Newborn: A rosenite man was traveling around and ended up in Karith. He was drunk at the bar and hit it up with this elf woman named Meriel. After a very exciting night, the two parted their ways. However a couple months later, Meriel was pregnant. She had a girl and named her Salene.
Ages 1-6: Meriel was a good mother. She was warm, friendly and generally sweet to Salene. Her mother was an ambitious woman who was desperate to climb society and get to the top. Meriel worked as a merchant in Karith and was a middle class citizen. As the years went on, Meriel became more and more desperate to reach the height of luxury she so desired. Her ruthlessness increased. Slowly she started to treat Salene like she was a servant and less like she was her daughter.
Ages 7-10: When Salene was seven, a couple of foreign merchants noticed how hard Salene worked despite being young. These merchants approached Meriel and offered to pay the mother for the girl to be working on their ship as a cabin girl. A lot of money had been put up for Salene. Just enough to get Meriel into a lower part of the high class society. Meriel took the money and gave the merchants Salene as a worker.
When Salene was eight, the ship crashed into rocks near Tyr Island. She survived but was quickly taken by some evil Krampus. A warrior named Chiang saved Salene just in time. Chiang was another survivor of the merchant ship who had been assigned to protect the ship. She was forty years old, able to use magic and highly intelligent.
Together they managed to survive for two years. Chiang taught Salene how to survive. They stayed off the ground as much as possible. They climbed the walls and were careful to attract as little attention as possible. There was a life boat that survived when the ship went down. It was big enough to fit the both of them. These monsters couldn’t leave the island and they were quiet enough to be able to sleep at night in the little boat. The boat was tied to a rock and was on the calmest part of the waters around the island. They used the materials they had to make fish nets, weapons, and traps. Their food was the fish they caught or the monsters they had caught in these traps.
On the end of that second year, they had been caught again. This time there were more monsters than they could handle. Chiang fought these monsters back as they both retreated to their life boat. Chiang was badly injured and dying. She tripped onto the ground and Salene rushed to her side, urging her to stand. Chiang knew that she had little time left. So Chiang combined a Telepathy spell and the Noble Sacrifice spell in order to transfer all of her own intelligence and knowledge to Salene’s mind. With her last breath she ordered Salene to go to the boat. Salene didn’t want to leave Chiang but knew that if she didn’t run now, there would have been no point to Chiang’s sacrifice. Salene watched hidden in her boat, as Chiang’s cold body was dragged into the city.
Salene managed to survive for one more year. She had done all the things that Chiang had taught her. However, she needed to change up where the boat was since she didn’t have somebody to come and protect her anymore. Salene was a small and weak child who knew she was too weak to be able to fight off the monsters properly. Food and water was an everyday struggle. Even more so after Chiang died. But Salene was able to get by using the few fish she was able to get. She made a small fire on the beach and burned the fish quickly before retreating back to her boat. Towards the end of the year some pirates came onto the island. Their ship had arrived safely on the island. Quickly, Salene snuck on board and waited for them to leave.
They did return to the boat but with significantly less crew than before. The pirates left the island and headed to the Vilpamolan Coast. Salene escaped from the pirate ship and headed into Canelux. Now she is traveling around trying to become powerful and strong with her incredibly heightened intelligence.
