Xunatar knew when it was time for games and when it was time to be more serious. Despite his playful nature, the god was vastly different from his previous self. It showed in his actions towards Scarlett, who may have doubted that she would see the day that he’d be more mature. He watched her attentively as she contemplated the idea of joining him completely.
“Fate is a funny thing, my dear. It is the most fickle thing I have encountered yet. Even more so than I have been. But I do know what I want…” Like a moth to the flame, she indulged the idea and accepted the offer. It brought out a satisfied grin as his lips mimicked the title she gave herself.
“Has a nice ring to it, Scarlett. I’d figured that if it were meant for anyone one, it would be you.” He leaned back against the head of the bed, knowing that she would reap the rewards as well as accept the dangers of being associated with him on this level. He had already made a good amount of enemies from his latest antics and knew that if anyone found out about her connections with him would try to use that against them in some way.
That said, it would an equally dangerous thing to try that.
“My children? Most simply wouldn’t give too much of a thought. They are used to my lovers not being long term, though it is quite different when it comes to you. Only a few like Carrie would likely mind it, but then again, she doesn’t really like any person other than herself. You have nothing to worry about on that end.”

Scarlett looked thoughtful as she took in his words. He had been reluctant all those years ago, but it was clear that they BOTH were older and wiser then there near adolescent selves in that other world. She smiled at him a small cocky smile, as she mulled it over. Of course there was little reason to leave him in the dark about her thoughts, as he had made an excellent point.
"It would be a shame to spit in Fate's face. I mean, after all, we found each other even after being pulled into a new world," she chuckled. "I'll do it. I'll be your Queen. Since you asked me so nicely," she purred at him. She smirked and leaned in and kissed him passionately. "I've always had a taste for the finer things in life. Being the Queen of the God of Chaos and Deceit… I think that would suit me just fine," she admitted. "Besides, it means that not only do I get the man that even time and space decided I was fated to be with, but I get to enjoy the perks that come with him being a god, namely treasure, fine clothes, and a massive temple to call home," she smiled at him and laughed. "How do you think your children will take you ACTUALLY picking a queen?" she asked him as she rolled over to lay upon her back and glanced at him.

"Well, you were so devoted to me, that you were willing to forsake everything in your previous life for it" He did recall when she wanted it, although he had been hesitant at first. It might have been a brash request, but he did admired her ability to go after what she wanted. Perhaps that was the thing that attracted him to Scarlett ultimately.
"Yes, I was young and only lived for the present time back then. I guess I feared being restrained or something if I promised myself to only you. I can admit that. But things had changed and I grew older and wiser. Now I seek to secure my place in the future, and I figured you'd want to do the same." Nothing was promised to them that they would have this life of comfort and power forever, but he would make the best of it and have no regrets. And Xunatar saw no other person that he felt was more worthy of sharing it with him than her.
His hand slowly petted her, coaxing her like a cat as he huffed at her.
"Right, I forgotten you like to get to the point of things. As you wish- that is what I'm suggesting, Scarlett. The promise only served to remind me of what we would had have back in DaeLuin, the other realm we resided in. I'm looking towards the future, our future and you are worthy of being my queen, if you'd accept it…" He would not sway her in any way if she didn't wish for it. He wouldn't fight against her wishes yet he watched her with the keenest of eyes, watching her lips as they were to speak out her answer to his request.
"Ultimately I wish to make up for lost time with you and not leave it up to fate once more, lest I do not know how long it will be before we find each other on some other realm…" The god chuckled at the thought, but after everything that happened, he could see it being a possibility.

Scarlett found herself surprised, and she lifted her head to look at Xunatar to make certain he was serious. "I do remember. Now, it seems a rather brash thing for me to have requested," she admitted to him. His grin made her smile back up at him as his fingers played with her thick red curls. "You were hesitant about it back then," she commented. She giggled softly as she lowered her head softly to his chest again and he kissed the top of her head. Hundreds of half formed thoughts skittered through her mind as she listened to him promise that she would still be able to come and go as she pleased and that he valued her being free.
"Speak plainly, here, Xunatar," she said with a slight laugh as she sat up again. "You are officially asking me to be your queen? Not because of the request of a silly girl who was attached to you all those years ago, but because you desire me and only me," she insisted. "You want me to be yours, the Mistress of your domain, so to speak?" she asked him.

Although it was quite plain to see that the two were vastly different from their previous selves, but Xunatar and Scarlett seemed as though they left off from just yesterday. It was a humorous thought in how yet again their paths crossed. Such ideas though faded into the back of his head as they underwent their love making. With her, he enjoyed it thoroughly even with the stamina he gained from his rising. Still, he felt that their embrace differed from any other time he had with another woman. In the latter, he had only done such things to bear suitable heirs. With Scarlett, he had an attachment to, so it was more thrilling and meaning behind it.
As the flames of their desire waned, he found himself comfortably on his bed with her resting on top of him. The lord took great comfort in listening to her slumber against him. Xunatar wasn’t quite sure if he had paid much attention to her as he had back in DaeLuin. He could admit that he was more brash and unruly back there but now he had matured and had a vast understanding of the world. When she begun to stir, his eyes fell down on her and felt her hand travel over his body at her leisure.
“Many things, Scarlett. For one thing, I wish to fulfill the promise you wanted long ago. Do you recall yourself requesting that you wanted to be my queen?” Flashing a small grin, he caressed the back of her head, enjoying the soft curls of her hair. He hadn’t forgotten that, nor had he of when he first was introduced to the idea. His younger self was hesitate in going through with it, but now he was more susceptible to the idea.
“Of course with that said, you’d still have free reign to do and go as you please. I wouldn’t want you to be a caged bird after all.” He chuckled as he kissed the top of her head, but he was absolutely serious with the idea. It had taken such a long time to find her when he had once thought she had perished, and deep down he didn’t wish to lose her.

