Cha'Kwe'Tza made a warding gesture with his hands. He did not know what kind of evil sorcery was bringing the headless child in front of him back to life, but he didn't like it. A wicked shiver ran from the base of his skull to the tip of his tail, the appendage flicking angrily back and forth a few times. The girl was making a strange stuttering sound that the humans called laughing. Looking from the piece of paper that she had thrust into his hands, then back to the girl, Cha'Kwe'Tza crumpled it up and jammed it into the small bag on his side. He could hardly speak the language here let alone read it. The girl went on to explain that there was a set of items out in the woods, and that if he were to retrieve them, then there might be a reward of some sorts for him. Cha'Kwe'Tza had eventually figured out that this could be an item of some power, and worthy of recovery so that he could bring it back to the High Priests.

Striding through the chaotic mess of people and tents that the humans called a 'Carnival', Cha'Kwe'Tza stood almost a head over nearly everyone, and had no trouble seeing. A motley assortment of people in all sorts of strange and outlandish clothing in a variety of colours were strolling amongst a group of the tents. Ignoring them, Cha'Kwe'Tza turned and walked out the far side of the grounds from which he had entered, figuring that this was as good as any other direction to head off in. Approximately thirty yards into the treeline a human male came staggering out of the foliage, pale as the moon, and holding a small rock in his hands whilst gibbering about having found something. Leaving the muttering human behind, Cha'Kwe'Tza carried on into the woods.

A short time later, the large Reptilian came upon another human male, slim as a spear and not quite as tall as himself. He was trying to creep out to the end of a large tree branch, which had a length of rope tied off in a noose dangling from the end. The closer the man got to the noose, the more the bough bounced up and down, until finally the thing snapped with a crack that seemed louder than it was in comparison to the almost dead silence of the surroundings. After the dust settled a little, Cha'Kwe'Tza stepped towards the fallen branch to retrieve the noose, as it was one of the items that the girl was looking for. A twig snapped under one of his clawed feet, and the human male spun to see what was there. When he saw what was before him, his jaw dropped and his eyes opened wide with fear.

Staring him in the eyes, Cha'Kwe'Tza walked up beside him and casually leaned over to rip the noose from the branch. Slinging it over his shoulder, he turned to start walking back towards the carnival. After a few steps, there was a dim light that hovered at chest height, that flitted from tree to tree. Yellow eyes narrowing, Cha'Kwe'Tza growled at the mysterious light. As it drew closer, it grew in size and brightness until it defied all logic and transformed into the shape of a translucent human woman. Everything felt wrong though, as the moment the woman took form her hands turned into dagger like talons and an ear piercing scream rent through the air. Meeting her challenge with a bestial roar of his own, Cha'Kwe'Tza revered the grip on his spear and heaved it with his tremendous strength. He was terribly surprised when the weapon sailed straight through the figure with barely a whisper.
Ynnarah

Character Info
Name: Ynnarah
Age: late teens
Alignment: TG
Race: Lycan
Gender: Female
Class: Starsinger
Silver: 222
The idea of hunting down banshees was both exciting and a bit terrifying.  Just how would she deal with one once she met it?  Ynnarah didn't quite have the answer yet, but she wanted to try and put some of the spirits ton rest.  at least if she could.  The headless child at the entrance had been quite creepy, but it didn't stop the young wolf.  She had memorized the list of items that she was supposed to find, and her green eyes darted around the darkened woods.  They lit on a ring first, it was made of gold and twisted into a braid.  Reaching for it, Ynnarah reminded herself that it was likely she would disturb a spirit first.  That was enough to mentally prepare.

When the banshee did appear, Ynnarah thought she was ready enough.  Smiling at the screaming wraith, she sketched a sigil in the air.  A bolt of pure energy, glinting silverwhite hurled through the ghostly form.  It was a sacred energy, and the banshee screamed even louder before exploding into a ball of mist.  She had a feeling the rest wouldn't be that easy, but it was a start.  When she heard the roaring coming from her left, she darted through the woods.

The strange lizard-like person didn't startle her too much, Ynnarah had seen quite a few strange things in her life already.  But the banshee was a different story.  Grabbing the spear just before it buried itself into a tree, Ynnarah whispered a prayer to her aunt, blessing the weapon.  She yelled "Over here!  I think you can hurt it now", pointing at the spear that now glowed with faint energy.  It was just a matter of the lizard-man reaching her before the banshee did.

You reached for the secret too soon, you cried for the moon.

Cha'Kwe'Tza tore his ancient stone sword from its place by his side to destroy the creature in front of him. There was a shout, and a very young looking human female stood behind the Banshee. In the darkness, all that Cha'Kwe'Tza could really make of her at the distance was that she had a light coloured hair, possibly what the humans called 'blonde'. She had apparently done something to his spear upon catching it, for she claimed that he could wound the foe that stood between them. Gaze sliding quickly from the Banshee to the girl and back, Cha'Kwe'Tza started to move quite quickly for his large size. Clawed feet ripping chunks of earth from the ground, he ran towards the newcomer, tail whipping sideways to maintain balance.

Shrieking once again, the Banshee made her own move to intercept him and got into his path before Cha'Kwe'Tza could retrieve his spear. Slowing down as fast as he could and remain upright, Cha'Kwe'Tza pivoted on one foot while stepping forward with the other, simultaneously bringing his sword whistling around through the air. Claws outstretched, the Banshee managed to rake a hand across Cha'Kwe'Tza's scaly chest before his massive blade swished through the air. Taking a step back, Cha'Kwe'Tza looked down at his chest and saw a small trickle of blood ooze from the wound. Knowing that he'd be fine, he returned his sight to his foe. The Banshee was slowly sinking to her knees, hands pressed against her chest as if to keep blood in from an imaginary wound. Her eyes were wide with fear that probably hadn't been felt in centuries. Raising his weapon in front of him, Cha'Kwe'Tza noticed that the runes inscribed along the centre of the blade seemed to flicker a little before dying. Apparently killing something from another realm wasn't quite enough to spark the flames within.

Hanging the weapon from its place, Cha'Kwe'Tza strode towards the girl. He was curious now. Usually human women ran from him, especially the young ones. Holding out an open hand towards his spear, Cha'Kwe'Tza tilted his head slightly before speaking, "You not run from me? Why not running?" Although Cha'Kwe'Tza had been around enough humans over the past few weeks, and had a passable understanding of the language, actually getting the words out still sometimes proved difficult for him.
