Tethered spiritually to an Eldritch purgatory-like plane by right of birth he has dubbed the "October Country". It resembles an endless countryside deep in the midst of perpetual Autumn. The imprint and scent of this place makes his mortal essences irresistible to beings that feed on it, but also makes him toxic to them.


Height: 6'0"

Weight: Roughly 200 lbs.

Body: Unique heavy build with a deceptively lithe profile; thick hair on chest, legs, and forearms. Trains at odd moments with a curious system of statics.

Skin Tone: Pale olive, with a mildly ruddy complexion

Eyes: Shifting tapestries of dark and fiery Autumn tones that appear reddish brown or rose gold at a distance or in low light; large and quite expressive. The individual colors appear to glow when under duress or using certain abilities, making them look like miniature blood moons.

Hair Color/Style: Warm black, medium-length, perpetually messy; and a full beard with natural bronze highlights.

Voice: Deep, rich baritone, with a slight lilting quality, and a tendency to sharply pronounce some consonants (think modest Irish accent)

Identifying Features: Birthmark resembling a spiral at the base of his neck, and always smells of warm spices, and books new and old. He is often seen smoking a medley of herbs that both amplify his capacity as a psionic, and calm his nerves. Sage is added to deter anything malignant.

Attire: Simple grey black-laced tunic, dark brown trousers, black reinforced boots, and a long hooded black overcoat with numerous deep pockets, russet trim, and hematite buttons.

Base Alignment: Chaotic Good

Personality: Incredibly eccentric, profoundly intelligent, and darkly sarcastic. Known for an intensely and often comically mercurial temperament. Can be unwittingly charming at times, but unconsciously holds everyone at arms-length. He has very strong attention to and appreciation for detail, which gives him insight of people and situations that can be both flattering and disturbing. Highly empathic and intuitive, even without the use of his abilities. Deeply spiritual, and a hopeless romantic at heart.

Its main purpose seems to be dispellation and driving away the undead.

When used by Sebastian Black as a catalyst, a bow conjured from his soul can be used. This is the only way he can weaponize his innate properties against preternatural offenders, short of allowing himself harm. The uncanny insight of the unknown craftsman is an intriguing mystery in of itself…but some questions are better left unanswered."



History: Once a shy book worm through and through, Sebastian's hunger for knowledge and story began from a blessedly very simple, albeit dull existence in a now derelict husk of a community somewhere in the wilderness of Western Canelux called Runcible Grove. The son of a reasonably successful pair: Jasper, a farmer, and Alva, a seamstress, he was not raised to appreciate posh finery - but neither was he ever left wanting. Arguably the perfect life for a young boy…until his "gifts" made themselves known. It started with things around the house moving of their own accord. Then, vivid, detailed nightmares and whispers in his ear as he slept. Though the family was not particularly superstitious, a priest was called to the family home. It was soon discovered that neither the house, nor the land was haunted. It was Sebastian himself. It was then that he learned that he had died at birth…only for a moment, but long enough to have his spirit inexorably woven to the other side.

Reluctantly, after years of the problems persisting and worsening, he was given over to the Wyllmochvar Mage Academy for study at the age of twelve. It was mere hours after arriving, however, news had followed him that the entire village had been razed and slaughtered a day after Sebastian's departure. Despite the mages and professors comforting him and denying him passage back home, Sebastian's defiant, pain-stricken outbursts proved to be too volatile to be ignored. It was too late for the village, of course. The embers of the flames that had consumed the houses and the fields had long died off. Seeing just that, however…the utter destruction, then, bodies of what he knew to be his parents had left Sebastian catatonic for days….weeks…then months. Always, a strange blasphemous symbol that was left behind in the family house haunted his dreams, taunting him.

Sebastian took first to the libraries of Wyllmochvar, reading voraciously. He demanded to be taken to others. Wherever he could find more books on the subjects of the dark arcane, cults, and outer realms. He was never interested in practice. Only in understanding it. In vengeance. He suffered yet another crushing wound to his heart when he learned that it could possibly all be his fault. Not knowingly, of course. His gifts made him a sort of "beacon" to anyone…or anything sensitive to them.

Eventually, as Sebastian grew older, and grew also in his control and understanding of his powers, he seemed to leave his youth behind. This was in part due to the fact that no one seemed to have heard of Runcible Grove anymore. He even returned to the site of the hamlet, only to find no trace of it. It was as if it had never existed, even though he had memories to the contrary. A Mandela Effect.

At twenty-three, he had taken his leave of the Academy. They had been no help in his self-discoveries, and his thirst for esoteric knowledge only deepened. He found new purpose in the power he possessed. Also, in his near encyclopedic knowledge of books of all kinds, his observational skills, and way with the written word. With an entrepreneurial and self-reliant spirit, he began advertising his services. It would be better to become lost in great purpose than to forget his problems by means of vice, he reasoned.

Soon gone was the reserved, broken little boy from the town the world had forgotten.