She remembered a much more rash, impetuous Xunatar, and how they had once broken a bed in an inn with their play. This Xunatar, this demon prince, was much more methodical and deliberate and she could feel it in how he caressed and kissed her fiery form. It was intoxicating, like the scent that played off his form, the fragrance woven into his hair. She could even taste it on his skin as she examined him with her lips.
Time slipped away in the rush of sensations and caresses, and soon exhaustion overtook her. The fire in her hair died down, leaving behind the red-orange curls splayed out across the pillows. Her breathing was slow and steady as she slept, her form warm beside the God of Deceit. Her work hardened hand lay across his chest lightly. She twitched slightly in her sleep and she stirred, her eyes fluttering open. She looked up at Xunatar and gently traced shapes upon his skin.
"Tell me what is on your mind, My Lord…"

It had been ages yet he recalled their moments together as satisfying as they were brief and few. While he had a past before her and certainly after he thought that she hadn’t crossed over from the old realm, he hadn’t cared for any of the women he had been with. For the most part, they were a means to an end and while the fruits of his labor had certainly been claimed, he knew that Scarlett had been a different matter. Just as the Voice had proven, she was perhaps the only one person he wouldn’t lay a finger onto. Whether it was love or not, it was still unclear to him. Xunatar wasn’t sure if he could truly love, but he was possessive of her as a dragon was to its gold. Perhaps it was still possible in his darkened heart to feel something like it though.
His hands guided long her body, taking it all in to remember. Taking in her scent while smelling remnants of what she had once been along with the new. As they embraced, it slowly started to feel like they had never left one another, at least to him. His craft of seduction had been sharpened in their time apart and it showed in how he planted every kiss, where he kissed and how his hands moved to stir pleasure into her. Had it been his younger self, then he would have been more hasty and less tending than he was now.
She was the only one that he truly found ravishing enough to keep his interest alive, yet he was too unsure as to why. But such things didn’t really bother him, not in this moment. He looked on with hungry eyes as she undid her clothing and fell onto the bed. Smirkingly, he slowly followed over to that side of the bed she occupied and flung the shirt off of him. His breath left him as she tended to his chest. Despite her flames, he wasn’t worried about their surrounds being set aflame- everything around them would not be affected, not with his power here. There was no fear as he climbed onto the bed with her and ran his hand down her fiery hair before slipping in a deeper kiss to her. That hand continued to play with her while the other ran down her side, slowly letting his fingers enjoy on smooth and supple her form was.

She exhaled slowly as she felt Xunatar's lips let slip from her own down her jaw and neck. It tickled something fierce and she loved the feel of his breath as it washed over her skin. She relished his hands as they moved over her body, exploring the new curves of this body. She nodded silently to his words, and felt the shift of magic around them as they were transferred to his chamber. She had been suspicious of the first room, it had not suited his personality at all. This was much more like him. Her mind worked as they embraced, kissing and caressing, her fingers undoing the clasp of his cloak and finding purchase upon the buttons of his shirt.
Conversely, her work belt and over-corset were discarded and she somehow managed to shake off her boots as she followed him to the bed. She was far more comfortable now as she fell back onto the massive and incredibly soft bed. She had never known such luxury, and she reached out to draw him to her again, her flames flickering around her face as her eyes glowed. She ran her hands over his chest, admiring his musculature before she sat up and pressed her lips to his neck and led her own trail of warm kisses downward.

Xunatar felt her beneath his lips as she unraveled. He felt her matching his motions and the longer they embraced the more he felt the old Scarlett in her coming out. The way she kissed him reminded him of their trysts, no matter how long it had been. He could still recall how she tasted and how wanting she was of him. He was reminded of her smooth her skin was against his touches, and though her scent was rather different than what he was accustomed to, he wasn’t bothered much by it.
It was the furthest thought in his mind as the god entangled around her body. His grip upon her hips grew more possessive and their lips locked together for what seemed like forever before she broke away. Xunatar took heed to it and merely watched her. A devilish smile was forged across his face before she led the charge this time. There was more lustfulness behind her kiss and his own grew tremendously. It had been so long since he desired another as much as he had her. He felt her fingers into his hair and he brought her body closer to his. There was no shyness in his movement as his hands traveled behind her, enjoying the feeling of her curves inch by inch. His own lips pulled away to nimble and trail down her neck.
Let’s just keep reminding ourselves of what had once been and will be again then”, he spoke between kisses. As they embraced, he silently transferred them and their belongings into his own chambers which was fit for a king. He slowly allowed her to process everything before running his lips against hers teasingly. His cloak was stripped off him and soon his shirt was unbuttoned but remained as he lead her to his bed.

A slight tint of pink painted her cheeks at the compliment as the locket hung suspended from her neck, resting just below the nook of her collar bones, and even more so when he stood up and came close to her, his strong and slender fingers finding purchase upon her hips, his head coming close to her neck as if to partake of her scent. Smoke, cinnamon, and leather would be the scents found upon her, and she hoped that he would not find them unfit. She was pretty sure that there was probably some degree of scorpion goo and dirt that mingled with it. She did dirty work, but despite that, she always liked to be clean and presentable. Right now, she almost felt grungy, but he did not seem to care.
True enough however, the Fire Genasi was a couple inches taller than her other Tiefling self, a simple difference in genetic heritage making her just barely too tall to for him to be able to rest his chin upon the top of her head. She hoped that it made things a little more convenient for him; he would not be required to stoop to her level, so to speak. It worked out to her advantage as his lips pressed to hers. It was the first time that she could recall in this life at least that anyone had ever embraced her so. The yearning was returned with vigor as though the tiefling was acting instead of the untrained Genasi, remembering exactly how to kiss Xunatar. Her hands came up on his chest, and rested there for a moment, the passionate embrace igniting the fire in her blood, and once again her hair blazed to life, glowing warmly, but not causing burns or discomfort to either of them.
She pulled back finally to take a breath. "Gods… I had forgotten how good that feels," she said lustily before she kissed him again, fiercer than before, her fingers weaving into his long white hair, her body pressing firmly against his.

“As insightful as ever”, he mused as his touch cradled her. It had felt just like yesterday that they had found themselves in a similar situation. Only this time there would no games played between the two and they were older and wiser than before. Scarlett may have felt otherwise, but she didn’t seem to be like the girl he had met that didn’t just wanted to defy her parents’ rules. No, she wanted more, much more and he couldn’t find him able to deny her what she craved.
“Perhaps. Either you can or not makes no difference to me. Not when it comes to you”, Xunatar admitted as he enjoyed the feeling of her skin. He released her as she stood up from the bed and retrieved the locket he gave her in another life. Eyes that always had a hidden chaos in them watched with glee as she put around her neck.
“It looks great on you, darling.” He placed one leg on top of the other and casually watched her approached him.
“I had always pictured you with it from the first time I ran into it.” Mulling over the question, Xunatar rose back up to his feet as well and placed his hands against either side of her hips and dipped his head towards the side of her neck. He couldn’t recall if she had been much shorter then she was now, but he was grateful all the same to her height.
“Should we even have to ask?” He didn’t bother to waste too much of their time and he embraced her lips with his own. The kiss was yearning which was something not too familiar with him and there was hunger in his motion.

