Age: 62
Race: Blessed Human
Occupation: Monk, wanderer, healer, storyteller.
Hair: Head is mostly bald except the sides. Tufts of white with the occasional hint of red in the beard.
Eyes: Deep navy blue.
Height: 5' 10"
Body Type: Stout, old man, yet shows no signs of the burden of old age which he hides well.
Skin: Somewhat tan from hours of fishing in the, but still very pale from his racial heritage and diving into the watery depths.
Appearance: Kreed wears the typical garb of a traveling water monk. He wears a conical straw hat for travel, Geta wood block sandals, a cream and gold Kasaya robe (with large sleeves that hides a pipe, tinderbox, flute, among other things), a deep, navy blue sash from shoulder to waist, and a fish net back-pack that holds his other belongings.
Markings: Scent of salt, water, and open air wafts from him wherever he roams.
Favorite Food: Salmon seasoned with lemon, garlic, rosemary, and butter. Also loves freshly fried abalone and raw conch meat.
Personality Strengths: Thoughtful: Kreed relies on meditation and deep-thinking often. He can look at puzzles and situations in a different light than other people.
Determined: The Lone Fisherman is unwavering in his duties as a Monk of the Waters.
Healer: Kreed is a monk, and being such he is skilled healer in both mystical and physical means.
Kind: Being a monk comes with the side-effect of being hospitable and gentle.
Wise: Having an increase of years brings experience and wisdom in some aspects.
Cook/Provisions: Being a master at fishing and water magic The Lone Fisherman can supply both food and water in even the most dire of circumstances.
Personality Weaknesses:Cautious: Having a thoughtful attitude makes Kreed less impulsive and may not act in the quickest manner that is required in some instances.
Stubborn: Kreed is set in his ways and is a little closed-minded. "If I need to drown the world in water so everyone may know of the serenity that comes with it then so be it."
Pacifist: Being a healer and gentle to life makes the monk reluctant to harm or kill. Allow this weakness is only minor as he will vanquish evil when it is brought before him and will use violence as a method when no other will work.
Elderly: Being old has shaped Kreed into a goofy sort who like to celebrate life a little too much. He cackles often and his "words of wisdom" sometimes do not apply and are on occasion ridiculous. He also sometimes struggles with his bowels and may not have the best social grace. A "goofy old man" can sum him up well.
Alcoholic: Taking a fancy to the drink runs deep in Kreed's family. Both of his parents drank and the monk sometimes struggles with knowing when enough is enough (making for entertaining evenings.)
Personality Overall: Kreed is often lost in thought or seen just enjoying the day. Can be quiet at times but is always kind and gentle to those who deserve it. Often likes to recite words of wisdom (even if sometimes they dont end up sounding ridiculous, useless, or unrelated.) When you get past his gruff, salty demeanor he can act playful and even goofy at times. Just keep him away from the ale.
Pet: Kreed's favorite companion that sometimes travels with him is a great sea turtle named Ole' Jo. The turtle is large enough for Kreed to ride on and is often just swimming in the ocean. But when Ole' Jo is needed The Lone Fisherman can call and he will come.
Fighting Style: When in combat he uses a combination of hand-to-hand martial arts, and a fishing pole with a heavy weighted hook on one end. The name of his fishing pole is
Fathom. He can reel the hook in all the way to the tip of the pole to use it as a heavy, slashing type of polearm; or he can let the line out to use the hook and line as a flail (with a hook at the end.) Kreed also is not opposed to using other marine type weapons such as harpoons, tridents, nets, and throwing knives. He is also very partial and adept at water magic.
Other Titles: Fathom, Fish-Whisperer, Brook-Brother, Old Man River, and Leviathan.
History: Young Kreed grew in war. He did not understand war, let alone accept it. Every day was a struggle where he was forced to help feed his drunk mother and crippled father by fishing. He became very adept at fishing and every day sought solace in the peaceful, meditative art. To him it was more than just catching food; it became a time to reflect, to enjoy nature, to ponder on life's mysteries. He was not a greedy fisherman like some of the other old men at the docks who drank ALMOST as much as his mother. He understood the harmony in nature that if you must take you must give back. When he would catch a fish he would throw food back in the lake to feed the fish there and provide solace to their lives as well.
One day enemy soldiers came to burn the homes surrounding the docks where Kreed lived. His parents could not fight back and were killed. As the soldiers turned to kill the boy he jumped into the lake and awaited his death. Down in the depths a great water spirit came to his aid and told him that he has been the kindest human to ever interact with the denizens of water. He understood the need for peace and harmony as much as they did and that he, alone, was the greatest fisherman of them all. The water spirit blessed Kreed and dubbed him "The Lone Fisherman." Kreed arose from the depths with a deeper understanding of life and the importance of harmony. He also understood the chaos that cruelty and war brings to the world.
As Kreed arose he grabbed the closest item to him, a fishing pole, and used it to drive back the enemy forces in his town. He continues to use a fishing pole as a weapon because "if you must use a weapon to fight then you should make certain it can be used for other things as well." From then on he has traveled the countryside fighting cruelty, seeking enlightenment, and, not only finding, but bringing the joy of fishing and peace to those around him. As he continues to age he can tell that his efforts of bringing harmony to the planet is as much as a drop in the ocean. The planet and all life is as chaotic as when he started. His main goal is to seek for eternal life to so he can be sure to witness the time when all life is in perfect harmony and continue to enjoy the art of fishing.
