Appearance and Personality:A young woman in her twenties, she stands at 5'10" with a lithe but lean build. Dark brown hair reaching past her shoulders frame her face with dark brown eyes bearing a sharp gaze. Her body and mannerisms are not very feminine due to the circumstances she grew up in, but that suits her just fine. Cautious and alert, she may give off an impression of being paranoid, though not without reason. From an early age she learned that the world is a dangerous place, and the only way to avoid trouble is to see it well before it comes into play. Contrary to what her taciturn demeanor and laconic speech imply, she is not the backstabbing type. She will not actively manipulate or betray others however should she learn that you have ill intentions, she will find ways to give you a hard time. She might not say anything about it, but don't expect her to risk her neck the next time you're in a difficult situation. She will forgive but she definitely won't forget. Those who prove their loyalty and trustworthiness will gain hers in return, the same goes for the opposite.
In battle she will aim to end conflicts using the most pragmatic approach, preferably quickly with the least amount of loss possible. Even if the odds are in her favor she will be on the lookout for anything unexpected, as she knows all too well that a single misstep can mean the difference between life and death. According to an old adage, whatever can go wrong–
will go wrong, at the worst possible moment. You can never have too many contingency plans.
She has a natural aversion towards human mages, and feels more comfortable in the presence of non-humans. She doesn't trust those with a human appearance as they could easily be hiding behind an illusion, aside from her bad past experiences. As for matters of romance, if she ever cared about such things she'd be heterosexual.
History:Shiloh's life has always been a hard one. Her parents were good people who passed away in her early childhood, and she was shuffled between distant relatives. After moving for the fourth time, she ran away and lived on her own in the woods following a severe bullying incident three months into the school year. There she met a female mountain troll and her two sons, and became a part of their family. She spent her adolescent years learning the ways of the world from her adoptive troll-mother and the otherworldly folk she encountered. Somewhere along the way, the kingdom's council of the magi proclaimed her guilty of treason, though the charges were false as they perceived her as a threat. Every time they tried to capture her she would find a way to escape, until finally they threw her into a coffin, bound it with chains, and buried her alive in an open grave. Whether by providence or misfortune; instead of suffocating to death six feet below the ground the coffin was transported to another plane of existence, entering Canelux. Freed by the damage done to the coffin upon impact, she obtained a new goal: to understand the inner workings of the world and possibly find a way back home.
With time, she has made a place for herself in Revaliir through hard work and investment. Beginning as a person who ran errands for the folk in Adeluna that nobody else would bother with, she gradually built up her reputation among the bounty hunters and odd-jobbers. Soon she was sending deliveries across Canelux and as word spread her quotas began to reach into Parvpora. Now the owner of a thriving business, she has expanded her courier services to include trading across the continents with her airship, the Clepsydra. The road to the present was marked with struggles and turmoil, some leaving lasting effects on her beliefs and opinions, but in general not much has changed. Unwilling to make the same mistakes as the deities of old, she refuses to forget that above all else–she is a servant of the people.
Ascension: The Wind Rises - Ascension [SOLO] Clothing and Equipment:Having most of the belongings on her person confiscated prior to her live burial she only has the clothes on her back, her trusty sword and dagger, and her traveler's sack containing an empty canteen and old tinderbox. She is dressed in a plain white tunic, brown culottes, a simple leather belt, sturdy leather boots, and leather armor beneath her clothes. With a bit of luck, she's managed to build up an extensive armory and an interesting collection of relics. Now the proud owner of a warship and several loyal crew members.
Talents and Abilities:Having lived half of her life in the wilds and the other half in the shadows of the rooftops, she has the agility and stealth befitting a thief if she had decided to become one. Her experiences in escaping from pursuers and encounters with otherworldly beings have honed her senses to be more acute than the average person as well as her wits. Her weapon preferences lean towards bladed weapons like swords and daggers, though with a bit of creativity anything can become a weapon. Dexterous and swift, she is also quite adept at breaking things–an uncanny ability she displayed from an early age. These traits combined make her an excellent saboteur. After all, your enemies can't attack you if you incapacitate them first. What she lacks in talent regarding elemental spells she makes up for in her above average magical resistance. Spending time around fickle magical beings who use magic freely does that to you.