She felt her heart flutter as he hand came up and gently angled her chin to look up at him, his fingertips barely touching her skin. She chuckled softly. He had her there.
"Can't… won't… does it really matter. That much hasn't changed about me. I'm not wise," she said with a smile as his fingers moved to caress her neck. "I'm not opposed to re-investigating. We might find that there is more to what would be us this time. I know for a fact I may prove to me more useful to you as I am now than as I was before," she said, turning her face into the tantalizing feel of his hand. "I didn't really get to truly know you before, Xunatar," she said as she slowly stood up, her satchel slipping to the ground as she lifted up her hand which now held the locket he had long ago given her, and put it where it should have been: around her neck.
"So I guess at this point, the only question is this: business or pleasure first?" she asked him as she stepped up to him coyly.

It wasn’t hard to use one’s imagination when it came down his relationship with Scarlett. He truly had a keen interest in the woman that would forsaken everyone and everything it seemed to be by his side. She had a fire about her that he craved and like a moth to flame, he obliged to her once before. It wouldn’t have been too difficult to convince him again of what they had. Despite his title, he was genuinely captivated and had truly missed the little vixen that pledged to no one else’s. He pondered on whether such a promise had remained in her in their time apart, but it wouldn’t have mattered to him if it hadn’t been kept. He had long thought that she was gone from this world and she seemed to have believed that he was nothing but a dream.
His hand captured hers briefly; her hand was far different than what he was used to and yet there were remnants that had reminded him of her touch before. How he had once known this hands to grace his form in their encounters. If there were any question of whether this was reality or if he really had been duped by some illusion, the self doubts were conquered and he knew her to be real.
“There is. I have learned much in my time now and my way of thinking things through hand changed as well. Perhaps the only real thing that changed would be my sense of humor”, he spoke, letting out a soft chuckle just as the their scene changed into one that was played in what felt like eons ago. She appeared amused as well at their game, something that he looked back at times and shook his head.
“Yes, I see that in my younger years that I played such silly games when I was afraid of seeking what I wanted. Now?” His eyes turned to her, filled with a carnal hunger.
“Not so much. I seek what I want and I do it rather carefully if I must. Otherwise I pursue it.” The lord was amused by her words and he sat onto the bed beside her and looked on.
“Perhaps not, but I believe that you do still carry such traits and applied them to nearly every other aspect in your life. You were always one that wanted to prove yourself, if not to others, then yourself personally. His hand slowly rose to beneath her chin, allowing for the faintest of touches to grace across her beautiful skin. “Is it because…you can’t say no? Or you won’t say no?”, he said, his own eyes shimmering in the light as he inched closer to her. His hand now stroking against her cheek and side of her neck. “Just as before, I can hardly let you leave my side if we explore what had once been lost. I don’t think I would be able to bear it…”

She felt as well as saw how his gaze swept over her, and she actually gave him a raised eyebrow look that said "Really?" with out her actually having to say anything. She was half tempted to stand up and do a little twirl around so that he could just see whatever it was that he was trying to gauge. She didn't shy away when he stepped closer to her like she might have done a few minutes ago.
"I'm sure that there are going to be things about you that are a little different than I remember, even IF you came through the more dominant side than I did," she said. She did something surprising, even to her at that moment and actually raised her hand to him, offering to let him touch her, a gentle response to his words about missing her. It was simply the means to prove to him that she was not an illusion, and never was. Her hand met the hand that he had offered. "You are right, we do," she replied. Her hands might not have been as soft as he remembered, for working in mines and with chemicals had left her hands quite calloused, quite different from the girl who had been the daughter of a tailor in the other world. His hands were soft though, but strong, and she knew in the blink of an eye they could become dangerous weapons. But it had always struck her how delicate and gentle those hands could have been. He barely needed to stimulate the memories, for they were going through her own mind as well. Now they played out before her, and she couldn't help but let out a girlish giggle at how borderline ridiculous the pair of them were, trying to seduce and get under each others' skin through jealousy. She didn't need him to show her what had happened once they reached the bedroom, since she had dreams of the things that had transpired when their bodies had joined. It had caused her torment in those sleepless nights because until now, she had never been able to pin down if they had been real or dreams.
She chuckled softly. "Maybe not me in what I have experienced in this life so far. I have not been so… fortunate to do what we once did. But you aren't wrong. I don't let things like stigma and taboo get in my way," she replied firmly as she looked at him her amethyst eyes glowing again. "And if the Lord of Lies still desires my touch, who I am to say no?"

Despite their rocky start, he hadn’t wished for her departure just yet. Not that he would be willing to admit it, but ever since he learned that she was not only a resemblance to his lost lover, but she was essentially her and not her at the same time. The rifts had been both kind to some and cruel to others. Those that cross over the boundaries had either integrated with their Revaliir selves or became either the dominant or submissive side. In Scarlett’s case, it appeared that the former was chosen for her. As painful as it was, it seemed that there were still remnants of her in this variation of her.
She didn’t seem eager to end this session either and the god inched closer to her, allowing for the rose tinted glasses to fade from his sight. Like the other one, Scarlett was very pleasant on the eyes, perhaps a bit more curvaceous now. He didn’t bother to hide his glances though it was known that he wasn’t just one that sought for flesh. He craved intelligence from others, it made playing with them far more appealing. She was smart and caught onto things rather quickly. When it came to her response, he couldn’t help but to let loose a small smile from the corner of his lips. Just it was just like her to find such a creature capable of harm to be fascinating. It was what lured her in in the first place. And it was her persistence that made him see her as a capable lover and partner.
“You may be different, but I can see as plain as rain that you still share some of her attributes. And then there are some that she lacked that you have personally.” He came closer to her, yearning to touch her skin, to feel her lips against his own once more but he refrained.
“I have…missed you since coming here. It had been too long since I saw those eyes but I was sure it was all just an illusion out there.” Perhaps she was the only light he would allow in his darkened kingdom and should fate try to take her again, there would be hell to pay.
The portal didn’t seem to be needed anymore, so he dismissed it with a wave of hand towards it.
“Many lack that instinct you have. I am aware you use your mind and figure out what you need to do to thrive. Others are too caught up in morals and laws to see differently from you or I”, he expressed softly, offering his hand toward her.
“We do have much to catch up on, my dearest.” Xunatar chuckled deeply as he let the memories roll by. Soon they manifested before them, replacing their surroundings with that of the tavern where they could see a younger version of him with short white locks planning something at his table. Not too long after that, the other world’s Scarlett came out and they played around to see who would come to who first. He decided to make her jealous after a while with the barkeep and ultimately she kept her cool and they talked and talked. Despite his attempts to dissuade her, she was strong willed and she knew what she wanted- him. She wanted the devil all to herself and whether he wanted to admit it or not, he believed her and he obliged. They practically seduced one another until they came into the room. Xunatar would stop the visions they oversaw whenever Scarlett had enough of them. If not, then he would let them play out in front of them.
“From what you are seeing, does this not seem like you? Your will, determination and your ability to seek what you want and claim it?” As far as her allegiance to him, he had some ideas he would run past her, but the business portion could wait for a bit.

