Pyzis walked with her left hand brushing against the cold stone walls. Despite the way, they looked the moss clinging to them made them feel slimy. She had been traveling int he maze for hours now, enjoying the crisp fall air, but dreading whatever it was she would find at the center. The sounds of tortured screams pierced the air. They happened occasionally, drawing the occasional hero into the depths of the maze. She had entered hoping to come across the rare moss that grew in the center of the labyrinth that only was accessible once a year at the full moon in October. The plant was known for its incredible healing powers and stopped blood flow from wounds almost instantly. She had heard rumors from other Alchemist's, but none dared to enter within these walls. She had encountered a few banshees and burned them.

Now that she was getting closer to the middle of the labyrinth Pyzis could feel the air getting cooler. Hesitantly she lit her right hand while keeping the left on the wet stone. The warmth emanated from her palm, calming the nervousness she felt. As she rounded the corner, she entered into an open area in the middle was a set of stairs leading to a square room. A shrill scream resounded from inside the room and Pyzis shivered.

Slowly she made her way up the stairs, increasing the warmth in her palm until it blazed brightly. There was no way she was going in without some defense since there was no way to know what she was going to encounter here. When she reached the top, the room was glowing with moss that clung to walls. In the center of the room stood one of the most twisted trees in the forest. It's branches curled in on itself as if outwardly showing the agony she knew it was in. Swinging from one of the thickest branches was a noose and in the noose was a woman. Her loose gown hung in tatters around her legs. She opened her long dead mouth and let out an ear-splitting scream. Pyzis felt the blood drain from her face and she hurriedly turned from the woman to the walls of glowing moss. With clumsy hands, she collected the plant, stuffing it haphazardously in her sack alongside the blackened hearts from the banshees. When she had her fill, Pyzis glanced one more time at the grotesque sight and sent up a tiny prayer to whatever God would listen to release the souls trapped here. That was when she remembered there were no Gods here.
