Appearance and Personality:History:Walter had a fairly quiet life, being born as a lycanthorpe. His father was a woodsman who lived moving from place to place, following the migration patterns of animals. His mother was a woman from Eyota Etu, who later left her family after marrying Walter's father. They traveled the plains until they settled down in a small town on the edge of the mountains, building themselves a little place to call home. His mother planted the field while his father hunted wild game to sell. On better days, he would make extra money by selling animal pelts. They didn't have much, but they were happy.
One autumn season, an illness swept through the village. It was severe, and soon every family had someone who had fallen ill. Walter's father did all he could to help his wife while caring for his young son, but it wasn't enough. She passed away in the wake of an epidemic. Soon, Walter's own father caught the illness despite his lycan blood. Not wanting his only child to fall victim too, he sent the boy to an old friend of theirs who lived on the mountain. Knowing he didn't have long left to live, he asked the druid to act in his stead as a father and a teacher.
Losing both parents at a young age was hard on him, even more so as Walter was beginning to come into his bloodline's birthright. He soon realized he wasn't like other children, but the old druid was there to help him through that difficult time. Sparrowhawk mentored the boy with loving patience, teaching Walter how to better handle his transformations while instilling a deep respect for the natural world. The druid himself was a shapeshifter, able to take on a myriad of forms. It was thanks to his guidance that Walter became the person he is today. For years he lived as a hunter and trapper, using the skills the medicine man taught him along with his inborn instincts. Moving from place to place as the seasons changed, he unknowingly followed in his father's footsteps.
In small towns like the one he had been born, folks were known to have their share of superstitions. Naturally outsiders weren't as welcome, and anything unusual was attributed to sorcery. Witch hunts weren't uncommon, and when a murder occurred during his brief stay; many were quick to point fingers. When word got out that he was a lycanthorpe, he was sure that he'd be hanged. But perhaps the spirits of his parents were still watching over him, as a stone-faced traveler of few words came to his defense. They not only proved his innocence, but they blew away any lingering speculations while revealing the true criminal. Eternally grateful, he asked if there was anything he could do to repay such a great favor. The person simply handed him a metal badge on a chain bearing a strange circular symbol. They said if he was willing to lend his talents and work for them, then they'd call it even.