Scarlett shrugged slightly, briefly looking at the portal, but clearly not in a hurry to leave. When Xunatar asked her how she felt about everything that was transpiring, she didn't answer right at first. She thought hard, her mouth screwing up slightly in a half-puckered way as she ran her thumb and index finger over her chin and upper lip.
"That's hard to say. I'm intrigued, honestly," she admitted. "If you had been any other person, I would have taken that portal without a second thought… but its you, and we have a history that I wouldn't mind revisiting. I'd like to make sense of all these memories I have. Maybe then I'll stop feeling like 2 separate beings and just start being myself," she said simply with a slight shrug.
"I don't know about having strength that others don't. I just did what was necessary for my survival," she said dismissively with a slight wave of her hand. "But thank you."
She watched and listened to him, and his story. Much of it was familiar, but different in the same way, or at least more detailed. She gave him a slight smile and laugh when he brought up the parents warning her about him. That's right, her otherself had come from the Underdark where he had spent time as a prisoner.
"The forbidden fruit. I do remember that," she chuckled softly. "That much, I know, hasn't changed. I'm plenty smart, and can come up with solutions to problems on the spot, but I have no claim on Wisdom. I'm also known to be a bit rash and ever so slightly impulsive," she told him. "Does that at all sound like the girl you knew?" she asked him curiously.
"I don't know if things will be the same like they were then, but I am not afraid to try a hand at… this… whatever we care to define it as. I'm well aware that it is my best interests to make sure to align myself with you, it is just sound logic. I can only hope that I can be as useful to you."

It hadn't been often that he would bring the pendant out from its secure hiding spot but when he would, he would simply look upon the hair, gazing at it for there was a part of him that was left untainted by madness or malicious. That part had always been for her since they swore to one another. Ever since, it had been buried greatly beneath the darkness and now some of it had been coming back up to the light. Neither that or the locket were meant to be seen by another other than Scarlett, but given this turn of events, it seemed to make sense that she was allowed to see them from the lord. He seemed pleased a bit to hear that somewhere inside her, the one he knew still existed and harbored feelings for the demon still.
"I see. How do you feel about all this though?" He took notice that despite his blessing, she hadn't taken to the portal out of here yet. Was it because Scarlett's former self kept her there or was her current self too curious to walk away from the only man that could possible help her answer the questions that had plagued her for so long?
It was hard to say.
When Xunatar asked her about herself, he had no other motive in mind other than to learn about her. Her story differed greatly from the other's. But they shared similar traits, the obvious was their stubbornness, he noted.
"A tragic start, but you not only thrived, but you prevailed. Many lack such a strength to go on the way you have." "Not sure on how much you can recall me from before, but I haven't been as I am now, not always. When we had met, I was more of a trickster with an unique sense of humor. I think I acquired it from the day I completed my training and the trials I was put through to find my ranking. The torture seemed endless and my body looked as though it went through a gruesome war before I was elected prince. Before we had met, I had been a prisoner of the drow for so long, it felt like decades. Though they weren't as bad as the demons, they did a bang up job time and time again"{ He frowned in remember his hatred of the darker elves and what they had done to him, but with a wave, he got over it.
"In any case, I am far older than either side of you and have extensive knowledge of this world around us.I recall…that your parents had once warned you about me, but you hadn't cared. Perhaps that was what led for you to…" He was hesitate on finishing his sentence but he cleared his throat and watched her carefully. Xunatar didn't want to scare her away, not after all that he had learned today. But they kept running into the same problem no matter what road they went down.

Seeing the lock of still curling red hair carefully kept inside the locket that matched her own made her heart hiccup in a way that was strange for the fiery Scarlett, but the girly side of her that had been buried seemed all to familiar with it. So he had kept it, after all this time.
"Yes, she is. The feelings we-you shared are coming through quite strong now," she told him. "I'm not one to be romantic, or even very feminine in general, but ever since she became part of me, that has changed."
"I was born in Railoch, where all elementals come to Revaliir. My father was a djinn, my mother a human researcher there. She left me in Iria when I was born, since it became clear that I wasn't exactly human. Children of djinni have always had to find their own way. We are even more outcast than those with demon blood. Or at least I have been. I can't vouch for others like me, because I have never met another Genasi, Fire or of any other element," she told him. "I wandered around on my own, learning and scraping by a living anyway I could. When I was a teenager I found my way to Baltil, and was taken in as an apprentice. They found me useful because I had a knack with explosives, and that was helpful when it came to mining. I've lived and worked there ever since. I did a little bit of studying in Karith, and can read and speak in Dwarvish, Primordial, Ignan, Draconic and Goblin."
She ran a hand through her short cropped red hair. She had no curls here, but her hair was still the vibrant shade of red it had been in the other world.
"I use Alchemy to help in mining in Baltil, and Artificing to create magical items. Theodore Thuxra is someone I study quite closely."

