He had read all the books and scrolls he could afford, listened to all the instructors about spectres, ghouls and things that go bump in the night. The one job that was meant to go right for the young apprentice took the turn for the worse as he gave chase to a small floating orb of a soul muttering spells of cleansing and purifying the places the small ghost touched, the task at hand would have been easier if he had paid attention during spell weaving class but he had always found creatures and learning more fun than fighting.

Taking a sharp turn allowing himself to breathe heavily from long periods of running he watched in cofunsion as his breath seemed visible and the cold sweat rolling down his back, no where in the city should be this cold not during the mid-summer months the boy concluded before heading deeper into the overgrown and cracked basement watching in awe as souls seemed to flock around a chair spinning wildly allowing Randal to see the figure inside the cloud an Elf older than him by the gaunt looks in his eyes and the bright glowing light surrounding him and the chains which binded him, with even hestitating the boy took to action slamming his staff to the chains before watching the frost seem to grow and an uneasy feeling cross his mind, looking down at the shackled man the beings eye glowed a pale blue as its hand shot up piercing Randal's chest with easy and the bright light showing all corners of the damp dark celler.

It had taken months for him to get use to the feeling of another person inside his head every hour of every day, mostly for when Edgest would appear from no where explain how a spell would work or information about the task at hand, on that day a year ago the two men signed an unwritten contract that Randal would be Edgest's host until the time where his business was finished and until then the young apprentice would get new spells and amazing knowledge only an undead elf would know. It may have sounded tempting at first but Randal never thought he would have to unlock these abilities.
