Hollywood Undead-City
A steed I was, a long time ago. Many years ago, a powerful angel raised an army to fight against a great god. These angels exercised the gift of free will, given to them by their creator, to choose evil over good. They believed themselves to be above people and their creator, and so chose to rebel against both. Animals, like angels, were also given free will by this god to choose. A small group of horses was discontent and unsatisfied serving as a beast of burden. They chose to side with the dark angels, who promised them great power and independence, and so they turned their back on men. These horses became the mounts of the great dark angels.
I was there at the war. I led the charge against the god's great army, as the mount of the great angel. The battle was long and hard and ended in our defeat. We were thrust from grace with the angels. As punishment for our betrayal, our corruption and evil and hatred warped our bodies, so that when we returned, we were unrecognizable. I was beautiful once, the most beautiful of all, which is why I was the leaders choice. When we fell, we were cursed by the angels to hunt man and beast until we met our final demise together, in eternal damnation. Caligo (Latin): darkness, fog, calamity, and confusion.
AppearanceThenWhen she was a normal horse, Caligo was a beautiful black mare, very prized and descended from great lines of royal stock. She had a bright black coat that shined brightly during the day and almost appeared to glow at night. She had large black eyes and a long athletic body. She had a thin mane and tail, her tail was long and she took great pride in showing it off. She was very proud and thought very highly of herself. She believed herself to be one of the best creatures in the world, better than even Man himself. She resented working for Man and being his mount and beast of burden. So when she was given the opportunity to make him her servant and promote herself above the human race, she gladly accepted. She became the head steed of an army of dark angels that rebelled against a great God in another world. When they were defeated and cast from the God's realm, her wickedness warped her appearance forever.
NowCaligo vaguely resembles a standard domesticated horse in appearance. She is still tall and slender in appearance, but her hide is very thin, translucent, and drawn tightly over her bones, most of which are visible. Her black fur is no longer shiny and is barely existent. She appears to be covered in thin black leather instead of hair. She has lost her bright clear eyes, and where they were is now replaced with empty sockets surrounded by bone. Her nostrils are larger than normal and appear as deep cavities in bone. She has very sharply pointed ears and a thick snake-like tongue, that's split in the middle. Her teeth are long and sharp, with a set of fangs on each jaw. She is mostly bone, with little sinew and muscle, but she is incredibly strong. Her neck is thin and hollow, the vertebrae prominent along its ridge and extending the length of her back. The vertebrae sticking up under the skin give her the appearance of having spines on her back. Her chest is deep and it appears as if only her skin is holding her rib cage together, almost all ribs are visible on her sides. Her legs are lengthy and thin. There is no flesh or muscle along the obvious bones. Her hooves are black with a claw where her chestnuts used to be. Her tail is a flexible rod of bone and skin, that extends just barely past her fetlocks. Her bones occasionally click as she walks and her hooves don't normally make a sound.
Her CurseCaligo and the few other horses that rebelled against their god and mankind have bestowed upon them a terrible curse, like the dark angels that they had fallen with. Upon falling from grace, the horses underwent terrible transformations, whereupon their internal corruptions manifested themselves outside of their bodies. This corruption robbed them of their physical beauty, their angelic forms becoming those of nightmares themselves. As part of their curse, they were now unable to eat plants and grass as they had as normal horses. They were now forced to prey upon flesh and blood, as carnivorous beasts, whose appetites could never be sated. These Death horses are cursed to walk the Earth and many other worlds until Judgement Day, where they will spend the rest of eternity among the damned. Caligo feels no remorse for this, nor fears the consequences.
PersonalityCaligo is aggressive and cruel at times, enjoying in sadistic pleasures. Occasionally she will display an act of mercy upon her prey, victims, or those she merely chooses to harass at the time. She has no qualms about being mean to others or hurting them if she so desires to. She has no time for liars or those who put on a fake front, as she takes great enjoyment in tearing down artificial walls.
She will return respect, if given it first and will not turn her back on a possible ally. She doesn't trust easily and does not take matters of disloyalty well. She does not easily show compassion and she is not very appreciative of bribery, smooth talking, or other forms of manipulation. It is very rare for her to allow an individual to mount her and use her as a steed. She may act compliant in allowing a rider, only to turn on them shortly after they are on her back and knock them to the ground. She finds this highly amusing and loves taking advantage of the gullible and weak minded.
She is an avid hunter and is capable of finding her own food, whether that be in the wild, from a farmers field, or the back alley of a populated city. She is not capable of physical speech but communicates primarily through telepathic means and body language. She can't communicate with other species, except for domestic horses and their relatives.
AbilitiesTelepathy: Caligo communicates primarily through telepathy with people and other advanced races.
Shadow Meld: Caligo is very stealthy and can render herself almost invisible when standing still in the shadows of a nearby structure.