Another life, another time, he recalled his younger years of the other world. He had been crass and witty, still coming to terms with his mind fractured a bit from the trials and then later on from the drow imprisoning him in their dirty little hole of a home. He remembered very vividly of what Scarlett was saying to him as he listened. He rose his hand to her when he started to see that she was struggling with the memories.
“Yes, I was playing with you. That was my intention, to test what you were capable of.” He let her continue undisturbed before his eyes fell onto the bag that now housed her locket. In his hand came forth a locket that mirrored it in appearance and his fingers easily snapped it open. Towards the end of her tale, he only gave her a small, smug smile. She didn’t need to describe what happened between them, no words were needed to speak of their actions after they talked beneath the moonlight. He lowered his hand towards her to see that his locket held the very lock of hair she mentioned.
“Never had I given it up. I never had the heart to. Not sure why. Perhaps I had held some bit of hope of seeing you again” Xunatar allowed her a few more moments to gaze at it before withdrawing it and snapping it back shut.
“I suppose she is still there, buried beneath your more dominant self. It is only a theory though.” He stared at her in a moment of thought, wondering if that side of her had wondered what had happened to him after they parted. Too much time had passed and they both were changed in some fashion. The god knew that a lot had changed with him; he could understand how the merger of two counterparts could have dramatic results. He was a blend of both versions, and though his older self was the dominate one, many of his Revaliir traits were often seen.
“Tell me…about yourself. Not of the one that lurks within, but that of the Artificer Alchemist.” He pondered about how different she truly was- already from the way she fought and her demeanor was surely leagues away from the one he knew, but if anything, he wanted to at least know more about it for the sake of it.

"You were one of the most vivid dreams I would have," Scarlett admitted. She sat back down on the edge of the bed, and closed her eyes, calling on the dream-like memories that lay on the fringes of her mind. "It started with a fight… or something that could have been a fight," Scarlett answered. "You as a wolf, and I was defending. I thought I was doing well, but found out you were just… toying with me…" Scarlett said, straining to remember. "I believe… you took a lock of my hair to prove it…" she said as she looked up at him. "Then we sat and talked for a time… before we…" she trailed off, an uncomfortable blush coming to her cheeks.
"Those instances were the hardest to forget," she told him. "I would wake up from those dreams unsure if they hadn't truly transpired because they were so vivid and felt so real," she told him.
She felt incredibly vulnerable telling him all of this, and it wasn't a feeling she enjoyed. All in all, she had viewed her alternate as a rather naive, almost timid sort, far too trusting. Being born a Genasi in Railoch had hardened her hard against the world, for she was one of the few of her kind, and because she was so different, she was off-putting to many people and generally avoided. In Baltil she was welcomed because she had proven her worth through hard work and apprenticeship. Honestly, if it had been her tiefling self that had been up against the scorpions, Scarlett wasn't sure that the outcome would have been as favorable.

He was taken back still the sight of a relic once believed to be lost with Scarlett. Now it seemed that it wasn’t the case, at least with one of the situations. It looked just as it had when he had first gave it to her. The woman before him had stated it was hers, and though he was a master of manipulation, he could tell with easy that she was sincere with it. She wasn’t lying, the locket had been hers. How his heart sank further into the abyss but still he kept himself together. Perhaps by fate itself or just by a streak of luck, her pendant opened and revealed it exactly what he had spoken of.
“I suppose that our questions have been answered, only for more to come to mind, no?”Xunatar listened intensely as this Scarlett explained who she was. Not one, but two of them had existed though this one, this woman had been the more dominate and absorbed the one he knew.
“It makes sense, the rifts had brought me here as well, though I proven much more stronger than the other me. But it was the opposite for you, I suppose.” But could there still be remnants of her within? The god leaned against the wall and thought deeply about this situation they found themselves in. There were…memories still intact. Or at the very least, scenes that had played in her mind even if they were just fragments.
“So you do remember me, or at least I feel familiar?” He sighed and rubbed at his temples before looking to her.
“I had met you…her at a waterfall. I have been in the form of a wolf and we talked extensively throughout the night. Can you recall any sort of memory about that?” He wanted to reach for her, to touch her once more to remind himself of what had been had and lost. But she was much different, how much was yet to be left in debate.
“Share with me what you can recall.”

Scarlett looked up at Xunatar as he expected an answer from her about where she had gotten the locket as he picked it up. "It's mine," she said hesitantly. It wasn't a lie, by all accounts it was hers. How she came by it, however, was far less easy to explain, and far less easy for her to even remember. "I can't open it," she admitted to him softly. "For as long as I've had it, I haven't been able to open it," she told him. Almost in defiance, the locket clicked open and inside was revealed a lock of white hair. She reached out and took the locket and clicked it shut again.
"It is mine, and it isn't at the same time," she sighed as she stuffed it into the satchel again. "I've had it since the opening of the rifts all over Revaliir," she told him. "It belonged to the girl… to the ME, I guess that came from that other world," she told him before she sat down on the edge of the bed again. "I guess when we became one I came out stronger than she did… if what I remember is really memory, it is all hazy… like a dream," she told him. "I've always just tried to ignore it, really, but there are times when I just can't," she told him. "Like when I saw you before I passed out when you brought me here."

The lord was still coming to terms with his darkened heart given some false hope that was for naught in the end. Whoever this Scarlett was, she wasn’t the one that he had known from the other world. Terrible feelings overcame him, wrenching him from the pits of his stomach. It was an awful long time since he had felt them. Regret, sorrow, pain. The demon, for all the power at his disposal, he could not regain the woman that was destined to be his queen. But it was something he had once buried so deep inside once, he would do so again whenever she would depart from here. There was no point in forcing her to stay even if she was the one he had lost. He did find some comfort in her words though, which made him chuckle softly if just for the moment.
Xunatar frowned deeply but he’d rather have this charade over with once and for all. She seemed to be in agreement as she started to prepare her things. He didn’t bother to watch her and hoped that when she crossed through the portal, he would be rid of these negative feelings that even gods were vulnerable to. Although he heard the spillage of her things from the bag, he refrained still from taking notice until something told him to see what the problem was. From the corner of his eye, he glanced upon several things before those blue orbs fell onto the locket. He was left speechless and he turned fully around to see it once more.
“Where did you get that?”, he spoke in a much quieter voice. Kneeling down, he inspected it closely before confirming that it was the very one.
“That was…a gift from long time ago. Long before I ascended, there was this woman I met. She carries both the very name and eyes you have, and I gave it to her because I fancied her greatly.” His mind trailed off into a time that was very distant now. What would have became of them had things worked out differently? Again he chastised himself for worrying too much about the past instead of the present time. Drawing himself back on his feet, Xunatar looked to her, again he could see the demoness’ image alongside hers. It was simply torture for him to bare it like this.
“If I remember correctly, the locket contains that of my hair, or used to be. Scarlett…she had wanted to keep me close to her at all times, was her explanation.”

