***An Ancient Spawning***
Cha'Kwe'Tza was spawned in a vast pool with hundreds of others in the midst of a horrendous storm. A hurricane had come in from the coast, and was wreaking havoc upon the coasts of his homeland. Despite being well away from any shore, the city of Lok'Ta'Hii was brutally punished by the winds and debris. Fortunately, not one of the spawnlings were harmed. The Shamans and their escorts who were tasked with overseeing the spawning were concerned for their charges at first, but as the storm grew, they knew that this was something more. Normally under such severe circumstances, the High Priest would've been moved far from his chambers at the summit of the temple, but he knew something that none else did due to his magical foresight which could predict disasters centuries away. Since the High Priest remained in the temple with his attendants and guards, the Shamans took hope, and carried out their tasks despite the furious winds and rain.
With the rising of the sun the following day, amidst the rubble and chaos of the city, the Shamans led the near five hundred spawnlings from the pools. As if they were hens leading chicks, the knee high spawnlings followed along towards an open square in front of the main temple. Upon a palanquin richly decorated with gold, gemstones, and ivory carvings, the High Priest sat and watched as all assembled before him. He would stand to bless the new spawning in a ritual that was as old as time itself. With this spawning, he added a blessing all of his own. In addition to blessing each spawnling with the hope of long life, wealth, and courage, the High Priest prayed that with the violence of the lands during their birth, that each take that same violence and deliver it upon their enemies in combat, and like the city itself during the storm, stand resolute against all that assail them.
***The Early Centuries***
For the first few hundred years of his being, Cha'Kwe'Tza was taught in the ways of warfare and survival by the great warriors of his tribe. He would come to learn that his spawning of five hundred would act as a single unit both in and out of battle. Although not all five hundred would hunt at the same time, they always hunted with another member from the spawning. Early into his third century, Cha'Kwe'Tza and his spawn-kin were thrown into their first true battle. From the far south, something terrible happened, and an entire city was lost, the High Priest being torn apart from within by Demons from another realm. These Demons spewed out over the land like locusts savaging a crop, and marched ever northward. A full moon's cycle of marching took Cha'Kwe'Tza's spawn-kin, and the other warriors of his tribe south to a river that even he could not throw a spear across. At this river the tribal warriors held for eight days before warriors from other tribes were able to support them.
This river would be a key point in this war as the fighting waged back and forth, swinging north or south by up to a week's marching distance. It also proved to be a terrible war of attrition. Hundreds of thousands fell on both sides, and for the first century and a half of combat Cha'Kwe'Tza's spawn-kin were forged into killing machines, always holding a defensive line, or spearheading an assault into the enemy. It was around this time that the spawn started to take it's own casualties. Sometimes one or two dead in a day, once a whole thirty gone in a single magical blast. With each loss, Cha'Kwe'Tza and the survivors fought with more ferocity, on occasion repelling an attack before it could even gain momentum. The grim war continued well into his seventh century. By this time, the Demonic forces had been pushed back almost to the origin of their incursion. There was great loss though, as Cha'Kwe'Tza was only one of fifty surviving from his spawning.
***After the Incursion***
The Demons were finally banished completely just after the turn of his eighth century, the final incantations led by the High Priest that had blessed Cha'Kwe'Tza's spawning so many years before. Seeing that this particular spawning had fought through some of the worst combat that had ever come to be known, the High Priest declared that the surviving fifty would be added to his Sacred Guard once they were back in Lok'Ta'Hii. This was the highest honour that a warrior could receive. Even more so if he was still alive to carry the honour for his High Priest. Back at the city, in the same Square that the spawning was blessed in, they were blessed once more by their High Priest in another ritual that marked them as the highest of an already elite warrior group.
For a few centuries, everything went as it always had. Storms came and went, spawnings were birthed, the occasional raid was ambushed and sacrificed. Then one day, the High Priest spoke directly to Cha'Kwe'Tza. This was highly uncommon, for it was almost always an attendant that spoke on the High Priest's behalf to enable the leader more time to meditate and ponder the ever expanding world. This was when Cha'Kwe'Tza was given the task of travelling to the far lands of Revaliir. There were rumours passing amongst the High Priests that there were ancient relics there, and that someone honoured and battle-proven should be the one to seek them out.
Thus, near the start of his twelfth century, Cha'Kwe'Tza landed on the continent of Canelux, beginning a journey of recovery that would be told of for millennia to come.
