Theme: That Person's Name Is Appearance and Personality: Fey are long-lived creatures, well-known for their impressive lifespans and youthful appearance. Cymbel is 200 years of age, but looks as if he were in his early twenties. Being born of noble blood Cymbel was blessed with fine features, a fair complexion, bright blue eyes, and silvery-white hair. Standing at 6'0", his long hair reaches just above his waist secured in a ponytail while his bangs hang about his face. With the elegance and demeanor of a noble, he is the very image of a perfect prince. However beneath the veneer of gentility and courtly grace, he is anything but the image he presents himself to be. His glittering facade is a protective shell to hide himself within, constructed over the years to mask a lack of confidence and insecurity. He takes every step with trepidation, fearing the moment when it will all fall to pieces. His family always considered him to be the weakest link, and he himself believed it too.
His conflicting desires of self-protection and for companionship puts him in a dangerously precarious emotional situation. A kind heart enclosed in several layers of defense mechanisms, he appears aloof and reserved. His actions and words can easily be misinterpreted as being taciturn or prideful from his poor socialization skills outside of interactions with other nobles. As a result of the authoritarian perfectionism from his family, he developed severe social anxiety that causes him to panic when faced with unexpected situations. Having experienced the pain of constantly working to live up to impossible expectations, he doesn't place expectations on others and will not pressure them into doing things they are not willing to do.
His wish to be useful and to help others stems from his own feelings of lacking self-worth. Thus he developed skills to support and aid those in need. In combat he is a capable sorcerer and swordsman, utilizing illusions and spells to keep enemies at a distance. Ultimately he prefers to resolve conflicts without the use of violence, but is prepared to act in self-defense.
History:Born as the seventh child to the Belerian house, he was the youngest out of all of his brothers. He was very close to his mother in his early years, who soon passed away from an illness. Avoided and ignored by his siblings, he spent more time with tutors and books than with his own family. As he was born into a noble house, he was merely seen as another competitor for their father's favor. His father, Aloysius Severyn Belerian, was an austere man who instilled into all of his sons that they must always strive for perfection and to become perfection themselves. With the loss of his mother and lack of rapport from his own blood, the increasing amount of expectations and pressure led Cymbel to turn inward.
Recognizing that he would live a life confined by the traditions and regulations of nobility, he stole away on the night of a new moon and left his family's mansion for the outside world. There he would be free from the eyes which looked down on him, free to choose whomever he wanted to be. He started a new life in Nisshoki, far from Feeorin and his past. With much effort he was able to purchase himself a place of his own, a rather ramshackle estate tucked away on the outskirts of the city. It was overgrown, abandoned, and in disrepair–but little by little, with what he could save from working jobs in the capital it was gradually restored to its former glory. Under the pseudonym of 'Tsukigata', he worked as a florist at the Amakusa Flower Shop where he could put his knowledge of flowers and their associated meanings to good use.
A few years after becoming a full-time florist, he sought to strengthen himself by learning swordsmanship from one of the famed schools in the kingdom. With much difficulty, he was accepted into a swordsmanship school under the tutelage of a former horitshi thanks to some clever thinking from another hopeful wishing to learn the way of the sword. Unfortunately this made them fall out of favor with the master of the school from the very start, and they both were subjected to twice the amount of harsh training than the senior pupils. Those were the most trying times he endured since his departure from his place of birth, as he suffered ostracism at the hands of his upperclassmen. However it was under such circumstances where he met the person who would become his dearest friend and later on–his spouse. After surviving an unexpected shadoka attack on the school during Ignius, they began to open up to each other, solidifying their friendship.
Following Shiloh's ascension to a member of the Conclave, he continued his work at the Amakusa flower shop while tending to his house in Nisshoki. Shortly after, they married and had two sons named Belen and Cyril. Not much has changed in their lives now that they are a married couple and his wife became a deity.
Clothing and Equipment:With a hooded traveler's cloak to keep the sun off his face, he wears common clothes to avoid drawing attention to himself. Should special occasions arise, he has a set of finer clothing to suit the situation. Among his worldly possessions are a well-crafted broadsword forged in fey design, and other necessities.
Talents and Abilities:He is skilled in the art of illusion as most fey are; particularly in disguising his voice, scent, and appearance. He is capable of mimicking other people's speech and mannerisms, but only to the extent of his knowledge. The greater understanding he has of the person in question, the better the mimicry will be. Agile and trained in fencing, he prefers a more defensive style in combat utilizing parries and ripostes. Accustomed to the dusky twilight of the Feeorin Forest, his vision is excellent in areas with low light conditions. Out of his desire to help others, he can mend everything save for the most grievous wounds with a touch, cure ailments both physical and magical, revive the fallen, and occasionally provide emotional support. In addition to his capabilities as a healer, he can create a thick mist of soporific vapor that moves like a thin layer of fog which slowly spreads over a five meter radius. He can also breathe out the vapor in small quantities if he wishes to use it without using it at its full power. Those who inhale it experience drowsiness and eventually fall into a deep slumber, depending on their willpower. However he is immune to it's effects. Some other miscellaneous skills he possesses include sewing, playing the harp, and extensive knowledge on the meanings behind various plants and flowers used in floral arrangements.
