The Gate
In Canelux, on the Island of Apoy, lives the Volcano better known as the Spewer of Ash, an angry force of nature, full of rage and fire. What better place to find the entrance to the God of Wrath and Heavens domain?
The place is home to Dragons and flame, it is here, at the maw of the Volcano itself, that the towering Gate has been placed. A colossal arch of stone, within which two giant doors of steel reside; depicted upon their blackened, steel surface, are the constellations in Revaliir’s Heavens, mighty Dragons weaving amongst the stars, their eyes glittering gems of all varieties, while the stars themselves have been made with diamonds and opals to catch the light and glisten as the stars themselves do.
To cling to the stone arch, and glance around it, is to realise that all that lies behind it is the Volcano itself, in all its terrible fury, and yet, etched into the door are the words ”Let them look up in the sky then, if they must be so blind, that cannot see the truth in broad daylight, but must have the whole world in darkness to see the conceit of the stars…”. It is all the invitation one will receive in regards to visiting the God that lies behind them.
For those who dare to grasp the ornate, twisted metal handles, to pull open the door, they will feel a slight vibration within the metal, and a feeling of warmth that cannot quite be associated with the Volcano behind it. Once a visitor dares to open the Gate, they are greeted with a dark path, with the stars twinkling all around, the Gate is a teleport to the Deity’s celestial domain, and all are welcome to enter, if they so dare.
Raiqi Labyrinth
Once through the Gate, you are lead to a dark path at the top of a hill, the world around is dark and full of stars and it is clear that this realm is situated within the Heavens themselves. Below is a daunting sight, for within this starry valley is the Celestial Citadel, where the God of Wrath and Heavens resides, but to reach it you must first traverse Raiqi Labyrinth - the literal translation, is essentially, the Labyrinth of Anger.
You must take the path through the Labyrinth to reach the Citadel, for it is the test you must face in order to seek an audience with its Master… and what better way to greet the God of Wrath by an offering of your own? And what better way to bring him anger than by having to traverse the seemingly endless twists, turns and deadends of a Maze such as this? Those that can fly are filled with a sense of dread at the thought of cheating this path for an easy way in - if you attempt to reach the Deity’s abode via the sky you will find yourself straight back at the lip of the Volcano, he does not take trespassing well.
Flickering flames light the way down the hill, a courtesy to help you reach the entrance to the Labyrinth. Once you enter the Labyrinth there is nothing, no light, just the oppressive darkness and the stars above you. To the most observant visitors, they will notice the steady vibrations through the floor of the Labyrinth, though most do not feel such things and even fewer take note. There is a reason that your sight has been taken from you; firstly, because the Deity has no intentions of making your journey easy, but secondly, because he is the Blind God - it is time to experience the world as he does.
It is here in Raiqi that the majority of visitors struggle, if not fail. Those whose hearts are not truly in it, or give up, will find themselves back at the entrance to the Labyrinth, facing the path back out towards the Gate, for those whose anger and frustration grows with each failure, but those who remain steadfast in their determination - they will either by met by Raith himself, or find themselves at the exit to their strife.
Giliath; the Celestial Citadel
Free of the infuriating twists and turns of the Labyrinth, is the prize at the centre, the Celestial Citadel itself - Giliath. A wind path leads up to it’s gate, lava flowing slowly down from the summit where the Citadel itself rests, a shining beacon in comparison to the domain so far. High towers loom overhead, stretching their way to the stars above them, an imposing glass dome, nestled within the centre.
The doors to the Citadel are less imposing that the Gate, but made of the same blackened steel, the constellations closer and more dazzling than before. They open with ease, into further darkness, and a corridor lined with fire to light the way. Keep to the middle of this black, marble path, for the edge is a sheer drop into the Heavenly void this realm exists within. The air in this hallway is chilling, it grips you right to your bones, the void of space working out whether the visitors are worthy of traversing further into the God's dwelling. Eventually the hallway opens out into a circular room, directly below the glass dome that allows the stars to witness everything within this Throne room. At the edge of the room are several doors, though currently only two are in use and only for those who know what lies behind them - one between Mamlak and the Healer's shop located there, and one to the ruins in Ancense where the Nosse have made their home.
At the centre of this room is a colossal Dragon spreading his wings, flames flickering from his maw and trickling along his black scales as he grasps the back of the marble chair where his Master takes his seat, the Dragon's Ruby eyes seem to bore into the souls of those who seek an audience from the Blind God, acting as the Deity's sight almost.
Most visitors are not invited any further than this place, the central heart of Osme, where Raith graces his pilgrims with his presence. If he is not there upon arrival, or has not greeted a pilgrim within Raiqi, he will feel the vibrations shifting beneath their feet to let him know exactly where they are, and arrive only when he sees fit.
The Watchtower
This is Raith's inner sanctum, his personal domain that he shares with his beloved Alairia. It is the highest tower, closest to the stars, where he speaks directly to the Celestials at his command, where an aurora of stars perpetually flows across the ceiling to light the rooms without the need for fire - creating a romantic, warm glow filled with a comforting sensation. There are several rooms in this tower, for those deemed worthy of traversing the hundreds of marble steps to its peak.
Raith and Alairia's room is out of bounds to all, a place they call their own, with soft furnishings and all the comforts either the God with his feet in the shadows, or his beloved beacon of Light might require.
There are three rooms here that he may bring pilgrims too, if he so wishes. One is the Observatory itself, a room that seems to be within the stars themselves, a room terrifying in its own way as there is… Well… nothing but space, no floors or wall or roof - just the stars and icy fingers of the Heavens, with the door back to the main area of the Tower. The second is his library, a fairly redundant thing for a man who cannot see really, but an offering to those within his inner circle to use as they see fit. Thirdly is the common room, fitted with a huge, roaring hearth and several comfortable seats where Raith might bring a pilgrim to speak more privately and in a more relaxed fashion.
Please note, rooms may be added to the Temple over time as Raith sees fit.
