best at, running between places to deliver things. Attie would join the battle but she noticed that the guild was lacking a few supplies so she had taken initiative and used her portals to get the resources. She made her way to the healers tent and handed them off to one of the healers. She didn't have time to stick around as she had to deliver the weapons to some of the soldiers who had requested them. These weapons were specialized for each of these soldiers. Attie was running around the encampment, trying to get everybody's weapons to them.

Eventually she had finished with that task and took a moment to sit. This was war. War for their very lives. War for everything that they held dear. As she looked around at the people in the encampment, she saw their determination and fear. They were determined to do their best to safe their homes but feared the monsters. Attie could sympathize with them but she had a different viewpoint on the situation. If she died in battle then there was nothing that she could do about it. She didn't have anybody who would miss her. There wasn't a family waiting for her back home and the few friends she had, well they didn't know her well enough to be sad about her if she died. Even this guild was far too new to really miss her. Still, she was determined to do her best and try to win against these monsters. If she didn't do her best and didn't live through the ordeal, then she would be failing everybody. That was where it really mattered to her. She had a responsibility to protect this world and these people.

Attie pulled out a book from her bag. The book had a deep shade of green and had "How to go to war for smarties" sewn on the front cover. The first chapter described how disease was the first thing that killed most warriors during a war. The second thing that killed most soldiers and warriors was the actual battle. The third thing was a tie between starvation and lack of water. Attie decided that the book was bringing her mood down too much and decided to close the book.

Putting the book back into her backpack, she began to ran off to one of the lady's tents so she could put on her armor. She had chosen simple leather armor so that she could move quickly. Attie knew that her two strengths were in agility and magic thus her outfit reflected that. Leaving the tent, Attie walked to the edge of the shield where the army was being gathered for a battle. She had her daggers and her backpack in case anybody needed potions or other materials. She listened as the Diowolf boomed out instructions to the group. Ten minutes. Ten minutes until battle.

Many knew that this day was to come. All the evidence had lined up for the eventual attack that was descending upon Revaliir. Kiba’s chest clenched tightly as he felt more panic than had ever felt before besides when the Void had swallowed up DaeLuin. Now he knew that all of his children were in this world. If this defense did not come to a proper end, than he had the potential to lose his family all over again. There were many that stood to lose everything if this did not go well. It was in moments like these that all had to hold together.

Hands flexed and relaxed between fists or stretched out hand. Only the slightest of sound was made as his armor shifted. Kiba was grateful at the gift he had been presented by Lokir during his time as a Champion. The armor felt like a glove over his entire body to protect him from harm, all while being commanded with a single thought. If there were ever a better time for his armor to be tried in true combat Kiba could not think of one.

His sapphire sword was strapped to his back as he pushed back the flap of his tent to look up at the sky squinting into rays of sun that managed to still warm the earth below. The crack in the sky was devastating to expose the monster that was looming to devour the world. Diowolf inhaled sharply before armored foot stepped forward to look for his guild mates. He needed to get them prepared for what was to come. He needed to make sure that they were ready for the attack to be made. Inside their encampment they were safe, but once they left it would not be the same story.

Kiba weaved between a few tents to find where he had settled the rest of the guild on this battle field. There was a proud smile that lit his lips as he looked up his granddaughter along with his daughter who were already preparing for the injured. Even with Alairia’s blindness, her fingers moved swiftly to prepare bandages and tonics. She had adapted well to her disability. His gaze connected with his daughter Teu. Her emerald eyes shone with worry as well as faith in her father. A small nod was shared between the two, before Kiba moved on to find the others of their guild.

His grandson Dae was far off at the edge of the shield along with Kiba’s followers. They were keeping watch while the rest prepared. ”Members of Nosse! Harken to me!” The diowolf let his voice boom out, it was time for them to set out. ”For those of you willing and able to carry arms we are going to leave the shield shortly. Make sure your armor as well as your weapons are in top condition. Those who are of a support capacity; see yourselves to Teu for instruction. We will need healing as well as care for weariness.” The diowolf took a large breath before releasing it.

”You have ten minutes. Then, we leave.”
