I am a teaching assistant and Masters student at the University of Texas at Dallas. I've been known to put off important things for writing, but ultimately I can't be relied on to post between Monday and Thursday. ;)

All About Chae

Appearance
Chae is an average-sized halfling and therefore a very small person. Her hair is long and brown, her curls stringy and frayed at the ends. Her eyes are brown and her skin is pale. She doesn’t keep weight on, since she’s not technically living. When she hasn’t consumed a soul in a while, or when her phylactery is very far away, she seems starved and even discolored, while the necromancy that animates her gives a blue-green shine to her scowling eyes. The opposite is true when she is well fed and close to home: her hair gains color, her face fills out, and even her mood can be improved. Despite her generally deathly appearance she likes to dress well, in dark earthy velvets that cover her wrist to toe.

History
Chae was resurrected by a well-intentioned necromancer who thought he could reverse his crimes against life by summoning a great healer. She does not know him or his intentions, as he died to fuel her raising. In the short time since then, she has been researching the circumstances of her rebirth and collecting the tools to build a decent phylactery. She remembers little of her life before then and, while she expects the memories to come in time, has not yet acted on old instincts toward generosity or holy magic. While her motives are not necessarily evil they are rather selfish; Chae has devoted all of her quickly returning power to the pursuit of knowledge, unaware of liches’ innate thirst for arcane power.

Common Robes

Simple, loose-fitting garments made from ordinary material, these plain robes are suitable for general, everyday wear.

Fire Ball

The caster summons a ball of fire and hurls it at their target.

Mage's Staff

This staff is crafted with a glass ball at the top. Used for channeling powerful magic.

Strength

Increases the physical strength of the user for a short time.

Weaken

Causes the victim to become physically weakened.

Kindness

A sword called Kindness...yes kill them with kindness! This sword is a majestic masterpiece that speaks to its owner. It is far better to kill with kindness than to hound an enemy with insults.

Strangle

Ethereal tendrils reach out and strangle the target, preventing them from speaking, and, in time, suffocating them.

Erathis

Raised by a powerful necromantic ritual, Erathis is an undead dire owl. She serves as mount, sentry, and companion to Chae. She is 15 feet tall with a 43-foot wingspan. She can be spoken to telepathically, usually taking a proud (i.e. snarky) demeanor.

Shadow Weaving

This spell allows the caster to manipulate small amounts of shadow with their mind.

Shadow Meld

This spell allows the caster to shroud themselves into the shadows of their surroundings. The effectiveness of the meld is depended on the amount of shadows supplied in the area.

Animate Dead

Animate the corpses of the dead to fight alongside you.

Blood Oath

Believed to be a remnant of blood magic in Revaliir, this spell allows the caster to magically bind themselves to another. Those bound share both pain and emotion. The binding can be permanent if consensual, or temporary if forced.

Wisp Shawl

Crafted from the memories of banshee this cloth glows with an eerie presence. It lights up dark places and can be worn as a scarf or shawl.

Gate Travel

This spell allows the caster to open a portal to another location anywhere in Revaliir.

Hibernation

Causes the target to fall asleep for a small period of time.

Aura Sight

This spell allows the caster to sense a magical aura around a person, or to sense another's presence even if the caster cannot see them. Also allows the caster to sense magical presence up to 40 yards away.

Blade of Dancing Heat

This knife is formed of a unique metal that can put out various degrees of heat according to the wielder's wishes. It can even become hot enough to instantly cauterize wounds.

Spectral Arrow

The caster summons a magical arrow that needs no bow to pierce a target.

Poinsettia Hairpin

A hairpin with an intricately detailed poinsettia made out of beautiful jewels. Wearer use caution, for the tips of the hairpin are coated in a poison that can cause serious illness. It deals as a small shank when needed.
Enhances poison magic.

Santa Sac

A festive mystical item that is almost like a bottomless pit! It can hold any number of items in it without gaining that much weight. Last seen over the shoulder of a fat man in a red suit.

Tinkerer's Goggles

These goggles allow the person wearing them to see twenty feet ahead through any material, except through deadzones.

Sapphire Sword

A beautifully smithed blade made from sapphires that has a chilling aura to it. It is most likely carved by the dwarves of Baltil. The blade itself glows like a thousand stars.

This powerful and rare artifact has a rather interesting property. It allows the bearer to travel backwards and spend up to one hour reliving some moment in their past. However, they cannot change or influence the past in any way.

Curse

This spell supernaturally weakens the target's strength, dexterity, and magickal ability.

Hellfire

Summon the fires of hell itself, causing massive damage, though at a cost to one's soul.

Summon Item

The caster summons an item, normally armor or weapons, that they own from the aether.

Poison

This spell poisons a single target, draining their strength and stamina until the target is cured or the spell's effects wear off.

Spectral Blades

This spell summons several small, ethereal daggers that fly at a target.