Xunatar claiming not to be a cruel deity all the time struck Scarlett almost as an ironic truth which she found herself voicing.
"Sometimes lies are kinder than reality," she muttered softly. It struck a cord in her, almost as though she had said those very words to someone before. She found herself looking to the side, confused as he told her she reminded him of someone from his past. That couldn't have been a coincidence, and all things considered she doubted that it was just a chance thing that she had ended up there. Now, she, by all means, did not believe in fate, but rather that she was in control of her own destiny, but this was even enough to make her wonder if there was something more at work here. Slowly, she got up off the bed as the Lord of Lies was kind enough to create her a portal. Karith was a fair distance from Baltil, but she was grateful that he was willing to help her get that far.
"Thank you…" she said slowly as she looked around for her bag. She found it sitting nearby and as she grabbed the satchel, the flap fell open and several of the contents spilled out. Among several crystal vials of potions of various colors, a couple different tools of the mining variety was a silver locket. Scarlett knelt down and hurriedly began stuffing the items back into her bag.
She reached out to grab the locket, but her hand recoiled slightly.

Her attitude had left much to be desired, and though he had great patience, at this time he didn’t feel like being tested. He hungered for knowledge of her and didn’t want to have to diddy dawdle around to get what he wanted. Still he had to refrain from stirring her even more, else it was going to take more effort and time than he wished. Xunatar shook his head,
“I know of nothing else as to why you were summoned to my islands. Perhaps it was a whim after all, but considering you were in Baltil, my power is weakened overall in Parvpora.” He didn’t mind revealing the knowledge since most already knew the divines weren’t as powerful there, and he hardly believe the Cradle was able to draw out its energy on its own accord. But she didn’t seem to be lying to him, that much he could see.
It didn’t take much for him to see that she was reluctant in giving him her name. He had other ways of prying it out, but he was trying to be subtle about it. Even if he wanted to, he wouldn’t do anything against her, not as long as he was haunted by seeing that of Scarlett in her. The Voice had been wise to pick such a person to mirror when he had first saw it for that very reason. Perhaps it was yet another trick to test him.
He watched silently, his eyes glued to her as she went for a long time in refusing him the one thing he wanted to know now until it seemed too much for her. The moment she echoed the name that lurked in his mind, the god felt as though he would stumble onto the ground even with all his power around him. His eyes widened before he cast them away from her and looked to the ground. It couldn’t have been. Even with that and the image he saw before, it couldn’t have been her. Her appearance differed from that he remembered, but…there had been many things that occurred since his time from the other realm. He heard the rest of her words, yes, but they felt like they were miles away from him as he considered fate to be the cruelest game towards him.
For a long time Xunatar seemed as though he was in his own little world, away from the Cradle or Scarlett. It spoke in how his eyes dulled and he felt something he hadn’t in a long time- pain from inside him. The demon lifted his gaze up and recollected himself,
“Usually yes…but you had proved yourself in slaying the creature. I do not like to entertain my guest if they are deceased after going through such trials. I am not a cruel deity, sometimes.” He held onto his head, contemplating his next move. She didn’t seem like she had remembered him, if she was the very Scarlett he adored.
“No, I am clearly aware of that, Scarlett.” It was even painful to him to speak her name, and it annoyed him greatly.
“I think there had been some misunderstanding. You had reminded me of someone familiar from a life long ago. Perhaps I have been wrong or mislead by memories. Given your…reluctance in being here, I can show you a way off these grounds then.” Xunatar frowned as he summoned a portal nearby and turned away from her.
This will bring you to Karith, the furthest I can extend my power from here before it weans.” The god was clueless on knowing what to do or say rather than to try and push her away in case he wasn’t mistaken. Perhaps it was a kindness to them both, seeing how much different they seemed from what could have been an eternity.

She raised an eyebrow at his explanation at what might have happened to summon his portal to her.
"I highly doubt that I summoned it on my own," she said. "Half conscious after an explosion knocks me off of a rocky ledge and sending me hurtling towards a river of magma half a league below me? Yeah, last thing I was think was that I needed to drop in unannounced on the Lord of Lies," she said sharply. "Yes, I know who you are. I know of you… but to say that I personally have met you would be a stretch," she replied. She wasn't about to come out and explain anything to a man who could use such knowledge against her.
Him asking for her name was one such thing she was not in the mood to share. Sure it would have been polite, but even she knew that there was great power in one's name. But he was expectant, and frankly, she wasn't in much of a position to be unforthcoming. She sighed grumpily and turned her gaze towards the window, away from the hauntingly familiar face of the god.
"Scarlett," she said and pursed her lips. "My name is Scarlett. I'm an Alchemic Artificer and Demolitions Expert from the Artisan Guilds of Baltil," she said formally introducing herself without giving out her last name. "People call me Fireheart."
She glanced back at him, brow still furrowed. "Why did you bring me here? Last I heard is that someone had to successfully reach your domain for you to take interest in them. What made you come out to help little ol' me?" she asked, confused. Frankly, he was chaos, which would have made sense. She rubbed the spot where the scorpion stinger had torn her skin, feeling the pale white line that had been left behind after the healing. "Not that I'm not grateful… but I didn't exactly come here with the intent of seeking you out…"

The moment she was coming back into consciousness, Xunatar asked her, perhaps a little too strongly. But in his mind, he had to make sense of why he saw that vision. Why did it come back to him after so long? She reminded him too much like her, though there were features that were missing up until he saw Scarlett through her. He could see the confusion arising in her as well, before it fell back and she answered his questions, though with bluntness oozing behind her tongue. Such did not bother him as he was piecing together her reason for being in the Ring when she had stumbled onto it accidentally.
“It may have been something in your thoughts that summoned a portal to my abode.” It made sense to him, but then again, chaos was indeed senseless. For all he knew, she could have been malicious enough for one to simply come to her. He knew nothing about her other than her face and form reminding him of another. His fingers slowly stroke his chin in thought,
“It is not quite common for my portals to reach out to those that have no intention of coming to this domain.“Staring into those eyes of hers, he needed to tear himself away from them and he did so. He couldn’t allow for distractions to come, not when he needed answers to the list of question that only grew with each moment.
“Do you know of who I am? You had spoken of me as if you did know after the fight.” His tone was serious as it could muster.
“I am Xunatar, the lord over this place.” Soon his demeanor changed like the tides of the sea, becoming much calmer than he had at the start.
He had to remind himself to be like honey rather than vinegar in this instance. He had to know more about her or else his constant wondering would bother him like a terrible itch that wouldn’t cease.
“I brought you back here after you fainted from your injuries and saved you. You have yet to tell me your name, miss. Would you be so kind to state it?”

