Backstory: While there are many different types of fey, Hefeydd is one of the little folk. They are the smaller fairies, flitting around on wings. They love to cause mischief, spy on others and pretty much just live life to the fullest. They aren't the smartest bunch, but they make up for that with charm. Most people do not take them seriously because of their small stature, and so they are often seen as jokes. There are some general rules that bind all the fey. They cannot lie, but this does not mean they have to tell the entire truth. Deals are binding, so if they make a promise or a deal with you then they are bound to follow it through. This also means that they will expect the same from you, and see oath breaking as the ultimate taboo. For their people names have power, so they guard them jealously. Hefeydd himself goes by Hed, and while some may know his first name, only his queen knows his full name.
There are factions and fey courts that oppose each other and Hed owes his allegiance to the Winter Court. Various little folk, fairies, pixies, gnomes and the like, hold their own enmities amongst themselves, outside of the power struggles of the fey courts. They, perhaps being smarter than the big folk, don't wage brutal war against each other, instead they prefer to hold contests, games that decide the winner in disputes. These contests tend to consist of mischief and trouble making for the big folk. Hefeydd, in the court of the small fairies, holds the title of First Night. It is a position to be envied by all, save the First Day. It means he is a champion of his people and spends most of his time tormenting the big folk in the name of his court.
Relations: Lyanna the pocket-sized succubus. Hefeydd freed Lyanna from a dangerous situation, and because of this she has become bound to him until she can repay the favor. With the fey this is not so easy, however, and she can never quite get out of her debt. She is pale with dark hair and red eyes, crimson wings, horns, and tail. She is able to use magic, and she is tormented by the fact that she needs to follow Hed around all the time. She is eight inches tall, and has no weapons or armor to speak of.
Corona the pseudo-wyvern. A small dragon who has found his way into owing Hefeydd, Corona is no happier about it than Lyanna. He is ancient and small, a black dragon with sapphire eyes. He is bigger than Hefeydd and Lyanna, and spends most of his time sleeping and guarding the Glass City. His magic involves shadow and flame, and while he grudges being beholden to Hed, he does not actively try and settle the debt.
Fox and Eagle. Every First Night needs his mighty mounts, and Hefeydd has a fox and an eagle he rides around on. Lyanna has a songbird, because Hed thought she might enjoy the pretty songs and thought she needed her own mount.
Hed's rank as First Night, while not necessarily important within the Winter Court, is one which is highly important among the Little Folk. Because of this, Hed has a fairy glade, an reflection of his own power. It was once a small, thing, enough for just him to live within comfortably and attract unsuspecting travelers, who he would then harass. Recently, the glade has grown in size and complexity as it has begun to house many new individuals.
The trees which encircle the fairy glade are strung with many glass bottles, once the cages of innocent fairies and pixies, but now their homes in freedom. They refer to these bottles as the Glass City. At the center of the glade is the stump of a large, ancient oak, and atop it sits a great glass ball (Reverie Snowglobe). Within the ball is a place of safety, a world where all those who seek refuge under Hed's protection can go and be safe.
Within the globe sits a glass pyramid (Guiding Light). Those who seek Hed's protection and call out to him will be guided to the glad by a faint beam of light, leading them to the glade and to the glass globe.
Those who are welcome within the glade are protected, and healed during their time there (Ring of Sanctuary and Angela's Golden Cornucopia).
There are many who have come to call this place their home. Two sphinx, the elder two of three sisters, have come to call the glade their home, and protect all those who seek to enter the globe. A great reindeer (Rudolf's Revenge) often sleeps within the glade, and travels the forest around it.
Four pixies (Candy Cane Staff) have taken to calling themselves Hed's honor guard, and take turns eyeing him suspiciously, and guarding the glade.
Fourteen pseudo-wyverns, forty fairy dragons, and a small ataiyan dragon have all been freed from captivity in various Big Folk pet stores, and currently reside within the glade, inside the globe of glass.
Last, but not least, are ten fairies who were freed from their bottle prisons, and help manage all the madness within the glade, or contribute to it.