It was his face that had always lurked in the back of her mind, those same ice blue orbs, the white hair. Never had she met him, never had she truly believed he really existed. Why she would question it, it was a surprise even to her. Her mind had not been quite right since the rifts had opened up. She couldn't be sure what she remembered anymore. She had always thought him just a dream. But he had been there with the scorpions, the one who egged her on to finish out the fight.
Even in her unconscious state she was struggling to understand it, as blips and visions of old forgotten dreams resurfaced again, dreams that might have in fact been memories. Things became even more jumbled as she felt the burning sensation that had spread through her arm and chest intensified for a moment and then fled again from the same wound. The pounding in her head dissipated as well, and the cuts, bruises and abrasions she had received in the fight and in the blast that had first knock her clean out of Baltil melted away.
Consciousness returned to her, her mind still fuzzy and confused as she came to. She was coherent enough to know that she was in unfamiliar territory as she slowly pushed herself up on her elbows, a hand coming up to rub her face. Her amethyst eyes focused, and there he was again, that same handsome face, the eerily blue eyes, the white hair. She recoiled back on the bed away from him, not out of fear, but uncertainty, her red hair falling about her face and shoulders messily.
His tone suggested that he was just as perplexed, if not more so than she was, and her brow furrowed as he demanded to know who she was and how she had gotten there. God or not, she had enough dignity to be affronted by how he spoke to her. She did, however, deign to answer his questions, simply because he might be courteous to do the same for her.
"Last I knew, I was in Baltil, working on an excavation site," she answered flatly. "Next thing after that, I'm falling through the air after an explosion and being chased by giant scorpions on floating islands miles above the ocean. Your turn, how the hell did I get here in the first place?"

The woman had struck a chord in him; her appearance had him think of times long ago. Another life before this one where he was an aspiring terror among the masses. He couldn’t help but to think of such times when he glanced onto her, but now wasn’t the time for a stroll down memory lane. Whoever she was, he wanted to see if she would be able to thrive in these wild lands of his or would she end up like many before her. He paced backwards away from her as she renewed her focus upon the scorpion. The lord’s eyes anchored onto the potions she withdrew before running towards her pursuer. Meanwhile he was content with watching from afar as he fell back into the air as if he was sitting upon a throne observing everything. The second scorpion was succumbing to the injuries made by the wicked flames he set out and before long boredom took upon him quickly and drew him back to the fight at hand.
Despite her words, she seemed rather talented in the art of combat, at least enough to deal with deadly creature. Once more Xunatar couldn’t help but to continue ponder about her, though he had become so submersed into it that he had been surprised when her heard her yell from getting struck by its tail. Even then he didn’t interfere any more than what he already had. She fought through the pain, likely due to the adrenaline pulling in her and her scheme had delivered her victory. Some of the remains of the bug had flew over to him, coating his cloak a bit and he leisure looked upon the stains and wiped off the excess. Ceasing his hovering, he fell back onto the ground and approached the woman. Though the victor, she had received some injuries, particularly the poison that was coursing through her. Removing his hood, he let the thicket of white locks to escape and he peeked over her with those icy blue orbs and was taken back by her reaction before she faded.
While he wished to learn more about her, such a thing wouldn’t come to pass if she was left in the condition she was. So he carefully picked her up and soon they both were in the citadel. Not only that, but they were in one of the rooms that were reserved for those in his flock. Since she wasn’t conscious to make the room into her own, he had made it rather plain simple for now with a large bed in the center. The rest would be worried about later when she awoken enough to answer the questions that were swimming in his head.
For now, he brought his hand up towards the wound she had received- first he brought forth some of his power to remove the toxic from her blood and then he begun to seal the wound and prevent any further blood lost. While he wasn’t used to using treating his guest as such a rarity- Xunatar preferred to keep his company alive. Strangely, he had found them far more entertaining than he did with corpses. The process took merely moments for him and with that she was repaired.
His hand brushed away from her and his eyes lingered upon her form. The Cradle, seemingly alive and having a mind of its own, felt its master’s curiosity and confusion and sought to react in tandem with the woman. Before his eyes, he started to see a ghost in her, one that he hadn’t seen since the conclave. He saw
her in his guest, he saw Scarlett. He stumbled back slightly, annoyed that once more he was reminded of his past life. Why of all things was she coming back into his memory? They hadn’t seen one another in so long, and when he went to look at her again, the image was gone and his guest came back to his eyes. He stood by her for the rest of the time and once he felt her start to awaken, he sighed and sought to get to the bottom of this.
“Who are you and where did you come from?”

The presence of another being was not lost on her, but it was little matter compared to the bigger menaces in front of her. Her flames licked at and scorched the nearest one, but it seemed to have little effect. Little effect, that was until the scorching hot yellow-orange flames turned an alarming shade of black and the scorpion shrieked and screamed as it reared back, the intense heat of the black completely burning though the hard shell. The flames around her died down suddenly as she looked at her hands, unsure where the black flames had come from. Then she felt him, close behind her, close enough to whisper in her ear. She didn't look back. She felt his power radiating, and she wasn't sure if she wanted to look back or not. So she didn't.
However, she heeded his words of encouragement, and the flames started up again. Her mind raced as the remaining scorpion charged her and a thought occurred to her. She shoved her hands into her bag again and pulled out two more of her blasting potions before she took a running start forward. As the scorpion lunged at her, she jumped and used a flame strike to propel her up and over the pincers to land on the back carapace. In response, the scorpion began striking out with its tail, and Scarlett had to roll and dodge while trying to remain upon the beast's back.
"I'm educated and well-bred I am NOT a fucking warrior!" Scarlett roared as the stinger came down again. She dodged narrowly to the side and for a brief second the stinger lodge into the thick armor and was stuck just long enough for the Fire Genasi to lodge the concussive bottle into a gap in the stinger's plates before it was freed. As the scorpion wrenched its tail free, the tip of the stinger ripped past her face, grazing her shoulder as it whipped past. She felt the burn of the venom and yelped out in pain before she shoved the second concussive bottle into the wedge in the armor that the stinger had made and jumped clear, flinging herself backwards and sideways off of the scorpion. As she did so, two fireballs flew from her hands, aimed at the bottles she had left behind.
The blasts of pyromantic energy ignited the bottles and a dual explosion blasted her back and away again, and tore through the stinger and the body of the scorpion, sending a spray of orange goo across the arid landscape, splattering across the ground as it fell motionless.
From where she had skidded across the ground, Scarlett lay on her back, panting, but lifted her head to see if her ruse had worked. When she saw the scorpion effectively splattered, she raised her hands in triumph from her place on the ground and whooped in triumph, the flames from around her extinguishing.
"Hell yeah!" she yelled, and then hissed as she was reminded that she hadn't come out quite unscathed. She put a hand to her chest and it came back red with blood from where the stinger had torn across her clavicle and shoulder. From the burn she could feel that she had definitely been infected by venom. She felt the world going fuzzy, the effects of her previous injuries finally catching up to her. Just before she passed out, she saw his face. She… she knew him, somehow.
"You…" she said, trailing off as she lost consciousness completely and lay at the mercy of the God of Deceit and Chaos.

It was a rarity for Xunatar to come upon the islands of the Ring; he was more content with being on the Cradle or perhaps elsewhere in the realm. But today he wanted to test out the horrors or pleasures that they typically provided his would be guests prior to arriving to his home. So far he had visited three of the islands; the first seemed to be an endless field of tall green grass. Nothing out of the ordinary as he crossed it and made it to the next one. The second had left more of an impressive to him for he found a lovely skeletal dragon that immediately took to the cloaked man of white with black streaks. Beneath his hood, Xunatar smiled widely just as the beast was ready to sink its boney maw onto his form. One of the rings he wore glimmered just as he was about to meet with the dragon before it and his body immediately disappeared into another plane. The beast looked and searched for its meal before quickly moving away in search for better prey.
Once the coast was clear, the ring returned the demon back into the realm and he stroked its gems softly. He could feel the power that still radiated from it along with that of the other two rings as he peeked around the murky bog he was in. From the distance, he could see the undead creature having find a new quarry to chase after and he left it be. The Ring was capable of being anything and summoning nearly anything at its own will- even the God himself could be surprised at their whimsical state. As he walked on, his form faded from this reality and into the next island.
This one seemed to be a withering wasteland, barren of nearly any sort of life. Or at least it seemed to be that way. The lord looked down to see enormous footprints among the cracked earth and he could feel the scorching heat beat down upon him. But Xunatar merely shrugged it off and went to search out whatever had just been here. He would not have to wait too long before he felt the land shake with great force. Pausing, his head shifted towards the direction it came from and he could hear what sounded like explosions. Apparently someone came prepared, or at least had some fire power before coming to these parts. In an instant, he teleported and came to see a rather entertaining scene; a young woman was about fight fend off two giant scorpions. However when his eyes set upon her, something felt…wrong. The lord didn’t know why at first but something about her struck something within him. Looking to the Arachnids with this feeling still immersed with him, Xunatar felt that the odds weren’t really fair now. Normally he would not interfere with this sort of business, believing that a person must prove their worth should they hope of ever acquiring his audience but he would make an exception.
His hand stretched out as he drew himself closer to the fight, each step of his bare feet feeling the warmth from the ground below. He held it towards the closest scorpion to him and waved at it. With the motion, black streams of fire ignited a few feet from him and towards it, ensnaring the beast into a circle of inferno. There would be no escape for it, and she would be left with the other one. He simply wanted to make the fight fairer, he wasn’t going to be completely easy on her. His pacing came to a halt when he reached her, his hood head lifted to reveal pale blue eyes that stared as though contemplating something. Something about her was familiar, too familiar that it plagued him a little.
“Go on”, he urged her softly, his head gestured to her opponent that scurried over towards them.
“Truly like a bug to the flame…”

Wind bit and whipped around her as she fell, the flames in her hair going out from the buffet. The concussive had left her more than just a little dazed, and a full blackout had engulfed her, however fleeting it was. When consciousness did return, it wasn't until the ground was creeping up on her, and what she got a view of was the earth rushing up to meet her. She raised her arms to cover her face with a yelp before he descent was slowed to a near halt and she was dropped almost gently onto grass that shifted into sand as she tried to stand up. She slipped as the sudden onset of dunes shifted beneath her feet.
Keep it together, Scarlett. She swallowed hard as she got back to her feet, the sand receding to leave her standing on the ruined pillars of something as again the scenery changed again. This time, however, it seemed to stick. Fiery red hair fell messily around her face as amethyst hued eyes took stock of exactly where she was.
"What the?!" she exclaimed out loud. The last thing she remembered was being blown of a rock ledge in the mines of Baltil. Now she was staring around at a serious of floating islands, and while they looked pleasant, she had already had showing of how… well changing the islands really were.
A million things were running through her head at that moment, but most of all, she was wondering how the hell she had managed to get from Baltil to where she was… which, based on the floating islands that were miles above the ocean… she had to guess was the realm of the Kitsune. She had been keeping up with the changes in the pantheons, so she knew at least something about the newest gods.
Of course, the last thing she had ever planned was ending up on said realm. She was content to watch the Gods from a distance, though, considering the proximity of the Temple Library of Tar Eisalae to Baltil, she had actually considered visiting for the sake of study.
These thoughts were interrupted by a ground shaking tremor, and she looked around. Two giant scorpions, easily the size of dragons were stomping up to her, pincers clacking.
Perfect… Scarlett reached into her bag and pulled out two vials full of a bubbling orange liquid. "Well come on then, uglies," she said, as her eyes began to glow, and her hair went from fiery red to completely flaming.
With a shout, she flung the vials as the giant scorpions before she turned on her booted heel and took off running as best as she could. The terrain went from sandy to hard rock as she ran, the resulting dual explosions giving her a bit of a head start, though it certainly didn't dent their hard armor.
She reached the edge of the island she was on and took a running leap and felt the exhilarating rush of adrenaline at the sensation of falling before she landed and rolled onto the next island. She panted and looked back at the other island, feeling pretty confident that the scorpions would not be following her.
However, the scorpions had a different idea. Who would have thought that something that big could jump that far?
Scarlett swore in Primordial before she was up and running again, her hands delving into her pack again, and throwing vial after vial over her shoulder trying to slow down the persuing beasts. Nothing seemed to work. So she continued running, and still the giant arachnids pursued. She came to the edge of this island, and skidded to a stop. This island was too far away from the others to try and make the jump. She swore again, but turned to face the challenge.
"Think you can take me you oversized bugs?" she asked the beasts as fire flared up around her. "Come and get me then!"
